The Victims' Game is a Netflix production. If you do not have Netflix, the drama is also available at DramaCool and KissAsian, but in poorer resolution.

Thank you and appreciate your support!! Hmm, at Chinese satellite channels there are occasional reruns of Taiwanese dramas and these come with Eng subs. But the ones that are available free online, are either w/o subs or fan subbed. Yes, it seems Taiwanese do not do Eng subs at their dramas, these only get subbed when bought by international satellite networks or are collaborations with Netflix, HBO, etc. Taiwanese producers' attitude towards dramas is quite similar to Japanese producers-- both seems to care only for local audiences. They don't do much promotion on their dramas to international markets, and release without bothering with Eng subs. But some of the work is REALLY SO GOOD.... ^^"

Thank you ^^ I agree with your comments, they have really good looking actors and actresses, and are so good at the storytelling. They have some fluffy and over-complicated romance dramas, but if you take away those, the rest are really meaningful watch. Unfortunately, due to budget or other reasons, they do not do a lot of promotion on their dramas and movies, hence they are not as well known. You should check out these 4 dramas, esp Someday or One Day!

You are very right :) I guess Taiwan film guidelines are less restrictive and allow directors and scriptwriters to really explore and go deep where Chinese filmmakers cannot (or dare not). They also seem to care less on the ROI, and are very dedicated to the craft, to the stories that they are telling.

I have thought about writing an article on the differences between China and Taiwan cdramas, the style of speaking is one of them. If you understand Chinese, you would notice the dialogues are quite different too. Taiwanese are very direct in speech, while Chinese (China) likes to use idioms, and their speech can be too scholarly and indirect... etc.. Just some additional sharing ;)

Yes, yes!! You must try The World Between Us and The Victims' Game! These 3 are the most talk about Taiwanese dramas in recent 2 years. On Children is a gem but it is more on the artistic side, not everyone can appreciate it ^^

I saw The Legend of White Snake as a kid and I didn't realize the 'male lead' was female until several years later! This production is still the best White Snake screen adaptation. It was an odd choice to cast a female as the male lead but the results speak for itself.... somehow the chemistry between the leads flow convincingly and it was a beautiful watch.

Yes, The World Between Us and Victims' Game are in a class of their own! I was quite disappointed that The Victims' Game lost to The Bad Kids at the Busan’s Asia Contents Awards... Have you watched The Bad Kids? Which do you prefer?

I notice you didn't mention On Children. For anyone else reading this, On Children is a drama that you would either go "what rubbish is this?!" or "omg! where can I find more dramas of this kind?!", lol... It is quite artistic and you need patience to 'get it'.

If this is the first time you are watching a Taiwanese drama, do start with Someday or One Day. It is a very well-balanced drama with romance, suspense and slice-of-life. And thank you for the praise ^^
