Title The Immortal Ascension Spoiler
why do supporting characters have more screen time than the FL? I hate it
… because she is labeled as having the main role due to her popularity rather than the significance of her character.

Additionally, the platform requested the production to cut a significant amount of material. Who knows how much screen time her original role had in the drama? In the novel and donghua, her role is minimal, but in the TV drama, they can add, remove, or change events and characters as they see fit.

Labeling this drama as a "romance" is a major letdown for viewers expecting a happy ending, along with more hugs, kisses, and affectionate interactions. The story revolves around Han Li and his journey from being a mortal to achieving immortality, not a journey centered on love.

In my opinion, they allocated most of the budget for drama on special effects, martial arts choreography, and actor salaries, while only budgeting few yuan for the aerial camera. The setting lacks variety; there are not many buildings, as most of the action happens on rocky terrain or in the desert. While the scenery is indeed beautiful, it feels a bit excessive. I feel like they spent too much time either in the desert or on top of hills.

Because there are a lot of CGI, we need to control the cost.
I rectified the number but it is rumored...

It is rumored that in order to create realistic and shocking visual effects, the crew spent 200 million yuan (about 825 million Taiwan dollars) to produce special effects. The whole play cost up to NT$1.3 billion to shoot. The high-standard production was praised by the audience as the "ceiling of fairy and chivalrous drama".

On average, the adaptation is 70% faithful to the novel. Some events are 30%. However, the overall consistency…
You are welcome.

The acting is great, the VFX are well-done, the visuals are stunning, the music works, but there is something…
I agree; it's good but not great. What’s missing for me is the emotional interaction. It’s interesting because I enjoyed the farewell between Han Li and Doctor Mo, I appreciated Mentor Xu’s relationship with HL and was teary at his death, I liked Miss Mo's performance, and I found Li Fey Yu engaging. However, something still feels lacking. And no, it’s not romance—I don't care about romance at all. In fact, I'm glad there aren't any romantic elements. Although the scenery is gorgeous, I was not in awe when they gathered at the same cave. The beasts do not have the wow factor for me.

Honestly, I enjoy the drama. I have a particular fondness for Yang Yang's performances, as he brings a captivating energy to his role. This is a surprise because I am not particularly a fan but I truly enjoy his performance here. Additionally, I find the supporting cast to be exceptionally talented, contributing greatly to the overall narrative.

I have a nagging feeling that the script may be lacking in certain areas, possibly due to the director's influence. This time, I'm keeping an open mind about the TV drama and I'm not upset about the omitted events or characters compared to the donghua and the novel. I hope to have a clearer understanding by the end of the series. My instinct tells me that they may have cut too much material to fit into the 30 episodes.

Somehow, the feeling of "great" lost its appeal after the fourth episode.

60 episodes-Does the story become boring mid way(2/3 of story) or after some episodes like other long dramas?
One of my favorite c-drama. Few love stories. Great acting. So to answer your question. No, it doesn't get boring

I absolutely adored this drama; it captivated me in every way imaginable. From the compelling storyline to the intricately developed characters, every element resonated deeply with me. The emotions it evoked were profound, and the performances were nothing short of exceptional. It truly left a lasting impression on my heart.

I felt that the conversations with Miss Mo/Han Li and Miss Chen / Han Li were too long. I am also a bit tired to see nangong cultivating on her rock. Does she even have a house? But I enjoy Patick Zhang so much! Lol

The 2 long 1on1 conversations... I believe this was due to several reasons: 1) to please their fans, 2) mandatory screen time in their contracts, 3) to include some romantic moments in the show, 4) to demonstrate that he had no interest in romance and wished to remain a monk for his entire life, or 5) all of the above.

I get why Han Li had to give the Memory Pills to Qian Qian the initial few times but why did he give it to her…
Agreed. It was not necessary.

Han Li activating the portal in the cave and escaping?
Yes. It was very obvious when he left, sealed the place and mention he may use it later.

It is important to be prepared for a few things:

1. Texts are often machine-translated by AI, which means they can contain typos, grammatical errors, inconsistencies, and nonsensical phrases. Additionally, many translations struggle with pronoun usage (he, she, it).

2. Some websites offer a few chapters for free but require payment for access to the rest, while others may provide full access for free. Many of these sites share same content/document.

3. Chinese web literature often features lengthy narratives, frequently exceeding 2500-6000chapters. For instance, "Mortal Journey" contains approximately 7.7 million words and has 2,456 chapters. However, it's important to note that these translations are unofficial, and the number of chapters may vary.

If you are aware of these issues and are willing to tolerate them, it can be worthwhile. Simply search for the name of the drama (record of a mortal’s journey to immortality) along with the word “novel,” and you will be directed to relevant sites.

If you're willing to purchase, 6 volumes are available on Amazon, and the English translation is decent.

Dude as for ep 18, the bush is there. Since we are shown aerial view first with bush being kinda yellowish-brown…
If you closely examine each frame, you will notice the differences in distance. And yes, I have plenty of free time between episodes. Bwahahaha!
