I just don't see anything special about her smile, which is supposed to be her big thing. and she's bad at comedic…
McDonald's is popular but that doesn't make it a high-quality meal.
I loved Tian Xiwei in PoJ, but the drama itself didn't break any new ground, it wasn't innovative. It's just a prettier version of a story that's been told many times before.
The over-the-top marketing campaign is the reason it's so acclaimed. People will believe anything if it's hammered into them.
The POJ director was definitely telling the truth about TXW being an anti-romantic. I just finished SHErlock season…
I take it you haven't seen her in Moonlit Reunion? Even though she said falling in love with a mortal was just a brief experience in her long demon life, her character Wu Zhen certainly exhibited deep love, longing, regret, and grief through her relationship with Mei Zhuyu.
Maybe she needed an actor like Xu Kai to play against. They even displayed plenty of chemistry promoting the drama.
Different character different acting style. That is how the character was describe he's a taoist monk who reject…
I don't get that impression. As a Westerner, I think there's more pantomime, more heightened expressions in Chinese costume dramas. The evil laughs, the buffoonish behavior. I fast forward through that whenever possible. There is so much exaggerated behavior.
I guess that's why I prefer Xu Kai, even though my first exposure to him was Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain. He played a character who could be silly as well as smart and courageous.
I get the impression that Chinese audiences find outsized behavior to be sexy and a sign of quality acting. Tons of eye makeup and a white wig are the hallmarks of an outstanding performance.
If someone doesn't like Xu Kai's style of acting, they needn't go out of their way to let everyone know. Move along and enjoy whatever rubber-faced actor suits your taste.
It was recently submitted for its license. It will receive its license soon. I think we are highly likely to watch…
These were the two longest I could find. Wonderland of Love was 17 months. Moonlit was 15. Three had a turnaround of 8 months: Dance of the Sky Empire, Ancient Love Poetry, and Best Choice Ever.
If you don't like Xu Kai, why ask? Just watch who you like. Something cookie-cutter like Pursuit of Jade might…
If you're not a troll, you shouldn't feel offended.
Saying you have to "force" yourself to watch him onscreen is not exactly respectful. There are other ways to express that sentiment that come closer to respectful.
Xu Kai is used sparingly, so Moonlit Reunion should be safe for you. His character is a strict follower of Taoism who doesn't want to be involved in the world so he is played as unexpressive. This changes, however, when he meets the Cat Lord (Tian Xiwei). Some hot scenes in later episodes, if you force yourself to make it that far.
The chemistry between Xu Kai and Tian Xiwei is off the charts.

As has been stated previously, according to filming laws, shows based on government agency topics like fire or police must pass meticulous and stringent (and lengthy) assessment.
Something is very very wrong with everyone’s make-up…or maybe it’s the lighting….Everyone’s skin looks…
When you can see Xu Kai's freckles, the makeup is definitely not cakey.😉
Tbh, I didn't see a heavy layering of makeup on most of the actors. Snake Lord is white because she's, well, White Snake. And Book Boy because he's a book?
I had no problem with the lighting, either.
Moonlit Reunion was a feast of the eyes, and not just in the Demon Underground.

They had the type of relationship where pranks could be pulled.

Tian Xiwei was great and portrayed her character as realistically as she could. Unfortunately, she's getting a lot of flack for it.

Claiming I'm attacking you is classic deflection.
She and Her Perfect Husband and Court Lady have taken the longest to air at 18 and 20 months.
