Well, the SML is FL's sidekick. He does care about the FL, but not to the extent of being a delulu. In the novel, after ML's departure, the FL and SML sign a contract marriage and later they separate and sign a divorce after the FL learns about his engagement with other girl. After that, the FL finds and breaks up with several boyfriends and never find a good pairing aside from ML.

As some people have pointed out, I also think that there's something off in the story. Somehow I feel bored and just wish I could skip further until the end.

Side couples are more interesting than the main one. I hope the production team didn't do them dirty, after what they did to the main couple's arc.

I'm downgrading this to 8.5 and for the next episodes, I recommend to use 2x speed if you start to yawn or doze off (imo the 8.0 rating in MDL does justice for this drama).

I think you're right about the childish plot. It's reasonable if the young Dongfang Yuechu developed a crush on Hong Hong when they encountered each other for the first time. However, after 16 years in Tushan, he only began to have a crush on her. That's a bit weird, isn't it?

After watching two episodes, I'm hooked up with this series. For real, I can feel the sizzling CHEMISTRY between Yang Mi and Gong Jun. Love their interaction so far hehe...

So far, the story is kinda nice and CGI, visual effects, and costumes look gorgeous and extraordinary.

But sadly, I need to stop for a while so as to catch up with JOL 2's latest episodes. Will try to binge both series if possible. It's really frustrating to watch two shows at the same time (I'm prioritizing JOL 2 of course).

Yeah, the second prince is such an interesting character aside from Fan Xian. Even though they're sworn-enemies, they can still chit chat and tease each other as if nothing happened at all.

Ten episodes in and I can't help but keep glued to my screen. Fan Xian deserved the title of 'Master of Trickery'. Nobody knew what tricks he had in his sleeves, his actions were just... unpredictable. The comedy and humourous scenes make me giggling nonstop, especially when it comes to Wang Qinian and his little family (special mention to the palace's officials too).

I wish I could binge-watch this every day, but since Fox Spirit Matchmaker is coming in the next few days, I think I'll have to divide my time (cause I'm supporting both drama LOL).

Up to now, I've read the novel until chapter 67. It's giving off AASOL vibe LOL!!! Except for the economic and business stuffs, I love the plot and (*spoiler alert*) there are a lot of flirty scenes in the novel. I can't wait to see those scenes executed in the live action version. 😆😆😆

I wonder if they will shoot the university part at China or at the USA (in Ithaca, NY precisely). I wish they could film abroad too, just like AASOL (but this depends on their budget too).

If you tread on the novel carefully, you'll see some similarities between AASOL and this one. I won't be mentioning it as it will become a MAJOR SPOILER.

Ikr! The new title sounds complicated to me. Still, I prefer the old one.

To me, it looks pretty typical (compared to other iQIYI's xianxia and ordinary historical dramas). 1 minute is not enough for a trailer. I've rewatched the trailer twice, but didn't get any feelings out of it. So, just brace yourselves and wait for the release date. Until then, I'll be rewatching the trailer for umpteenth time.

Actually, I prefer the original name compared to the new one. I even watch the anime to understand the plot better (but still stuck in ep 19 or 20). I wonder if the drama will deviate from the real source or not 🤔
