I think it's a bit more believable that a couple of young men would be so prone to "instant love" ... the original general was genuinely older and so gave a very different feel to the "instant love" thing ...
TBH, I dont even know whats the point of this drama, when the 2nd couple have barely any screentime, when this…
This is almost entirely the same script as the 2001 original, so any drama with screen time happened 20+ years ago π This was never designed to focus exclusively on the one couple in the first place, though....
The multiple couple wedding thing makes this drama look like it was written by a child. I can appreciate the acting…
Just for some context, this story is probably older than you are. What people enjoyed and found funny back then may be different. That said, Shakespeare wrote a couple of plays with a similar plot - minus the weddings - so the concept has been around for a lot longer than you might think. But I don't see the problem with the ending....
Did they know that 500 or 1000 years ago??? Is that even true?
Thanks for the link. This made me revise my thinking. I was focused on the actual riding itself, and not considering the alternative risks like falling. To be fair, though, I suspect the vast majority of women from that time wouldn't have been riding in the first place. Horses were expensive and riding would have been seen as a primarily male occupation. Our heroine would have been riding in the first trimester, and given her backstory would likely have been as good a rider as her male peers.
Just want to drop a note here: if you didn't like this one because of the script, you won't like the original any better. It's almost verbatim the same script [hence it being described as a remake].
I really enjoyed the original and enjoyed this version as well. But if you don't do light fluffy dramas with silly highly coincidental scripts, you won't enjoy either version.
Couldn't agree more. 1st FL should stand out from the rest, disappointed her country bumpkin behaviour is not…
Bingyan's parents didn't ever meet either Tianlei OR his family, IIRC, before they married. It was entirely a business deal. And her parents picked him BECAUSE he was dying. They didn't seem to much care if they'd be compatible. On Yutu's side, the general basically threatened them into sending her to him as a bride. There wasn't much discussion about compatibility there, either. Basically both families treated their daughters like commodities, and it was only after the mix-up that they got some agency in their marital relationships. So I think the Right Groom moniker is appropriate because the girls actually DECIDED to stay where they were after interacting with the men, which was a lot better than what they'd been subjected to by their so-called well-meaning parents.

IIRC they do all meet at the end, and seem quite happy to stick to the partners they fake-married. In both instances the girls had the opportunity to, and even attempted to return to their homes. I don't think the GUYS were interested in meeting the other women. But as you say, you can always move to another drama if you don't like the one you're watching .... and there's SO much stuff out right now, you would be quickly able to find something ....
I cannot stand the FL from the martial arts family. Dropped.
LOL ... Mango is NOTORIOUS!!!! They do occasionally have decent eng subs, but you never know until you actually start watching the drama .... KML ... Tencent and Youku are usually pretty decent, though I know tencent does sometimes use machine translations for their short form dramas. Check out that website I mentioned. They manage to have pretty decent eng subs for just about everything .

I think I support the old thinking about opposites attract. Tianlei would have been bored by Binyan. She's too serious and would not have indulged his playful side. Yuhu is brash and playful, which is what Tianlei hasn't had a chance to be. She fulfills his needs. What also may not be as apparent as it could be is that Tianlei is a BETTER kong fu practitioner than she is, and she actually appreciates and looks up to him for that, where Bingyan would at best tolerate him. Yutu also genuinely LIKES him for himself, not out of family obligations or because he is rich. Finally, Yuhu did NOT snatch Tianlei. He was first intrigued by and then fell in love with her. She actually made several attempts to leave, but was persuaded to stay by his efforts and love talk. And Bingyan was bored by her pre-marriage life. I think she fell in love with the general's lifestyle as much as she did with the general himself. The whole point of the drama is that on the surface the couples seemed compatible, but the mix up actually created pairings that were better for each of the characters concerned.
She's his adopted mother.... but I agree they could have aged her a bit more. Modern 40-year old Chinese women…
Unlike the original, very few people in this drama look "old" ... even the ML's grandmother looks relatively young for her age ... lol I do think the adopted mother is rather younger than his real mother, though, so looking like a sister is not that surprising ...
