So… TEOH is set in a time of coup d’etat (from monarchy or something similar to military dictatorship, I assume). Then, Shine (which I see in description, is set in years 1969-71) is set in a time before, and the start of the revolution that lead to the 3-year democracy government “try-out”, I assume. And this series is the conclusion, with the return of the military dictator, the massacre and guerrilla fighting — is that the return to the military regime that you’ve mentioned? Or did they win over the opposition portrayed in this BL and then there was another military regime?
This seems like a series where the romance plot, while important to the characters and their actions individually, will generally take a second place, behind action and political intrigue. Also, it might not be immediately clear cut out “here’s the main man, here’s the woman, they’re going to fall in love” when you know that these 2 characters are a pair from the start, but it might be more complicated. That’s great! It looks very interesting.
I wonder how many episodes will be pre-time jump and how many will be after. I hope we get a lot of their friendship…
Agreed. I wish… I think, it’d be best if their story just moved along naturally (through time, the years) without a harsh time jump (like “5 years later”), but I don’t know how much can I expect from a kdrama in this matter 😅
