It isn't a typical romance, in that romantic love is not the most important thing, though it's nature is very…
It's fascinating to watch how each character changes as they face what their choices mean for them, too. This is a drama about love and loss, and what each character ( the FL and three of the MLs) each choose, and do, because of their traumas. it's a healing drama too, even though dark in places. I find it's a drama that I can relate too because they have been through so much, and affected by it.

This show has intriguing plot with 1 FL and 4 MLs. It's romance heavy, not physically more in interactions, dialogues…
She plays a different kind of FL character here, though both characters (in each drama) have similar great inner strength to survive. I loved Flourished Peony too πŸ₯°

I'm re-watching this now too. It is my favourite C-drama.

Me. πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈI'm currently rewatching this with my sister who has never seen it before. She loves it,…
I've been doing a slower, more careful re-watch this time too. I'm sad I didn't think to check here first, or we could have watched it together! I'm on S1 ep 34 now. Where are you? I watch 4 or 5 episodes at a time, and am thinking through what I'm seeing, how the camera is shooting scenes, which I am finding is enhancing how the story is being told, and the character relationships. So many one on one character scenes between XY and each of her men! There are no lines that are filler, either. I love that it's such an intense drama, too.

Yay! Hard to believe it has been two years!
I'm re-watching it right now, my 4th rewatch, and it's still sublime and my top C-drama. My heart and mind are owned by this drama! I'm so happy there are others who feel the same, two years later. 😍πŸ₯°

I rarely get 2ML Syndrome but I suffered from a bad case of it in "The Forbidden Marriage" (2022-2023…
I had the same issue in The Forbidden Marriage, I liked both the ML and the 2ML so much in that drama. At least the 2ML did find someone worthy at the end, too. I really liked this drama.

"After 84 years" lol I feel the same way πŸ€£πŸ˜… It feels like forever to get here, though each episode flew by....I just finished episode 18, and when he said those words at the fireworks, did anyone else feel a sense of alarm?

This episode was so heartfelt.I loved all of Mudan and Chang Yang's interactions today, but the highlight of this…
I love that belief he has in her too, and I am so glad she believes in him and his work. They match each other in ideals, which is something I love to see in dramas. A relationship built on mutual goals and views brings about a deeper understanding, and this couple is all about understanding one another. It really is good writing in this drama. We have seen from early in Flourished Peony how they understand what each is doing without really knowing one another yet. All along the writing and the characters have been consistent πŸ₯° in this drama.

Such a beautiful, tender moment between them. I melted too. 😍πŸ₯° It felt like the moment he reveals his deepest fear, and she responds. How can anyone think they aren't romantic, and this show isn't romantic? Love is deeper than surface, and these two love each other deeply. πŸ₯° On a side note, LOL, it's the height of summer here and hot so I am watching our butter melt as we speak,....🀣

There are five distinct love languages: physical touch, words of affirmation, gift-giving, acts of service, and…
yes to your post!! Thank you for bringing up how they show their love. Even when they try not to, they end up showing it. Mature relationship - absolutely. One of the best and healthiest in dramaland because they have respect for one another. So glad to have this drama that I can go back and rewatch (after its' done) when I get tired of the fantasy romances that fill dramaworld.

I know, I was the same, I don't often read the comments but for ITNOB I have been, and I've had to be very careful now, because hardly anyone was talking about the quality of writing (excellent) and acting (also very good) as well as cinematography, which is stunning. It's an intelligent drama, even the misunderstanding is cleared up in the best way for all the characters. I really enjoy the quality of this drama. Flourished Peony and In the Name of Blossom are one of my highlight dramas for this year. Since FP ended, I was waiting for this second part all winter and spring πŸ˜… I really enjoy how we see both Mudan and JYC work through their feelings even with the misunderstanding, giving it depth and making it believable.

I loved this episode too, so much, that I've already watched it again πŸ˜…πŸ₯° You are right, it encapsulates and shows in a lovely way what they are - JCY, Mudan and Mr Third - are working for, which is good governing for the people. There is so much good writing in this show. She and JCY are true partners, eequal in every sense of the word.

Yes, I am staying to watch this drama. I Don’t care about the reviews. I love this drama since FP. I am not…
Me too, I am staying to watch this drama as it airs. I had to wait til Ep 10 - 13 were all up on Viki though, so I could see it all at once. Otherwise I'd be having anxiety waiting for each of those episodes and our leads. I'm still wiping tears from Ep 12 and 13 tonight. So good. And even when our leads are pretending they are only friends, they still have so much chemistry. The writing is very good, the actors, the scenes, and cinematography. I really like this drama. Miles Wei is great fun as the villain 2ML too!

Unique story that will drawn you in and won't let go. I was hooked from the beginning and could not stop watching…
I agree with everything you say, except regarding the FL. Her character and how she was portrayed I thought was really well-done and most likely in the script: she plays a character who is fighting her destiny (to be a shaman), who is haunted by a legendary character who she thinks killed her grandmother, and being a shaman is outlawed by the king. She watched her grandmother die, and she was bullied most of her life. The one friend she had disappeared for several years. So her dark personality and few smiles at the beginning are well within her character. She is not a sunny person to begin with. And then we see her become this loyal, kind (even if not gentle), devoted character as all the secrets are revealed through the episodes. Her quietness and deep thought also makes how she becomes a true shaman realistic, as well as how she ends up respected by everyone. It's not as showy a performance as our the two main MLs, the king and Kang Cheol/Yoon Gap, but she provides a quiet depth as the FL who quietly goes around solving hauntings without any attention. As Kang Cheol says, even when she didn't want to be a shaman, she still couldn't help but help those who were haunted. I think all the performances were so enjoyable and well acted.

Seriously at this point, I’m going to say that if nobody wants SML I’ll take him. The rest of y’all can…
I just finished watching Ep 20 tonight, and I'm so on board with the 2ML ship even if it's sunk with just a side rail up now! I really like the fact too that he and FL are friends, and such good friends too. WEtv subtitles translated what SML said to his parents about her, that she is his soulmate.... I think he might be right. You don't always marry your soulmate, either. I really enjoy watching their scenes together, and wish they would stop cutting away just as they are going to have meals together or do things together. He is such a good guy, such a green flag . I'd take him in a heartbeat. 😍πŸ₯°πŸ₯°

I have now completed my long Companion piece. It has everything about the drama: dates, music, crew, characters,…
Thank you so much for everything you have compiled. I watched this drama as it was airing, so it's been a couple of weeks now since it ended, and I am finding it hard to move on from the drama. Especially the early years on Flower St were so immersive, that I feel like I was there with them then. Such a beautiful and realistic drama, so well-written and acted. All your links/resources will help me/us learn more about the Grand Canal and Flower St. πŸ”₯πŸ˜πŸ™

Agree because it just felt like out of the blue. I would have understood if there was signs of him having affection…
I've been thinking that too, for Xingchi, it was the only way to get her to pay attention to him, since she always had eyes for Wanghe only. When he got her to chase him in high school, I thought, hmm, it's like pulling her hair, he likes her but can't say it....it's interesting because I can see the person he is with her, and she makes him be his best self. But she doesn't love him that way. My SML syndrome is alive and well in this show! Although I do like her and Wanghe together too....such realistic and good characters and writing for them all. πŸ”₯πŸ˜πŸ’–

The SLS is strong in this one. I haven't felt that in a loooooooong time.
I agree with you. When he finally confessed, I have to admit I was shouting in my head, say yes to him! That was so irresistible. But then I had to admit that in real life, if I met a person like SLS I'd fall for him too, lol. My heart is breaking for this character. He needs some happiness!
