It honestly isn't a 10/10, not even close, frankly but it is still a very good drama.
Agreed. ending is bad, all meh. That's why 8.6 is reasonable. MDL rating is just a guide. I've watched a lot of drama from 7.3 to 8.3 and I enjoy most of them. It's better to be realistic with rating. My Mister is 9.1 i tried to watch 2 episode but its not for me. I guess to each their own. Homecha is still highly recommendable but it's not 10 /10 as being suggested.
I don't see Chief Hong as any of those things. As you can remeber he constantly blamed himself for his grandfather's…
I watched Monthly Magazine home. Kim Ji-seok character was way too cringey to watch. Although i enjoyed the supporting roles. But i didn't finish the last 2 episode.

Agreed. 8.9 is a very generous rating. I am expecting it to go down when the drama ends next week. Even Squid Game which is currently trending worldwide has only 8.6. Can't fault the actors of HomeCha they are all good. The problem lies in the storyline and 'sometimes' lazy directing.
I don't see Chief Hong as any of those things. As you can remeber he constantly blamed himself for his grandfather's…
He's on his way to being healed. The last one was Love from HyeJin. But why these people has to show-up and ruined his peace. He has made his life alive again, doing all sort of things, finding enjoyment in little things... my question is why the writer chose that humiliating scene. They could have had their confrontation with just PD Ji and HyeJin around. But why expose Dusik weakness to the villagers. They did a beautiful scene with the divorce couple having their realisation of what caused their heartbreak, but why made it messy with Dushik issue.
Yeah, putting aside the differences, you are outing someone on something they might not be prepared to discuss…
I am not really keen on watching on-going kdrama. Because I always ended up on ep.14. I like binged-watching because you can skip the cliffhanger and just enjoy the ending... One the woman is good.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm a carer for a family member, and one of my close friends has PTSD so I'd say I…
Thank you for your nice words. I wouldn't mind if it's categorised as Drama or Melodrama, suspense or thriller. I would have still watch it. But the promotions has been telling that it's a healing drama. It is not! Nowadays it's a trend to use a portrayal of Mental Issues in drama , its taking away the significance of the real problem. It is like someone who label themselves as having OCD because they frequently wash their hand... people who really suffer from OCD has no life at all. They scrub their walls, they fear public places. Etc.... but because people are trivializing the illness, they don't really know what the real sufferer has to overcome.
Yeah, putting aside the differences, you are outing someone on something they might not be prepared to discuss…
Why do you like it so much? No offense meant, just curious. As you have mentioned above, you've been watching kdrama for the last 10 years. How this one is different from the rest?
Does getting punch in the face really necessary to point out that Dushik has done something really bad that caused his trauma?! Why made a grandeur scene out of it, and in-front of all the village people who he treasure the most!
If that happens to anyone, can you ever live your tranquil life the same again? No! You would die of shame. Not of your trauma, which is hard enough to carry on your own, but knowing that all the people in the village know what you have done, are the worst shame at all. In real life, this is why most people commit suicide. Not the trauma but not being able to face the people who put their trust in you.
There are 3 secrets in Gongjin.
The first was the cause of the divorce of Hwa-jeong and Yeong Guk. They gave us an answer to this. There was no funfare when it was revealed and they patched their differences between themselves without the whole village getting involved.
The 2nd secret was the lottery winner. Though it hasn't revealed yet but it already eliminated the speculations that it was either Dushik or the Policeman. Again the village was not involved with the revelations.
The 3rd secret was what happened to Dushik during the past 5 years, this time the whole village and outsiders were there to witness his humiliations. Why is that?!!
From the first episode up to the 13th, the series has built the ML character so high only for the viewers to see him fall from above. Can it be done without the whole village as a witness to his downfall. It made him look like a fraud. Looking so cool, doing all sort of admirable skills but behind the character was someone who fall short of a murderer, blamed as the caused of a person's death and another person's disability.
This is not a healing drama for me. More of a Melodrama, which is a better description. There is no happy ending here. Because the ML will carry the burden all his life. No kiss, no wedding, no children can make-up for the embarrassment that the particular scene has caused. The ending will still look like a happy one. But imagine after that? Constant reminder of your past will always be the talk of the town.
and before anyone can comment if I understand Mental Illness, like the other day I was asked if I had given birth... I experienced both, 2 weeks after I gave birth I lost my mother without even seeing her because I was so far away. I suffered from PTSD after that, and was taking anti-depressant for awhile. I stopped taking them a long time ago and just like Dushik, I just occupied myself with other things. I took courses, do hobbies and the best therapy for me was watching KDrama and lately 2D1N is also a good thing to watch, a stress reliever. ..
I binged watched since yesterday. This is good. There are lots of funny scenes and so far i haven't seen any loopholes. The storylines are well connected.
Although it really bugged me that nobody called an ambulance or a doctor or took Yunkyung to a hospital after…
Yes I have given birth if that's relevant. That's why i said i completely sympathise with her during their argument in their shop. Her sentiment was totally valid. her emotions, her fear, the actress delivered her scene beautifully... the part where she's about to give birth, if its funny, did you laugh? Is it funny she's screaming while holding her husband's hair? It was already mentioned before by other commentators, violence is never funny. This slapstick humour are no longer acceptable in todays society.
And also, it took away HyeJin's highlight. That she's admirable when time is tough. In the movie, this is where DuShik fully admired her skills. It supposed to make their bond stronger. Instead, the production has chosen to show us not only a slapstick humour but also a lazy delivery of the scene where it's not even believable. If that is acceptable to you, fine enjoy. Let's just be subjective next time and not used personal attack. It's better to communicate that way. More civilized. βοΈ
This is definitely a 'Mr Handy, Mr Hong' remake. If you had watch the movie, you would know that most of the scenes…
I think one must watch the movie version to be able to understand the simple story. There's nothing really grande about the storyline and it may not suit other people who have watched more conflicting storyline.
Everyone's perception is that HJ has high expectations, worldly and snub. But for me, its DuShik who looks down on HyeJin for having this quality. He acts and behave like what he think and say is what is right. Because he's a scholar, a child wonder, he knows much better than anyone else. How many times did he give his advise to other people. He acts superior in an endearing way (probably because he's good looking π) but what if he's just an average Joe, then we'll say he's just a nosy person.
In the movie, the part where HyeJin showed her skill delivering the baby was supposedly the highlight of DuShik admiration. The actor in the movie has shown pride and admiration. Sadly the drama didn't interpret it like that, instead it highlighted the couple's trouble.
I wonder how this drama will end, next episodes are very crucial for the rating. The writer should give a better reason for Dushik trouble and not just blaming himself for something he has no control of like the death of his grandpa.
Tbh, I am only for the rating. For some reason, i am rooting so hard for Kim Seon-Ho.. i really want this drama to reach a high rating. I also like SikHye couple's chemistry and all the supporting actors has top calibre performance and you can feel that everyone has worked hard but let's admit it the storyline is a bit flat. This is just based on my personal opinion no offence intended βοΈ

You must be new to kdrama as that scene is overused. Even other country used that slapstick scene where the wife screaming at their husband because giving birth is painful. It meant to be funny but it's not! It's actually an insult to women of today being portrayed like a screaming bi*** is not like that anymore. Women has more endurance and patient and understanding. I understand her feelings while she was having a go at her husband in their store and its s true portrayal of what women goes through having a baby and raising a family, they shouldn't extend the angst after that.
what was that paper slip which the ex husband found in trash?
Dushik smiled was so lovely that part. He gave Hwa-Jeong a knowing look. He knows that hwa-jeong picked up her name but shouted Yeong-guk instead. Even Nam-suk knows she lied.
Although it really bugged me that nobody called an ambulance or a doctor or took Yunkyung to a hospital after…
I do agree that the scene was not up to the standard. Totally unrealistic, the baby didn't even cry and the room was pristine. HyeJin's clothes are even immaculate. No scissor to cut the umbilical cord. I wonder how she gave birth in that position. There's not even a basin of water and towel... there were so many wrong in that scene.
What they should have done, they should just picture her having labour pain and ffwrd to the next day. But no, they used the scene to throw grievances at each other. They could have done the heavy drama afterwards. It somehow ruined a perfectly balance episode for me. Just saying π
This is definitely a 'Mr Handy, Mr Hong' remake. If you had watch the movie, you would know that most of the scenes from the movie had been used and expounded. As the title suggests the storyline revolve around Mr Hong and the movie was filmed in 2004, imagine how long ago that was. The writer and directorial team must have had a hardtime adapting the original storyline to the current perception and views of people nowadays.
Can someone be kind enough to explain who the people in pics are? Please mark ur response as spoiler. Thanks alot
Tomorrow's episode might be a revelation. My guess is that he's close-friend with the guy and he must have died. The woman, I am not sure if i am correct but from the preview she's driving the car that passed-by Dushik.
