Yeah…that’s YF’s role in this drama. She gives it straight which is definitely going to be an issue between her and CHJ.

She always knew he was a “yes” man and easily influenced. She’s got her own ambitions and don’ want kids. I think maybe she knows deep down they wouldn’t last and didn’t want kids to complicate things. She was very hesitant about getting married in the first place.

Ugh…ep 29/30 previews, Li guy rears his ugly head again. Somehow I knew he wasn't’ gone for good yet. Of course the betrayal from CHJ making YF’s predications of what can happen if CHJ went to the Customs department come true. 🤦🏻‍♀️ CHJ forgot that the opportunity to get everything that he has was given to him with XCS’s life. Your Bro took a stabbing for you and you pay him back by framing him when you’ve done well.

IMO, he actually noticed TXM long ago but was always distracted from her. First it was HHL, then his injury. He’s always liked her attention and liked talking to her. I also think their goodbye scene before he went into the Army was telling that he felt she liked him. He stumbled over telling her to live boldly and that they should be in different worlds. Also, there were small clues that he was always aware of her presence after they returned and mostly yearned for her company whenever he chases her away. He said it wasn’t so much the stuff she was doing for him but just being by him. He just didn’t face it until YF pointed it out.

Lol…the doors just opened up for them so they’re just catching up on trends and such. Biggest part was seeing more and more colors.

There’s actually at least 1 type of flu outbreak each decade and except for the dinner where they put a date, there’s no indication of time so we have to guess by events and such. That’s what I did to figure out how long that first time skip was. So far so good with all the clothes and accessories fitting the time period. I’ve seen dramas where the accessories are too modern for time they’re portraying.

I was trying to figure out the time line by what war they were fighting and it should be the war with Vietnam over Cambodia in 1979 so when the Gang of Four lost power in 1976/77, XCS was able to go into the Army and TXM followed the year after at age 21 and by the time they were back in Beijing for XCS’s recovery, it was 3 years later in 1981 (date from their dinner). With the scenes of the phones they’re using there’s got to be multiple time jumps cause some of them didn’t come out until the late 90s. That’s a pretty good time span they’re portraying.

Yeah, she would be like that. I remember she went to XCS first when they did the picture thing and automatically said that he liked her. She sure always had a lot of confidence when it came to men.

The spoilers tell us otherwise where she doesn’t want CHJ to hire XCS into the customs office due to his past connections. That Li guy almost caused trouble for XCS when he worked at the cooperative store. It may just be misleading but she has a preconception of all of them similar to her mother but just not as bad. The only other explanation which could be why CHJ is jealous is that she secretly had a crush on XCS when she was young. Happens all the time where the younger sister crushes on the brother’s friend.

So that Li guy just bullies his way into forcing people to sell him goods or just taking things from people just so he can profit from it? Medical equipment is hot commodity but that’s just crazy that he could operate a racket like that so freely. Guess he was probably bribing officials/police to look the other way or something.

Lol…She’s just realistic about her brother. Remember when she even questioned the story about her brother being a hero for single handedly retrieving the coordinates..lol. She knows her brother well. She doesn’t think XCS deserves TXM either because as you’ve noticed she never says anything about XCS directly just that TXM has loved him for a while. She has something against XCS from the beginning and thinks he’s a bad influence.

I had to put in WeTV as one word. At least that’s how I was able to find it. When I pu in We TV as separate words it brings up a different app. I tried Tencent before and that didn’t work.

I just found the WeTV app on the app search engine of our tv and signed in using the QR code through my Tencent AP from my tablet just like iQiyi. They didn’t have it before but think they’ve figured out that they need to catch up with the times to increase their streaming audience. Lol…I’m weird but I watch already completed Spanish novellas on Netflix. I basically watch all type of foreign drama and Netflix has Spanish, Turkish, Filipino, and Indian dramas/movies.

I don’t fault her for taking money from YGH or help during hard times…it’s just that she isn’t willing to share someone else’s burdens which is where her and XCS differs. Regarding YGH, she was clear with him about XCS being her choice so YGH became like the new QT who just provided whatever she needed or wanted for her without getting anything beyond friendship in return. Of course the difference between YGH and QT is that YGH never gave up liking HHL so he’ll grasp every opportunity he gets. Plus they haven’t shown how YGH & HHL was while XCS was recovering so you may be right about her continuing to string YGH along during their time in the Army since she’s known all along how YGH felt. We’ll see with next week’s episodes.

If XCS didn’t really have feelings for HHL, he wouldn’t have lasted through their long distance relationship when she went into the Army first. I think there was affection/love but it didn’t develop deeper or strengthen beyond the feelings of youth because when it came to his hardships, she couldn’t face the obstacles with him. She would take any help she can to overcome her own obstacles, i.e. taking $$ from YGH to pay for her mom’s hospital bills but when it comes to shouldering other’s hardships, she can’t do it so no matter who she forms a relationship with it would never be an equal relationship if she can’t get over that part of herself even if it’s love.

With TXM, they had already started developing a bond/friendship when the 4 of them ( them & YF/CHJ) were left behind and TXM helped with his father’s weekly blood pressure check as well as his hospitalization. They were able to talk and he can be himself/let his guard down around her. There was already a foundation that developed into something else when she stayed by his side through his lowest times. He was just too preoccupied with feeling sorry for himself and not wanting to burden anyone to realize it.

It’s like what XCS said in the break up letter, that they were like two parallel lines that no matter what they try there’s just more distance between them. She chose the path towards her dreams instead of him when he could no longer be in the Army. Whether choosing between their ideals or reality, they just weren’t meant for each other.

Same…I was trying to place where I’ve seen her before and she’s played support characters in both Nirvana in Fire dramas.

Yeah, that’s what I did too, keep iQiyi, YouKu and Tencent monthly but then realized that I kept having to extend to catch one show or the other so I signed up when they were on sale for around $30 or less for the annual subscription…basically get them all for the price of 1. I have to keep Netflix and Prime for the family too so we just decided to cut out cable tv and increase internet speed for our streaming services. My daughter and her friends just started watching stuff on Viki and manhua on Tencent and iQiyi 🤦🏻‍♀️ 🤣 along with anime on Hulu.

Yeah, they’re representative of artists who developed their craft through various roles and have developed their own ways of understanding and immersing into their characters despite not having attended a formal acting school.
