I cannot stand the FL from the martial arts family. Dropped.
I only endured 1 episode of The Starry Love so far. [Maybe I'll try it again later and it won't annoy me as much lol] I think we just have different tastes.

It's also on Kisskh, I think, where they only put the Eng subs, if you need that for any particular show ... [not just this one] I'm actually using both subs because I'm trying to improve my Mandarin reading .... You do you.... There are so many great dramas out there, no need for you to suffer what I'm enjoying .... lol ...
Its a 24 eps drama, and I think there will be a focus a few couple of episodes about separating them and sending…
He seems to be a pretty loyal and upright sort, and since he already took a beating so he could keep her with him, I don't think he'll be easily separated from her.
The mother of the guy at the herbs store could perfectly be his sister 😆😆
She's his adopted mother.... but I agree they could have aged her a bit more. Modern 40-year old Chinese women might look like their peers who are 10 or 15 years younger, but in the Tang dynasty that would have been much less likely ...
Yo, why the hell he cut her hair? The dudes get to keep their long hair! She had pretyt long hair! GRRR.
The hair cutting is her punishment for entering the all male barracks in drag. Since he was supposed to behead her, the hair cutting is a serious downgrade. But still SUPER embarrassing in the culture of that time.
I don’t know if is just me by I didn’t find it romantic at all the scene with both of their hairs
The hair thing is a big culture thing. Traditionally you were NEVER supposed to cut your hair, so a woman having her hair cut off in public was extremely embarrassing. The romance is supposed to come in because the general not only saved her hair [i.e. it's precious to him] but cut his own hair in front of her and added it to hers. Symbolically this implies their union on both the physical, social and metaphysical planes... basically he's telling her he views her as a part of him from now on, and whatever she endures, he will endure as well. There's also a custom, IIRC, of newlyweds each contributing a lock of hair which is then mixed together and turned into some talisman for their firstborn [not sure if I have this completely correct, but you get the general idea].
Couldn't agree more. 1st FL should stand out from the rest, disappointed her country bumpkin behaviour is not…
They're really not supposed to be 1st and 2nd ML / FL.... more like equal .... and I think the 2nd CP is meant to be more mature in their attitudes and behaviour because they're older. But the point is that the two couples really are better matched on a personality level than they would have been originally. I found in the original [and here, too] that I'm more engaged by the STORY of the 1st CP and more by the RELATIONSHIP of the 2nd CP.
The maid with Yu Hu is nice and very supportive. In truth or dare, the maid was rather rude and condescending…
The maid, Xiao Xi, was one of the main reasons for their success and survival ... She is intelligent, observant and resourceful ... was a major player in the original version. The original actor who played her Cui Yi, is still an active Cdrama performer, and was most recently seen in this year's popular drama Meet Yourself.

Hahaha i was waiting this drama for 1st lead but damn after watching this drama i have switched to 2nd couple.…
Their scenes in the original version were even more on the blushing side in the original ... I admit I was a bit worried that the general wouldn't turn out to be interesting this time... so glad to be wrong!

Just different tastes, I guess...
