I wrote it on laptop, so didn't realized the length. I am not frustrated but the way they are taking her wrong is what I don't like. I feel so much for her at personal level that seeing people misunderstand her is hurtful.

The hate female lead is getting, saying she is so cold and ignorant, she don't deserve it. Life is not a bed of roses, and her life don't have any roses. After what happened to her, the fact that she is still standing strong, making her own money and is still kind to people around her is what makes her a strong character. Not everyone can take revenge, not every FL can be all rainbow and sunshine or downright beating man around. She is heavily sexualized by people around her, reducing her to just mere eye candy just because she is beautiful. And it is nothing impossible. She is vulnerable, has no one by her side and people around her knows it. So, she is prone to danger. Her own mother, who gave birth to her had abandoned her for a daughter who was not even her own. So, how do you expect her to keep expectations from someone else, even Sang Yan? Right now, her only motto in life is to go on with it. She is not happy and ML can clearly see it. There was a time she had a lot to say but no one listened to her, so now she has nothing to say except for pretty good. Even with her friends, she rarely shares much.
Now, coming to ML. He had not seen struggles in life. He has a family where his parents loves and supports him, a sister who adores him and fights with him, enough money to splurge. The only downside he has ever seen was being rejected by a girl for whom, he did a lot. But mind you, he never counts what he did for her. He was careless and impulsive in high school. Going out of his ways just to spend a little time with her because that was the first time he fell in love. Now at the present time, he might do a lot like cooking, buying things for her, protecting her while sleepwalking but these are the things which we see, not Yifan.
According to Yifan, he don't like her anymore because she had once broken his heart. She is aware she had hurt him so she thinks liking her is not possible for him now. She has so much going on in her own life. Do you really think she has enough time to sit and pamper Sang Yan, who rarely even acknowledges what he did was for her. I am not blaming him. But her experiences in life had made her what she is today. She don't like interfering in someone else's life, be it Sang Yan too.
And just think, she literally referred him as her sun. It is such a big compliment. She lets her guards down in front of him. Initiates conversations with him(only him). If you can't love her, then don't. But she don't deserve being at the receiving end of hate. She is not just a romance element who has her whole world around SangYan. Her experiences shaped her while his experiences shaped him.
What Sang Yan does for her, it is not to be acknowledged. It is because he cares for her, genuinely loves her and he knows it. He now don't want to expect much from her though his heart is still vulnerable towards her, so he still wishes that she could reciprocate his feelings. He is just selfless, compelled by his heart to do whatever he does, to see her happy because he can see that she is not happy.
FL has a lot going on in her life. Insecurities, inferiority complex and don't forget she has almost been R@--d too, which means she had even been ridiculed too because woman are blamed, it is a harsh reality. She is a survivor but she don't see herself like that. She thinks she don't deserve good things. She has such a heartbreaking past. Don't be so unempathetic towards her. Healing is a process, not a one time thing. It takes ages for people to heal.

by 2-3 episodes, FL will start chasing him. You can see the preview of ep 12, she pretends to sleepwalks just to hug him. It was by this time she decides to pursue him. It is based on angst, so the angst won't end. The climax has angst but jealousy honestly is not really given much importance because FL don't acknowledge anyone.

He is not getting any cold shoulder or ignorance. Even in the first episode, she actually acknowledged him but he behaved as stranger, so she just followed it. Afterwards, it was not like she didn't wanted to ask for his help while being chased. She thought that she will burden him by asking for help. You can clearly see tears in her eyes seeing him hurt. From the time they started living together, she never downright ignored him. She feels safe around him, made cold medicine for him, informs him about her unavailability. She was so happy that he returned to her on New year and they had noodles together, referring it as reunion. Moreover, whatever he does for her, he don't let her know, giving one excuses after other. Even during highschool, she was really good to him. And at present, she has guilt towards him too as she broke his heart. She is shown as someone who is emotionally stunted, given her experiences with abandonment. She even don't talk much with her male friend but with him, she tries initiating conversation. It is just she want to make clear boundaries, so as to not have expectations because she don't want to rely on anyone, even him given what happened to her.
Also to make one thing clear, she was not angry seeing him in her apartment. It was like she was scared, what if it was some creepy man instead of him.

Yup. She is described as extremely gorgeous with sharp features such that she was called the highschool goddess. She had a lot of pursuers in highschool and Sang Yan saw how kindly she rejected them. It made him fall more in love with her, Ruonan is gorgeous but her features are on the softer side but in the drama, she fits perfectly.

And it is variable episode to episode because the scenes that are shown is what suits that episode.

She does pursue him. It is more like he is waiting for her to come clean about her feelings for him and she will say it soon, keeping all her insecurities aside.

I think it is very normal there especially when the novel was a beloved. What really matters is the viewership and it is going good so far. It is actually a hit so no need to worry. The drama was literally criticized even before release. They think the ML and FL are cold to eo offscreen but that is just having boundaries and how does it even matter how they are offscreen? Some people were like Zhang Ruonan doesn't suit Wen Yifan just because her face is not how author described in the novel. They have a habit of nitpicking, and it honestly don't affect the international viewers so it is fine.

Yeah. It was a bit odd too. The first time I saw DJX in their house, I was shocked. But they tend to add a lot of scenes apart from novel, same happen here. Also, Yifan trusts Sang Yan too much so if he is there, she won't ever feel uncomfortable. Hope they won't compromise a lot on Sang Yan.

Actually it is a spoiler but when she gets drunk after getting together with him, she complaints to him for interacting with so many girls in a single night which was reference to this scene because he interacted with few girls and she saw it. She doesn't really care much about anyone apart from Sang Yan in romantic manner so she doesn't give a damn to these things while for Sang Yan, he really don't have any woman in his life apart from her but they might add her jealousy in the drama.

I thought to watch too but its extremely heavy for my liking. I would legit go into depression if I watched it.

Actually Sang Yan didn't have any female friends apart from Yifan. Even in the first episode she is jealous seeing him surrounded by so many girls around. Now, this jealousy will actually play a role in her chasing him.

Novel had no direct interaction between the two. Even I didn't liked it given Sang Yan's protectiveness towards her. But the drama needs to be stretched too so they added it and also, Sang Yan do trust Duan Jiaxu a lot. He might have thought that he would leave before Yifan comes and in today's episode, it was just to make Yifan comfortable because he knew how she was overthinking about her sleepwalking.

People are mixing it up with Olive tree drama. Sad ending makes sense their because of all the war zone and extreme trauma. Here it makes no sense at all.

No. Spoiler alert. In the climax he is angry at her but they resolve it very quickly and then in the last chapter he proposes her at the same place they first met, aka school. Sad ending doesn't make sense here. They have two kids too. Sang Ye and Sang Liuchu.

It is the happiest ending. It is a melodrama with lots and lots of romance. They have a happy dating period without any breakup.

Yeah. As much as I hate the breakup, it made him grow as a person because if they came in a relationship that time, he might not be able to handle the baggage Yifan came with. He needed to mature to become mature to handle it and at that time, all he wanted was Yifan, his first love. He was not exactly mature, rather impulsive at many moments, making her the center of his world because that is what really happens in teenage first love. It made him overall a better person and stronger too, because he still continued to love her, keep a check on her without holding a grudge and it is not easy to do so.
