Haha it's all subjective. I do agree that a lot of people found 2gether's leads attractive. But I am much more attracted to Frank and Drake there (Mil-Phukong was what made me watched 2gether) than Bright-Win.

Ohm and Nanon are actually good looking, but their personality and chemistry are amazing, when they act together, and that is what drives Bad Buddy to such a height!

Title Bad Buddy Spoiler
Someone did in the book (arranged marriage by Pat's parents after they graduate) but that character doesn't exist…
Pat and Pran got into relationship, and they were found out by their parents. This was after the parents found out that Pat had been meeting up with Pran too.

Their parents were furious, especially Pat's parents. They were forced to be separated and not allowed to meet each other. Pa (Pat's sister) helped them to communicate with each other.

Pat's parents forced him to be engaged and marry a girl (named Punch, not in series), and he ran away, wanting Pran to run away together with him (but the latter didn't). Pran's parents send Pran overseas to study, further separating both of them.

After a few months have passed, Pat matured a lot, and almost married Punch until when he confronted his dad, the fiancee found out the truth that Pat didn't love her and break the engagement voluntarily. Pat and Pran eventually are reunited (overseas), and both parents eventually gave their blessings to their relationship.

Pat also cleverly managed to resolve the relationships between the two families (this is reflected in his brilliance in EP 3).

Just a short summary of the whole long story. Read it more if you want to know the details :D

Glad to see so many good comments and very lively community here on this page!Since now is Tuesday night in Southeast…
Been rewatching Make It Right again to see how Ohm was in that series (it was one of my favourite series).

Gosh, in the span of 4-5 years since those two seasons, he really has become so much better in acting! And he's just 21!

Both he and Nanon are very close friends (this one we all know), and I just realised (silly me not checking more earlier) that they are studying in the same university and same college there (College of Social Communication Innovation of Srinakharinwirot University), most likely same year and batch too since both were born in 2000!

No wonder their chemistry is beyond belief! Having acted together in Blacklist certainly helped too.

That said, when I looked at the trailer again yesterday, it seems later on there will be angsty parts too.

Hope it won’t be as angsty as the one in the novel. It was very heartbreaking to read what happened to Pat and Pran there.

Yup! Definitely. We just have to be patient. I think many of us agree that this series deserve a lot more renown and support!

It already has a lot, but I think comparing to other top tier BL series, it still should reach higher.

Keep sharing your story insights! I will keep on sharing my story insights too!

Since now is Tuesday night in Southeast Asia, it means that we are already more than halfway to Friday night! Just 3 more days to go!

(It feels as if there are 3 more years between me and EP 4...)

I think those in twitter and based on my own perception, Bad Buddy should deserve more views, as at least comparable to Bite Me (which has double Bad Buddy's TV rating) and more than Don't Say No (also has higher TV rating despite issues in the series - I liked it, but it grew flat as it progressed, and for those who were fans of the second couple, they got really disappointed).

Both were released at 10.15 pm for Bite Me and 10.45 pm for Don't Say No. This is around 2 hours later than Bad Buddy, and since it's Friday night, it may be more favourable for viewers. GMMTV used to release the episodes later at night, like 9.30 pm or later, as I remembered Dark Blue Kiss aired late at night.

The unknown here is WeTV, since unlike YouTube and LineTV, they do not publicly show the viewcount. So, we do not know how popular Bad Buddy is over there.

Yes, Untamed was excellent and I like it a lot too, and I was focusing in my earlier comment mostly on the viewership alone, which in this case, it was helped immensely also by the vastly larger Chinese viewership community (maybe close or around 1 billion people), as compared to Thailand, South Korea and other countries.

(Of course it also has a strong international fanbase too, and that contributed!)

As mentioned, the online video streaming in China is also very, very strong despite the Great Firewall preventing the people there from accessing YouTube (many still managed to access via VPN anyway).

As a separate note, 2gether the Series was also helped by its popularity in China (I read about it somewhere), so that is probably part of the reason why the viewership exploded too.

I agree with you that Bad Buddy brings the best of all aspects, so my point is that, in my reply to the original commenter above, it should have deserved a lot more views than it currently enjoyed. But it is still early (EP 3), and like 2gether, things may pick up pace after.

I agree with your comment, however, perhaps it's just me, but I don't find Bright or Win particularly good looking (just personal preferences here). Though I am sure a lot, lot of people thought otherwise. To me, Ohm and Nanon are more attractive (again this is subjective).

As I said, the first episodes were good, but unfortunately towards the end, things went haywire somehow.

I think part of the charm was the new approach as you mentioned, but it did quickly wear off afterwards. The sequel for example, didn't garner the same level of viewership and attention as the first season.

(By the way, around the same time as 2gether the Series was aired, Why R U the Series, En of Love the Series, and My Engineer the Series were also playing too, almost during the same time period. They were actually pretty successful and I believe got the same boost, but not to the extent of 2gether)

Exactly, that is sadly the reality that people do like to see hot scenes (it's not wrong though), but many then miss the rich storyline and symbolisms just as you and many others have shared here.

Then, based on that lack of certain things they look for like those hot scenes, abs or others, they may end up giving very negative rating (Actually not wrong either, but I wish people can look for more things beyond the skin).

Anyway, we don't know yet if there is going to be any hot scene, since Bad Buddy is only up to EP 3 now :D

World-of-BL twitter posted regularly the overnight TV ratings of the BL series on their release dates. It doesn't seem too good for Bad Buddy, but EP 3 has shown a trend upwards again.

Several commenters rightly pointed out that the timing may not be too good, considering that vast majority of its viewers are those from 18-35 yrs old range.

On Friday nights, many of them are either still outside, or studying, or working (even those who are working from home). The earlier timing of Bad Buddy and recent BL shows seem to be a disadvantage here.

And talking about The Untamed and other famous Chinese drama series (mainly non-BL), many of them are really good, but to me, it's sad just because it's Chinese drama series, its viewership is much, much more massive than any Thai series (and even Korean series) simply because of China's massive population and high access to online streaming platforms.

China is one of the most advanced countries in terms of their use of online platforms, and video streaming is one of them (even though unfortunately they do have the Great Firewall). Many Mainland Chinese and increasingly more of them have access to online video streaming and this is shown in the immense popularity of the Chinese shows (at least in pure numbers).

That explained the billions of views those series could get, like The Untamed, which by now probably already has 20 billion or more views (It was close to 10 billion at the end of 2019), and Eternal Love which had over 50 billion views in mid-2018 (now maybe over 100 billion??) That's the brute power of the immense Chinese drama and television viewership for you.

And those numbers above I believe are just for online video streaming platforms, not counting those viewers from the television yet (for which China has the largest number in the world).

(As I mentioned, I love dissecting statistics a lot)

2gether was immensely helped by the pandemic and lockdown, since people had nothing much to do at home that time and perhaps watching drama series is part of fighting the boredom. It was also quite promising at the start, which account for the immense number of views, but the plot seemed to be getting disappointing as the series progressed to the end.

That explained why in the end 2gether's rating here in MDL is just a 7.8 (which is not bad, but it means it's rather average compared to quite a few other Thai BL series that are better in quality but with significantly lesser viewcounts and renown).

2gether is relatively good but could have been better (my personal opinion).

Hope Bad Buddy will get more promotion and word of mouth, and that this series can get more viewership and positive outlook in the weeks to come!

Please enjoy reading it, but do prepare for a lot of angst inside!

And please don't hate the parents too much (I don't want to spoil any more than that). It all ends well anyway.

Sent! :D

Do note that the story was changed quite a bit, although the director still keeps Pat and Pran's characters, and seemingly, some of the parents' behaviours.

2gether is fine for me too. It's quite good, but Bad Buddy is still a league above it for me.

Hope that without the 'Covid and lockdown boost' Bad Buddy can still perform very well! We'll see how it goes!
