One common rule in kdramas or cdramas or even in jdramas. Especially in 90% romcoms, ml never hangout with any…
It's because they mainly write to cater to female audiences. They think we'll like it if we're getting all the attention from men and even the male lead has eyes for only us. Something like a modern fantasy
Calling women professionals pretty and saying who wouldn't wanna be interviewed by a beauty and all that was disgusting…
Thank you! True, cultural differences and work ethics often make a big difference in the way viewers perceive the drama.
I do get what you mean by white lies. It's pretty common in asian families to treat your guest with politeness as a host even if you're inconvenient bc guests should be put in front of your needs. It might be a universal thing but i feel like western families would draw the line much earlier than asian families or they might just never bring up boundaries.
Countless times we have had guests coming to my house unannounced but letting them in was the only polite thing to do. From a chinese netizen's perspective, it would have been rude of Shi Yan to not let Shu Yi when she came to his house for a very legitimate reason even though it was unannounced.
Worst drama I've seen these past few years!!! So misogynistic and objectifies women ridiculously (to which the…
Calling women professionals pretty and saying who wouldn't wanna be interviewed by a beauty and all that was disgusting but here's my take, it was pretty realistic for me as in China, they require pictures on your resume and that will to an extent affect your chance of getting the job. Discrimination based on gender and physical attractiveness is still very prevalent. When this is portrayed in the drama, the FL doesn't seem to have no problem with it bc pretty privilege is still a thing everywhere. when you're on the best side of the issue, humans rarely find it a problem.
But she didn't seduce him for more exclusive content. She got close to him for petty revenge but did nothing more than middle school kids' level of flirting. Plus, she came to him at night to redo the draft. That was not professional of her and him letting her in was not professional too but it was a plot device and she was trying to pursue him (for whatever reasons) outside of work hours.
Also, if you think rejecting THREE times is TOO MUCH, the average rate of article rejection and revision in professional Chinese media is too high as compared to English counterparts. 71% of articles in Chinese journalist firms are rejected WITHOUT REVIEW as compared to 50% of articles from English-speaking countries (a study from 2021). Not only the company is entitled to reject a draft, but the client or the interviewee can also do the same. The media company can be sued if the article is published without client approval. So, three times is actually not too much.
The last part that you mentioned made me so angry too. It was victim blaming and disgusting and when the FL accepted it, I didn't know if she was color blind, stupid, or just a doormat
I keep on thinking to myself this drama might get better but no, it keeps getting worst and worst. Is this a joke?…
honestly if done right, the drama would've been amazing and their chemistry would've been on fire š the screenwriters/ crew did them dirty. i read the novel after posters for only for love was released and i was totally able to imagine bai lu and dylan wang setting the screen on fire as shu yi and shi yan. what a waste of good potential š im still hoping a satisfying ending will make up for all the drag
That was actually my first favorite dialogue from Shi Yan after the break-up in the novel.
Shu Yi was too exhausted bc of the breakup and was overwhelmed seeing Shi Yan still caring for her and started crying at how she's in such a pathetic condition. Shi Yan asked why she was crying and she said, 'i didn't expect to be at the hospital around this time' (midnight) and Shi Yan says 'Yea, you should've been in my bed' š«ā¤ļøā¤ļø to hell with those censors damn
I'm glad, thank you! I have been updating it. I'm yet to upload all the summaries. it kinda gets hard as it goes by bc i dont wanna miss out anything that happens between shi yan and shu yi lol
I just started a discussion thread summarizing the chapters in the novel. let me know if any one of you all are interested. I really enjoyed the novel and revisited it so figured it would be nice to make a summary. I will try to update all the chapters before the express eps š
I am still gonna complete this drama despite the frustrating misunderstandings bc it has a happy ending, I loved the novel, my favorite leads, the female lead has a good work ethic, and I have seen worse in cdramaland.
By worse I mean, hair-pulling, whipping-the-phone-out, dropping the drama shit like abusive ml, extremely spineless fl, obsessive doormat sml, extremely annoying mother-in-law, shitty exes who re-enter their lives and are still close to the leads, years of leap due to misunderstandings and so many lmaoooo 𤣠idk who im tryna convince but yea to the haters who think this misunderstanding & dragging is the worst, you clearly haven't been in cdramaland for long š
If we are frustrated, its because we had high expectations given the plot, cast, and crew. ik there are only like 6-7 eps left but im hoping this drama will end strong or at least have a satisfying happy ending ā¤ļø

this is in chinese but there's an option to google translate the whole page
