I watched 1 Taiwanese dramas & it was too cringy for me to continue. But your article is really good/convincing.…
For some reason, Taiwanese dramas focused on fluffy rom-coms and angsty family stories from around the 2000s period. But they have started a 'new wave', lol. Do give these 4 dramas a try! They won't disappoint ;)
When I think of Taiwanese dramas it's all forced love triangles and the closer you get to the end of an episode…
Yes, I lost interest in Taiwanese productions in the 2000s... they make romantic dramas too complicated and angsty. There is another side to Taiwanese dramas though, slice-of-life stories that focus on controversial topics that other Chinese dramas would not dare to go into. In the 4 dramas that I have covered above, only Someday or One Day has romance. Do give these a try, maybe it can reignite your interest in Taiwanese productions? If you want something shorter, can check out The Silent Forest (movie released in 2020), or A Sun (movie in 2019). These 2 movies are in similar style as the 4 dramas that I've mentioned.
I’m sure it’ll be hard for many people to believe, but there was a chunk of time when Taiwanese dramas ruled…
Yes, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan dominate Asian dramas in the period of 1970s to 2000s. I grew up watching these 3 countries' dramas! But now Korea and China have taken over, they have their strengths and attractive points, but there is one area in which none of these countries have manage to emulate the success of Taiwanese films/dramas-- the emotional aspect. Taiwanese dramas/ films have a way in their storytelling (and dialogues) to give viewers "a punch in the guts", that heart-wrenching moments. They strayed off this path by focusing on fluffy rom-coms and more commercial scripts that audience likes. I'm glad they have returned and refocusing on their forte, and creating new, thought-provoking productions with their emotional style of storytelling. Do check out the 4 dramas that I have listed above! I assure you, you would like these ;)

It is a pity becos they could have nailed it with an additional 5 mins. Since both ML and FL can use the watch to turn back time to before the other 'died', how about showing an alternate loop at the end? That the FL has done the same for ML in previous time loops? They could have even made that, it was 1 of the leads who had first threw the watch into the pond..... an eternal loop.
Hmmmm if I were still in my teens, this movie might have been at least a 9 for me. But im older and have seen Il Mare, Be With You, The Butterfly Effect, Time Traveler's Wife, etc.. Other then really beautiful cinematography and good acting, the movie is boring. There is nothing new in the story that we have not seen before. Time traveling story needs more 'meat' now, to stand out and make an impression. This drama lacks a core... a devastating plot point to make it heart-wrenching.

There is an alternate ending, an extra ep of 15 mins, did you watch that? I prefer the original ending to the alternate, although the alternate ending is a happily ever after, it was incomprehensible that she can split herself into two given how weak she was at the time.... The original ending is the more logical, expected ending

Those watching Court Lady, WATCH OUT for Yitong in ep 13!!!! In the scene when Fu Rou reunited with Chumu, her facial expressions and her eyes!!! Omg the look in her eyes, that gradual change from surprise disbelief to heart-wrenching happiness, I don't think there are many actresses who could have managed that!
I have been following her in England and trying to look for dramas starred by Li Yi Tong via any channels. No…
Yes!!! I love her! It is so darn amazing she studied dance and went into acting with no knowledge and just passion. She is a great actress, easily defeats more than half of the same age actresses in China
Li Yi Tong is gorgeous and talented. I’ve been following her dramas since ‘Bloody Romance’.
I watched Bloody Romance too! But didn't complete it becos I didn't like the plot in 2nd half.... Li Yitong has very beautiful & expressive eyes! I'm also watching The Long Ballad, and I can't help comparing the 2 FLs... although Dilraba studied at film academy while Li Yitong has not, Yitong is capable of more complex expressions which Dilraba struggles with. I love them both tho \o/
Hi!!! For those who has seen ep 13, can we take a moment to appreciate what a good actress Li Yitong is?? And if you haven't watched ep 13, pls, pls watch that on the big screen. I have connected mobile app to big screen to enjoy the show, and that scene in ep 13 was mind-blowing acting. I weren't expecting that from Li Yitong... most actresses would have done a simple surprise + happy reaction but she did more!! You would miss Fu Rou's subtle changes in expression if you watched it on small mobile screen.
Hi! For those just starting on this drama, I read that it was meant to be longer than 55 eps but due to regulations it was cut. So the initial bad editing, I suspect they sacrificed some scenes. Hopefully they keep the politics and plotting in later eps.
