He has lots of romance drama. This is something new for him.
The romance in Wonderland of Love is pretty special.
I'm surprised you didn't like As Beautiful as You. The leads made a great couple, so much so that there are tons of videos out there claiming the actors are in love. Some even have them married and with kids. It's crazy.
I hope Xu Kai has a bigger role than the trailer depicts.π€
Yes. I'm becoming pessimistic. Past is prologue.
Of course his role is important. I haven't said otherwise. But that doesn't necessarily equal screentime.
I thought this would be more Chen Hui centered. The dad of course would be important, as would his girlfriend, but I didn't expect it to become a two-hander.
I was too optimist before. Reality is landing.
Thank you for putting up with my venting. Needless to say, I'm very excited to watch Eight Hundred, and will rewatch multiple times. Heck, I still find myself watching Moonlit Reunion time and again.

I think the father's role is being emphasized here and will likely have equal weight to Chen Hui. FI, on the other hand, will likely be more Xu Kai-centric.

There are many ways to create a message in a trailer. This one indicates that the drama is an ensemble and gives weight to one character by using their POV.
Xu Kai should have split the focus with Tian Xiwei in Moonlit Reunion, but I felt there were multiple characters who had as much, if not more, screentime than did Xu Kai.
I hope Eight Hundred doesn't reflect the trailer. I don't expect it will. But there have been other cases where an actor has been given additional pages as the script is developed (thanks Yu Zheng) so it could have happened here as well.

I understand that he is the focus, but to someone not as deeply invested as we are, the trailer doesn't tell that story. I hope there's another one that's more Chen Hui focused, where we actually get to hear him for more than one sentence.

Either way, he's so damn handsome!
