Ranked 73 on MDL. That's very impressive. I'm still not sure how they arrive at that ranking. Maybe I'll message…
Ranking is mostly by rating. The higher the rating, the better the ranking. But it probably takes in the number of person rating into consideration as well. Otherwise a series with only one person rating, and that person giving 10 will be one of the top series despite being totally unknown in MDL and maybe out there.
Popularity is likely by the number of MDL viewers who indicated that they are watching or going to watch this series. The higher the number of people watching, the better is the popularity rank.
You can just check using the Explore function and find the series sorted by their rating/popularity. It mostly conforms to what I just explained above.
This can however be a bit inaccurate for a series that just started airing.
While we are still less than halfway to this Friday's EP 9, just want to say I really appreciate the director and the production team for the amazing use of music (and flashbacks), especially notable in EP 8 part 4.
That silence during the xylophone, combined with Ohm's own amazing xylophone playing, coupled with the short flashbacks of Pat and Pran's important events made that scene really powerful.
And do notice the music from the moment Pran declared that he is Pat's boyfriend, as mentioned below, the sound gets gradually louder, the music increasing to a crescendo, and just as all the excitement builds up, it led to that dramatic scene of the curtain falling, and the upbeat music dramatically ceased, and replaced with ominous one.
All that made the final scene all the more powerful. Subtle yet very impactful.
"Aren't you afraid people would find out?" "I am, but I care about you more"Can't stop thinking about how Pat's…
That's what true love is all about. Each of them giving their all for each other, to care for one another, despite the challenges they faced.
And that's how true love can change each of those in love, the transformational power of love. This is why I won't classify Bad Buddy as a mere BL series. It is a series that broke stereotypes and showed what genuine, true love is, a love that will survive even the storms and waves of opposition against them.
Are these numbers below or above average compared to other popular BL shows?
It is definitely above average, one of the top ones considering that it’s still airing now and just past halfway.
(Note: I am comparing only Thai BL shows, as it’s not fair to compare viewership to Chinese BL shows that have a vastly larger potential viewer base - the same may also apply to Korean BL shows, albeit at a lesser degree)
The views will still rise over time, even long after this series is done airing.

Just a thought. I'm not defending Wai or anything.
But later this coming Friday, as we watch EP 9, let's keep a clean slate for him and the other friends' characters. They may seem to be doing terrible things, as they are, but we must be careful lest our emotions also get the better of us.
Wai saw things from his perspective and became really angry with Pran (which to me is quite understandable). The last thing we want is for ourselves to be too quick to judge him and his character and became like what he became at the end of EP 8.
I've seen splendid detailed exposition of his actions and possible plots (including the curtain) in the numerous comments since yesterday, and I loved those interactions. However, let's start EP 9 with a clear and calm mind that we can better appreciate each characters' perspective ok?
Let's keep sharing our amazing thoughts and keep the lively discussions flowing!
Need everyone's help here. I've read the novel and felt that I passed through the deepest depth of hell before rising up to the highest heavens. I will probably feel the same on the road to the finale if not more than how I felt when I first read through and finished the novel.
Though P'Aof said that the series is a lot sweeter than the novel (indeed it is, and a lot better in fact), and as we all know by now that most of the series is original story (with mostly the character of Pat that remains unchanged), but Ohm and Nanon's way of portraying them had already captivated so many of us here.
It may not be as angsty and terrible as the novel, but that attachment I've developed for Pat and Pran as played by Ohm and Nanon is now so strong that I need to prepare my heart for what's to come in the next few episodes. I'm sure all of us are feeling the same as well.
If Pat and Pran had been played by other actors, and/or this story had been helmed by a different director, it may have very well flopped altogether. The fact it didn't and kept on going stronger every episode made me extremely happy but at the same time, clutching my heart, knowing and feeling the pain they felt of not being able to openly live out their relationship in peace (at least yet, for the moment) and for the bitter opposition from their friends, family and maybe even society.
I lost it when Pat started playing "We wish you a merry Christmas" song on the xylophone. Depending on what we…
It's happy birthday, and it's timed just nicely for Nanon's birthday. Whether planned or not, it was just so sweet of Ohm for doing that. (He may have known the schedule beforehand?)
Do you also think they might change the ending credit song? They have Nanon singing Just Friends in the first…
I won't be surprised to see a new ending credit scene and a new OST coming out in EP 9. Since most of those ending credit scene is already shown by EP 8, and the last ones will be up by EP 9.
Gonna sleep now. Bad Buddy EP 8 is over 1.8 million views now in YouTube (just less than 5 hours after airing).
We may still yet reach 5 million total for EP 8 by later today. It will be the best performing episode yet so far as it currently is now.
And I have to retract my earlier statement 2 weeks ago, saying that we'll probably get 10000 comments by/after EP 9. We'll likely get it later today. A birthday gift of sorts to Nanon!
The ratings increased? Woah like for real. So happy!!
A lot of viewers (vast majority in fact) are still refraining to rate until the finale, as is usual for most if not all series.
So rest assured that once the ending comes, and I believe that it will be an amazing journey from now to there, all those ratings coming in will pull Bad Buddy up above 9.
Not Me is the highest at the moment, but it's only had one ep. BB is the only one I can think of that is going…
Neither do I, all the top BL series I have seen all have dropped from their higher rating, including even ITSAY (not the initial rating, which can be exceedingly high).
But let's give Not Me a benefit of the doubt, since we don't know yet how it will turn out after a few more episodes.

(Still on track to at least 100 million by finale)
And what better way to celebrate that birthday than the two of them having that private cruise event tonight #OhmNanonXNivea ??

If that's how EP 9 to 12 will be like, think I may not need to sleep anymore! XD
Anyway, there may still be a third version. We'll see how.
So happy. Finally!
(I've already said it twice, but really want to thank this wonderful angel of an actor for his many gifts to us, especially Bad Buddy!)
You really triggered me with that "Here are two hot dudes. Now enjoy"!
