Oh right, Vegabond! Why oh why? But speaking of which, from what I can recall, while Vegabond's ending would make you feel frustrated (because seriously, why did it have to end right there? Felt pretty much as if it was just the beginning, especially when we were brought back to that opening scene), Signal does give you a complete story despite a couple of questions left hanging over your head by the end of it. Not ideal but good enough closure I think. To each their own of course but if you ask me, it's really great, I'd definitely give it a shot.

I got that. I wasn’t talking about the signals here in its technical/literal sense but it’s signals nevertheless. And sure it could be the mountain telling the ML things as he claimed (though it seemed to me more like an attempt to brush it off lest they thought he was crazy. I think maybe there’s more to it). And yes it’s possible that now his soul is sending signals but all in all, at this point, those signals remain a mystery and can’t be explained by the rangers/normal people/science (yet).

Anyway, I can see why it doesn’t give you the 'Signal’ vibe. But that’s what I feel so let’s just say it can’t be helped or changed. Just wanted to give my take as to why, that’s all.

Only 1 episode's out so we don't know what's coming yet that's why I said I guess/hope we'll be introduced to a completely new idea. I'm not saying idea wise it's the same as Signal, but Ep 1 does give me some familiar vibe.

1. It hints at supernatural elements.
2. There's someone sending signals unknown and can't be explained by normal people (though in the other drama, 'signals' are sent via a different way or shall I say 'device').
3. That 'someone' can be from another time/universe/a ghost etc. or a soul as you've suggested, which of course we don't know yet.

Those don't ring a bell? Or maybe it's just me. To be fair, I watched Signal ages ago but I hope my brain didn't get it mixed up with other dramas.

Yes, it's about the Kdrama Signal by the same writer. I watched it a few years ago (though just added it to my list recently) so can't remember the details but for me it was an awesome crime thriller (with some quite unique time travel/parallel elements). As far as I remember, there were a cliffhanger and some mysteries to be solved so many viewers hoped for another season, but it's been forever and still no news I think. But I'd say it's worth it.

I skimmed through some comments before watching Ep 1 and thought the supernatural 'twist' everyone was talking about was probably 'Kingdom' material with zombie jump scares or something similar. Turns out it's 'Signal'.

I loved that series (been hoping for Season 2), and am intriged by the twist here at the end of Ep 1 but I guess (or hope?) the writer brings in a completely new idea. This episode did take me back to Signal though.

Anyway, I love the cast, especially the JJH double power, enjoyed the pilot and will be here until the end of the ride.

If this show were a male beauty contest, we'd have a hard time choosing a winner.

I'm not saying KSH is a saint. Sure he wouldn't have apologised if he'd treated her right and done all the noble things. He obviously failed her as a partner. I know that much. But there's a line between being a coward and an abuser. He could be an ass for asking and convincing her to get the abortion - which was highly likely what happened, but 'forced abortion' is a serious claim (can be a legal issue, mind you) that I wouldn't pin on someone so quickly based on nothing else but an anonymous text. The world is already too chaotic, imagine what it would become if we all believe in rumours and unverified sources so blindly? Imagine if that post targeted you or someone close to you, would you have reacted the same way? I'm all for victims of abuse to come forward but not in such a way that many people would have a hard time believing and giving credit for.

And no, I didn't question her motives, though to be honest, I wouldn't give much credit to anonymous accusations through unreliable sources. Only when KSH came out with his statement did I start to believe there was a certain level of truth in the original post. I refrain from discussing her motives 'cause what do I know about her? Sure her identity has now been revealed but it's also unverified so that’s about it. Even if the identity is comfirmed, I wouldn't judge someone I know nothing about and has nothing to do with me.

As you seemed to strongly believe that KSH would have denounced that abortion part if it was indeed a false allegation, I was just backing up my view that in sensitive cases like this, when a man, any man for that matter, is accused of that or something similar, even if the accusation is false, whatever he says to defend himself or justify his actions when almost everyone is looking at him with judgy eyes would (usually) only make them bash him even more. That’s why I said, ’why continue to broadcast it to the public’?, as in if I were him, with so much damage already done, guilty or not, I would take the matter privately from there on, out of the public eye, to prevent further humiliation and damage for both parties and anyone else involved. I’d say the same about anyone who is in the same situation.

I'm not a fan of such a vague statement from KSH, but he didn’t exactly owe the public an apology, did he? Sure as a celebrity, he is usually expected to, in a sense, ‘answer’ to the demanding crowd (I don't know, because he disappointed them? to save his image? well, it can be due to a lot of things I guess). But if you ask me, I would rather him spend his energy and time to reflect on his mistakes and apologise to the girl directly, which is what he did, apparently.

Absolutely agree that forced abortion is a serious issue and should not be taken lightly. But that's also why I think despite how probable you think it is, we should not jump to conclusions without hard facts.

Now let's not talk KSH, just celebs in general.

If one forced his girlfriend or wife to have an abortion, that's awful. There's no way to justify such behaviour. However, if he is accused of doing so but in fact didn't. Say, maybe he didn't want to keep the baby and tried to convince her, but what if none of what he did in the process was violent or considered abusive/manipulative, and so it's indeed not a forced abortion, like really not, in every sense of the word (again, this is general speaking, not about this case and KSH). What would he say to clear himself of the allegation then? I am quite sure whatever words come out of his mouth would still come across as lame excuses to most people and make him look more pathetic, so why bother? Maybe it's just me but I'd rather keep quiet and deal with it in private. Why continue to broadcast it to the public? Nothing good would come out of it for either party, really.

Anyway, we could go on and on but what's the point? At the end of the day, it's their private matters, eh?

Of course his admitting he hurt her and apologising means the allegations were not baseless and that he did do her wrong. I did say that, didn't I?

My heart goes out to the lady, and I genuinely hope that she will find peace after what she's gone through, but what I was trying to say is we are not given KSH's side of the story in detail so we still don't know exactly what happened or the extent of his wrongdoing. Sure most or all of her claims could be correct but how can we be sure? We know nothing about what was going on behind the scenes. So when it comes to private matters like these, I'd leave it at that rather than dig into it further by making my own assumptions and letting them mess with my head or add fuel to the fire.

KSH made mistakes and so he has to face the consequences, which he is. But it doesn't mean he doesn't deserve forgiveness if he truly is sorry, is taking responsibility and trying to put things right. I loved KSH as an actor, but I don't understand stan culture and I don't support cancel culture either. I'm just talking about humans in general and trying to speak common sense.

It's a lot to take in. I'm sure many of us are still trying to wrap our heads around this.

But at the end of the day, what do we know about their private lives and relationship? Do we know what happened exactly? Did he really force her to have the abortion? Did she expose him in revenge for breaking up with her? We don't know any of that. His statement is quite vague. No concrete detail is admitted or verified. We heard her account and we're making assumptions. I'm not defending anyone, I'm just stating the information and facts (or lack thereof) that I've learned.

All that is confirmed from both sides is he hurt her due to his, I quote, 'incompetence and lack of consideration'. Which means he did do some things wrong. So I can only say that I hope he's sincerely sorry, that he's taking time to reflect on his mistakes and will put things right. I hope she will find peace and can move on. I also hope both of them are taking care of their health, both physically and mentally, and have the support system they need.

I won't talk about KSH here 'cause K is merely K until the indentity is revealed and confirmed. I'm just talking about humans in general.

I'm not saying the accusations are true, but let's say even if they aren't completely off base, we'll probably never know the whole truth and who actually is the bad guy here, unless we're talking illegal deeds.

I mean with the same behavior under the same circumstances, you can make one sound like just any normal human being who has their not-proudest moments and sometimes makes mistakes, or a total jerk who is two faced, if you want to.

Imagine these:

Ver 1:
I got pregnant. We both got panicked. We thought long and hard and talked about it. I wanted to keep the baby but he didn't. He got more panicked, he cried a bit, cursed a little. We talked some more. He finally convinced me and I decided it was probably for the best.

Ver 2:
Forced abortion.

Badmouthing

Ver 1:
I asked him if he thought his female co-star was pretty. He told me she was ugly (so that I wouldn't get jealous, I know, he's so cute).

Ver 2:
He once told me his female co-star was ugly.

Wait, how about Ver. 3 'I've lost count of the number of times he badmouthed his female co-stars, saying they're ugly'.

I'm not saying those were true, but possible. If you want to make someone the bad guy, it's not hard to take things out of context, or twist them here and there to make their actions sound mean-spirited and ill-intended.

A half truth can be more dangerous than a lie, we probably all know that.

And if the person tries to justify their actions, how? They'd just look petty and pathetic in the public eyes. And so often, it's too late then with too much damage caused.

I tried to skim through a few chapters of the manga to get the gist of key events and the ending but quickly gave up as the characters' names got me all confused, also I couldn't tell who was who 'cause all faces looked the same to me 🙈. Guess I should be more patient with the show then.

I first saw him in Extracurricular and was quite impressed but I also didn't realise he's in the cast until Ep3. What a treat to see him again indeed!

Oh I didn't remember his name either! I remembered the character though. So I actually got the name from the cast list :)

'Cause young Hyun appeared in both Ep1 and Ep2. Eunuch Hong even said aloud once he's her cousin to warn her who he was as she had no idea back then (she was still a court maid at that point).

They'd better give us a Homecha - Special episode with at least an uncut bed scene + Sikhye's wedding with the 2D1N gang attending as either guests or a dance group performing on the stage + dimple babies a few years later.
