I'm not saying this is the right way of catering to the female audience but this is what most of the drama industry aka scriptwriters believe. we rarely get second female lead syndrome but we often get second male lead syndrome, why do you think that is?

this is kinda of toxic formula that scriptwriters like bc is according to them this is likely to do well among female audiences.

Ep 29 trailer, what does Ning'er mean by 'As long as her highness can stay, we wont owe each other anything, our grudges will be cleared' ?!! what does she mean by a fresh start? what grudges are they holding on each other still. i get that Ning'er is distancing herself but why does she still think that Xie Wei is still holding a grudge on her or smth? didn't he clear things up by saying he didn't use her and in his eyes, she's different from others ?!

I love Xie Wei for this, he doesn't let his jealousy cloud his mind, or have a petty competition with Zhang Zhe with Ning'er as the bargaining chip or smth.

he's not rational but wise, full of awareness of the situation, and can read between the lines. he's very misunderstood but very convincing at the same time. he's an anti-hero but with a high EQ. if not for those unfortunate circumstances, he would've been a fine young man who's not only suitable for Ning'er but good in her eyes from the start too.

Honestly it's not a free slap, it's a well-deserved one that should have occurred way way earlier lmaoo 💀
