The writer just dislike happy ending. Just see all her previous dramas. RJL is also sad with how lonely they made his character to be. Demon Hunter's Romance ending was ruined by AI when iqiyi seek advise from it.

I suggest you to watch Twilight. This kind of writing is very typical of H&R dramas. Thats why fans are so worried when RJL was forced to film this before he leave the company.

I personally believe that the drama Twilight is written from personal experience of Director&Writer who worked for H&R.

His last kissing scene is with Song Zuer in The Demon Hunter's Romance back in April 2025. He also has many kissing scenes with Dilraba in The Blue Whisper.

They cut the main leads' screen time since H&R want to promote their other actors with this drama. Thats why you see all side characters' romance and not the main leads'. They are indeed the biggest victims of this.

Have you watch Bloody Romance? I find it funny since she write so many awful things that her sad endings doesnt make people cry.

I think many people has problem with how the writer basically punish all the good guys while giving redemption arcs to evil people. That is some messed up moral when you think about it deeply.

Xiao Huan death is a relief after all the crap the writer made him go through in this drama.

With the zero marketing Youku did for this drama, it reached S level at Yunhe so they probably making money for this drama since there is no promotion expenses they have to consider for the gross profit. Not gonna defend the douban ratings since Huanrui's scripts are always bad in my book.

I think you need to define what is flop in your comment. This douban ratings are indeed low and truthfully, we all kind of expect it since it's Huanrui script. The only saving grace of this drama is that actors' performances.

But in term of viewership, for Love & Crown, the drama probably going to reach 10m/ep despite the zero marketing the drama received. Sword & Beloved is around 14m/ep right now. While Red Moon pact that is actually higher with with 16m/ep.

No, that's not what happend in Bloody Romance. FL was given a lot of points but they made her overly white to the point of stupidity since she even merciful to evil people and let them go to keep doing more evil things. The one who sidelined is the ML who was given nothing aside from simping the FL as his main storyline. The one who are treasured are the 2ML and his tragic potrayal. I did not like this writer so imagine my fear to see her as a writer for this drama.

It was life threateningly bad. You are right. I think I never feel more frustrated than watching that drama. Cang Cang here is a saint compared to the FL in Bloody Romance. The drama is so bad that I actually want sad ending her lol. It is truly a gift when you actually want the main characters to have bad ending to how terribly they are written.

I think they just missed 1 scene on how the leads supposed to reconcile afer that. Since without that, she appeared like she was so self absorbed even after learning the truth and all his sacrifices and devotion towards her. I wonder what the writer is thinking when she didn't put that scene and quickly move on to another arc in the drama. You give so much angst for 20 episodes and after knowing the truth, no pay off to that angst. What a bad writing lol.

Yeah, in order for him to leave, he has to film this. So, he really didn't have a choice. Having used to watch the quality that his dramas offered, watching this is truly a struggle.

It's not though? He is widely praised for his acting in here. The script is truly a mess but for the acting, the one constant praise are toward him and how he interprete the character. He excellently portrayed his great yearning towards Cang Cang. Viewers find him so compelling in that character since XH can be viewed unfavourably due to what he is forced to do to Cang Cang but he play that character so heartbreakingly that forced you to understand his reasons despite to can't really excuse him.

The original book writer also praised him on how he makes her XH character comes to live in this drama. She explained how RJL put nuance in that potrayal and how the drama makes XH more complex than in her book XH. The way RJL portrayed how affectionate-starved XH is just so heartbreaking to watch.

For LBFAD ending, probably not full happy ending to you since all that narrative that he comes back and they kiss are just merely seconds. So, it is not a good emotional pay off.

Well at least she said XH is benevolent king and she will help him on his missions.

They probably hold it after the confrontation with her Dad. To make the reconciliation more impactful.
But the script is indeed a mess. I can't believe what I'm watching.
