Right now Shi-Mok is same as every other kdrama hero out there and now writer is left with only 1 option to show Shi-Mok being different - Make Shi-Mok superhero hero. Episode 05 truly shows why this Stranger is so underwhelming. Prose was strength of Stranger but this show has no carefully crafted, round-about, and inline talk at all. Director and Writer both are spoon feeding the audience as well as making Main characters act out-of-character. Writer intentionally became preachy about Prosecutors life through Jae. This time writer is forcefully moving the story as well as trying to divert audience traffic in specific direction too, rather than allowing audience form their own views and opinions about the subject matter. Also, Shi Mok vs. Yeo Jin scenario writer+director are trying hard to play but its cliche and lack lustre approach with no efforts from both. Even without any comparison yu can find issue with the whole storyline. The show tries to be idealistic but has no aim or energy to move ahead.
Stranger isn't about few characters that mimic real life human but it always about the whole system that operates a society and this time the faults of the system are right in the face. Stranger has broader purpose and so far i say its going a bit cliche where 2 departments are fighting for more power where a common man has no voice at all. They are propelling the name of common man but actually are working for their own benefits. Heck, even there its mostly a fight between those who are at the highest hierarchy as these are the people with enough power to make and break governments and bring down any business out there.

Writer seems like have so many things to say against females. Every single female character in the show is annoying, selfish and deceiving the hero. Writer's intentional attempt to put females in -ve light is just an act to create drama or its quite possible that writer does see females in such -ve light.
1st week is the story setup week of tv dramas. And here we are getting the initial story as well as characters and their motivations. This time concept is even more broader and strong and direction is good but i see story faltering quite a bit. Chinese dramas story go horrible after 1st week but this drama is horrible in it 1st week itself. Negetivity from the start. Writer is trying hard to make audience feel pity for Hero. And we all know from the opening spoilers that child will be with whom. You can see wife being wrong on many levels and then writer comes up with excuse of Post-pregnancy depression. Well, that excuse actually works for a little while and then writer flips it over with next scene of wife. Writer is more confused than wife and writing Soap-Opera to stretch the episodes as much possible.
Episode 05 wow. Girls face this and then girls character is questioned. This show really hits hard at social bigotry of society. It might look cheap but ushijima is made to look more human. Yeah all that looks like excuse but we have to accept that family has big influence on a its members. So, even though Ushijima's family troubles is ridiculous but it also is quite realistic.
