Hidden love didn't wanted to deal with Sang Yan's love life, so they left a few hints. There is also a moment when Duan Jiaxu sends a delivery to Sang Yan in morning so that he picks Sang Zhi. Duan Jiaxu wrote a cheesy romantic line on that delivery box. Sang Yan was nervous as he thought Wen Yifan will think he cheated and even complained to Sang Zhi. Also, Sang Yan was stressed when he went to meet Sang Zhi in Yihe and saw her dating Duan Jiaxu. He was already in a relationship. There are few moments when they implied Sang Yan had someone in his life, but the focus was on Sang Zhi, so it was not dealt with in depth. He started dating earlier than Sang Zhi.

Yifan was harassed by that woman's brother. Her husband saved Yifan at the right moment(though Yifan kept fighting to save herself ).

The truth is police won't do sh*t until and unless the person has really hurt her. Law and Order is same all around. A few days in lockup and some fine, then they will leave that person. Same happened here.

Honestly, it was bound to happen. People might say they want complicated fls but when it comes to accepting it, they don't. It is like Fl is either a romance material or someone who have only one mood, cheerful, cute and cringy-_-

The drama has 32 episodes. FL is actually impenetrable in terms of emotions due to various reasons. She is emotionally stunted. She is not clueless or indecisive character. Infact she is one of the strong FL I personally came across as a drama watcher. ML put a lot of efforts in the past, but the efforts in the present is actually suppressed by his narcissist personality. The growth of FL is extremely good in novel so I hope it will follow it. You can't really compare hidden love with this. Hidden was a bright story with DJX having a sad past while Wen Yifan have a miserable past, from abandonment issues, to financial issues and above all, she is abused too. The theme is darker than hidden love so not everyone can take it but the story has much more depth here.
She has many issues, and by many I mean many. Like some issues might not be seen on the surface but it there. But once she decides to go behind ml, she chases him too. If you like fast paced happy drama, then it is not for you. But if you like dramas with good characterization, a good plot and Yearning, then it actually seems good. And yeah, the story don't just have romance. It also depicts that after a rainy day, you will find your sun.

Yes. It also enhanced how he is so good at heart. Not holding a grudge against her even though he thinks he is her second choice, caring for her in his own ways. Heartbreak in his case was necessary to broaden his spectrum.

Okay. A rant again(I have no one to rant this about).

During the highschool days, Sang Yan is just so different. It is like he never encountered difficulties(he never did) and whatever he wanted, he had always got it. Sang Yan fell in love with Yifan at first sight, when she was doing ballet but it was her calm composure and kindness which really made him so crazy behind her that the whole school knew about his love for her.

The heartbreak really crushed the pride he lived on because except Yifan, he really never had to struggle for anything in life. That heartbreak made him who he is today but it also helped him grow a lot as a person. It shaped him, made him learn how to deal with the pain and despite the pain, how to love her. If someone broke your heart the way she did, you would actually hate that person or despise them. Instead he simply accepted and respected that she didn't loved him, worked on himself, tried to keep check on her, and kept loving her from afar.

The way Yifan reacted was realistic. She didn't fell in love first. It was through how he was available for her, around her that she really started noticing him and soon fell in love. When she thought that she can be together with him and forget the dark period of her life, something big happened. This time, she felt completely abandoned hence shut herself off. She still feels guilty for hurting his feelings because she knew how much he loved her at one point(I won't ever call it crush. It was that innocent youth love because of the extent he goes to).

This breakup might be angsty but it was so important for Sang Yan as a person to grow. It made him a better person and taught him how it feels to not always have everything your heart desires. How sometimes, things can't go as you planned. I loved how he didn't completely lost himself. He was heartbroken, but still kept check on her. Had friends to chill out with. Studied well. Above all, he NEVER blamed her for breaking his heart.

Breakup made him better as a person because honestly, for a eighteen year old person, it is difficult to handle a person with that level of trauma Wen Yifan had.

No. She infact severs all the remaining ties with her mother asking her to consider her daughter died and returns to Sang Yan. That is one of the best scenes I feel.

She did. I really love dramas which emphasizes on suffering Fls.

In the novel, Wen Yifan was extremely loved and pampered by her parents but after her father died, her mother remarried and abandoned her, tossing her to her father's older brother. They didn't treated her well, always emphasizing how she is not their responsibility. Afterwards, her uncle's wife brother comes to live with them and constantly tried touching her, knocking on her door which made her extremely scared. She was always on fight and flight response, keeping sharp knifes and scissors with her due to the fear and couldn't sleep at night till 3 AM because her uncle used to return at that time and that man was only scared of her uncle.

The only sunlight for her was Sang Yan's visit to her once in a while .They promised to go to same university but just few days before form submission day, that old man crawled into her bed. She did everything to save herself and thankfully her uncle came back and saved her. They didn't wanted her to complain to police but she still did but her mother didn't supported her. She was abandoned by her again and a policewoman took her in, pitying her. After a few days of depression, she suddenly realized she didn't wanted to go to that university because it was her mother suggestion and changed it to other university.

She was extremely depressed, had mental traumas and used to have nightmares. It was only when Sang Yan called her that she realized the promise she made him. Her life was a mess, so she didn't wanted to drag him in and above all, she was almost r@ped, so everyone made her feel guilty about it. Though she loved him too, she still broke his heart, not wanting to see him suffer along with her. That is why she has so much guilt towards Sang Yan in drama. Afterwards, she somehow survived, working part time. She was again harassed by her senior at work which made her change cities and she returned to the city ML is in. One of the reason of her return is also him, it was later revealed that she wanted to see him but after breaking him heart so badly, she didn't had that courage.

Yeah. I have seen comments saying why she doesn't react or why she doesn't take a stand. I have loved her character so much in the novel that it honestly hurts people misunderstanding her so much.

I know everyone is entitled to have their own opinions but Wen Yifan is genuinely strong. After multiple assaults, you will still find a smile on her face with loved ones. Even after reporting that man who assaulted her, police did nothing except fined him and let him go, only for him to hold a grudge and literally chased her down the dark alley with friends. When harassed at workplace by her senior, she provided proof too that she is not the one encouraging the man, but the wife of the man blamed her nonetheless, even going to the lengths of slapping her and people started badmouthing her, knowing she is not even in the wrong.

She knows until and unless the s*xual assault is successful, no police is doing anything for her. She is alone, short on money, have her own problems to deal with and she is still so kind to everyone. Above all, she is really guilty towards the ML for hurting his feelings and that is another reason she let him have upper hand most of the time.

She is not your usual bubbly FL like we usually see in c-dramas. Lets be honest. C-dramas make ML some demigod and woman a damsel in distress. She is not a damsel in distress. She has depth as a character. She just has been so disappointed in everyone that now she had stopped keeping her faith on people, fearing they will abandon her at any moment.

Just wait for the drama to complete before calling her weak willed or something like that.

The present timeline is when Sang Zhi has to give the college entrance exam.

What I understood of her character is she really doesn't care even before the death of her father. She was loved well at home and had two friends. Above all she is extremely introverted and is someone who is extremely calm, like nothing can shake her types. She mostly had a plain face that is why many people think she is emotionally stunted, even her own best friend. So it is like how she is. Most of the time she is just with a straight face but at the same time, she is shown extremely kind and gentle.

At present, all she really want to do is go through her life because honestly, her life is practically miserable. Until and unless something affects her directly, she doesn't react. She knows about the rumors but she thinks it is not going to affect her so why bother giving energy into it.
