This is normal with Huanrui scripts unfortunately. RJL was forced to film this in order to leave the agency. Still, he gives Xiao Huan so much depth despite the mess of a script. I'm actually super impressed lol. Xiao Huan seemed so morally layered, heartbreakingly tragic and complex. And he achieved to show all this facets of the character with this kind of script.

I have to disagree on you regarding the endings for certain dramas 😆:
Thousand Years for You - Happy ending as he is alive and DengDeng saw him at the end after searching from town to town. It wasnt imagination as we saw him, then the camera pans towards her smiling and go towards him. Thus, a happy ending. A brief happy ending lol.
Burning Flames - Happy ending as he saw Bai Cai at their old house. The snowman that she made at the house is exactly like the snowman she built at the cave so we know it is her. She opened the door and he smile with tears in his eyes. Only Bai Cai will elicit this kind of reaction from him. Had it anyone else, he will just smile, but his reaction at that time is tearful happy smile which indicated that his search for her has ended.
Destiny of White Snake - There is 2 endings but both indicated happy ending. First ending show they reunited at the bridge where he offered her umbrella and she hugs him. The other ending show how she spent the time waiting for him but still, the drama ended with their reunion at the bridge. So, both endings still ended with their reunion. Its just brief for the 2nd ending.
Never Say Goodbye - Happy ending as it ended with him with a new mission at Thailand and he received a call from Ke Xin and she told him she will be joining him soon.
Detective Dee - Open ending since he saw her at the end so it can be she really alive (since no one ever die from falling off the cliff lol) or its only in his imagination.
The Demon Hunter Romance - Open ending since he saved everyone and everyone is alive due to that. Its also heavily implied that they will meet again after 12 years as lots of foreshadowing indicated this.

I think we dont have to scare people since some people just outright drop dramas when they know its sad endings. The 4 dramas above have happy ending except its brief or implied heavily. A happy ending is still a happy ending. It just it wasnt satisfying happy endings and we want more. 🥲😅 But many Cdramas like to do this kind of ending, so it cant be helped lol.
