THIS!!! The storyline has been discussed over and over and over again here, so I will not bore you with more of that. Let´s get straight to the acting: JS NAILED his roles here and showed us his great acting ability by impersonating every single one of his multiple personalities without fault and without even once falling out of character - WOW! I watched this only for his acting but unfortunately had to skip A LOT of scenes where he is interacting with the FL. I usually stay very far away from any drama or movie with HJE but thought, I could get through this one because of JS.....A quick advise from me: keep yout finger on the sound control as soon as she appears on your screen!!! 90% of her screen time is screaming and screeching - in a very creepy and exaggerated way (and NO, it is NOT her role, watch others of her works and you will understand what I mean...). Overacting -for me- is the worst form of poor acting, because you can clearly see, that there is not much of an acting ability and that needs to be compensated by exaggerated features and screeching. If an actor needs to screech in order to show, that he/she is angry....well..... HJE is called the "korean queen of overacting" and I absolutely agree with that..... This would have been a 10/10 for me with a different FL actor. I can not drop it below 8/10 because of the rest of the actors, that did an amazing job. Will rewatch but will skip each and every scene with HJE.
I guess I’m one of those rare few who had no problem with FL’s acting? I’ll take over-acting over wooden…
Well, "wooden" acting can be as annoying as overacting.....I prefer none of them, but good acting without having to overact or not being able to show any emotion at all. Overacting however is the worst form of poor acting, because you can clearly see, that there is not much of an acting ability and that needs to be compensated by exaggerated features and screeching. If an actor needs to screech in order to show, that he/she is angry....well..... HJE is called the "korean queen of overacting" and I absolutely agree with that.....
That stylist-hairdresser of Oh Ri must have hated her so much! What kind of hair was that???And her outfits as…
Those wooden kisses are very typical for HJE. In my opinion, she has a really hard time developing on screen chemistry with her partners - no matter, who she is paired with!
Why oh why ....? Is not being pretty automatically meaning, that you have to be uncept, that you have to dress in rugs and that you have to have an overall "dirty" appearance with horrible manners? When you finally (finally!) land a job, that you desperately need - with fashion / livestyle relatet content - can you at least make an effort to not show up with greasy hair and clothes, that look like you stole them from a homeless person? Can you at least try, to cover your mouth and nose while sneezing and chew your food with a closed mouth? I do not say, straighten your curly hair (I have curly hair and I do not straighten it), buy designer clothes and put on a ton of make up...I say, wash your hair, buy clothes, that fit and are not 10 numbers too big and have stains on them when showing up for work. Miraculously, the FL learned some manners along with washing her hair, putting on make up and buying clothes......and miraculously she looks pretty because of the make up.....big big eyeroll! Yeah, and that is the whole story of this drama. The acting was as expected. One can never do wrong with PSJ - he is a very good actor! HJE acting (for me) was a bit less annoying than it usually is. She can do - at least - a half decent job when paired with really good actors. Still her notorious overacting came through in too many scenes and I had to skip them. It seems like they also tried to tone down her screeching......yeah well..... What killed it for me tough, was the completely missing on screen chemistry between the leads - and that is kind of the most important thing in a romance! Even during the kiss scenes there was....nothing..... 5/10 for me and I would not rewatch this - not even certain scenes or episodes and I really like to rewatch dramas.
Considering dropping this.....does the FL grow up sometime during this drama or does she stay put in her "I´m dumb and a 5 year old" role? I mean, the scene, where she got lost and did not even know the name of the hotel she was living in and sat down crying(!) in the middle of the street, because she could not find the way.....ähm.....that really was......my oh my.....she was not very bright from the start, in fact, she was not bright at all.....but this......she literally calls out for her mom......
Oooooookay, this was a great watch! I usually stay away from MCW, as I do not like her acting but I have to bow down to her performance in this one. Started to watch for LJG and of course he did not disappoint and impersoned his character in a great manner! To be honest, I did not know KJH, had never seen his acting.....I was absolutely impressed with him and will def. look out for more of his works!!! To sum this up: script 9/10, acting 10/10. TRIGGER warning: child abuse.
Can you tell me, if the firece wife is worth watching? Does it have the same ending? Thank you!
Thank you! Hm, maybe I will watch the last two episodes......I can not take those martyr victim types of FLds, that do not stand up, have no backbone and endure for endless periods of time. I also can not take stupidity, wimpy MLds and mommys boys. No, that is not my cup of tea. I read in a comment for FW, that the FL lets the cheaters live with her in the same house - ähm, no! I def. will not watch the whole drama as it seems to combine almost everything I do not like. Thanks for the warning!
I would have agreed with you, if I had not seen the 1992 and the 2007 version. 1992 was good, but 2007.....THAT…
Oh my, YES, I have to agree with "Thailand has some of the hottest MLds"! I would have liked Push for that role.....I know, a lot of people do not like him, but I think, he would have been good in this one.....
This actually was not as bad as I thought it would be - honestly, I really enjoyed it! The first few episodes are hard to watch with the cheating but as soon as the wife leaves, this lakorn gets better and better. It is so great and refreshing to see, that the cheaters do NOT have a good time together! It is even greater, that the wife does not take her cheating husband back! And the greatest thing of all - and sooo sooo rare in drama and lakornland: the wife does not forget, she does not say "yeah, it´s ok, you slept with my husband, endangered my daughter and made me go through hell, but it is ok, let´s be best friends again"! No, she tells her to never come near her again and makes it very clear, that she means it and she acts on it. She develops a mature relationship with the husband as they have a daughter together and even tough he cries and tries, she makes it clear, that there will never be anything more, than their role as parents. Some said, that it took too long for her to accept her new love interest....hmmmm......the older you get, the more careful you become......and, she had just gone through hell and had just regained her own life......is she not allowed, to think, to take her time, to enjoy being by herself and with her daughter, is her life only worth living with a man by her side? This lakorn is a 9/10 for me. The one star, that it missed, is because they did not adress the mental health issue of the cousin / mistress properly. It is clear from the beginning, that she needs help, serious help in an institution, locked away, where she can work out her problems and learn to overcome them. It is not only, that she is unstable, she is violent, she is not able to think about consequences (really not able, like, she really does not know, what is right or wrong) and she harms people. This will not just stop, this will go on and would have needed to be at least adressed properly.
Puh, so how to put this nicely...? Yes, yes, yes, I know, it´s Mark and Yaya and YES, if you are only watching for their chemistry: go for it! But, if you can put aside this "dream pairing"....you see A LOT of abuse, no redemption and a very, very fast forgiving happy end. The whole lakorn is revenge and abuse and after THAT you get a 20 minute happy end....you see a psycho SFL, that has a HUGE mental health problem - without any real conversation about her jealousy problem....crash, boom, bang, she changes suddenly because....yeah, why? In my opinion, the story is below average and the only good thing about this are the actors. 5/10
I had really high expectations when i watched this one, but it didn't live up to it for me at least. Some parts…
I would have agreed with you, if I had not seen the 1992 and the 2007 version. 1992 was good, but 2007.....THAT was a Tor with a smiley babyface.....for me, this Tor is the best one (compared to the others).
1992 (raw) vs. 2007 vs. 2019..... this 2007 version was by far the worst. Too long, too chaotic and fans of BSW, please do not get me wrong: you can not pull such a complex and tormented character as Tor with a smiley babyface. You just can not do it. Tor is NO easy character to display,he goes through many various emotions such as pain, suffering, joy, desperation, love, hate....he is tormented, he has been through a lot....you need an actor, that can "feel" those emotions in order for the audience to feel them. If you watch all three versions, you will see what I mean. 1992 had a great cast and was believable. 2019 was the best! Altough I do not like the actor of the 2019 version and I was very sceptical if he could deliver what the actor from 1992 has done, I must admit, that he was the best Tor of all. If you are a fan of BSW you will enjoy this. If not, I recommend the other versions! 4/10 from me because the wrong cast for the ML (my opinion) did not deliver the necessary depth for this character.
In every slap and kiss drama there’s rape, that’s why I don’t watch lakorns anymore, no more Thai dramas…
Nope, it´s not in every splap kiss lakorn. But if you are watching the older ones, you will have a hard time finding one without it. Try watching the newer ones - starting from 2020......
Beware: this is a slap kiss from 2008, the lakorn rape era. So, YES, the ML rapes the FL - violently. Even those, that always comment and say "well, it wasn´t really rape, because the FL already loved the ML" are not able to defend this one (in my opinion there is never any excuse for rape). She clearly does NOT want to get intimate with him, he hunts her down, she cries, she begs, she fights - he does it anyway - angry and violently. Like in Sawan Biang, this FL is a virgin. Unlike Sawan Biang, the ML regrets it afterwards (well, hmmm, does NOT make it better) and it happens "only" once. Of course, they end up together anyway.....
Oh, this one was good! Finally a kdrama, with mature leads, that do not break up because the road gets a bit rocky, that can actually talk and listen to each other and actors that have a hell of a lot on screen chemistry! Was it a masterpiece? No. Are there better dramas out there? Yes. But compared to some of those "this script worked for the last 500 dramas so let´s just do the same again" productions, that have popped up in the last years, this is a breath of fresh air! The acting was top notch, the on screen chemistry bubbling and the script was decent and made sense. 9/10.
So, this remake is the worst of all and here is why: The ML character is cruel, like really cruel (the acting was great!) The FL character is really dumb, annoying and over the top. VWS was casted perfectly for that role, since she can not act without overacting - or it was the other way around and she displayed the FL character in that way, because she can not act any other way....? A bit less screeching, a bit less overacting, a bit more depth and real, honest and normal conversations and this could have been good. If you like the story watch the taiwanese original or the chinese remake waking love up. Both are so much better: better acting, better script (the story is the same, but it does not drag that much and the FLds are actually more mature than this one that only knows how to stomp her feet, throw temper tantrums and scream) and both have a nicer happy ending.
The storyline has been discussed over and over and over again here, so I will not bore you with more of that.
