This drama probably was shot like back to back between The Wolf, Joy of Life, and Untamed, judging by Xiao Zhang's appearance (looked mid 20s). So most likely he didnt rest.
Lately noticed many high production dramas shot 2019 and before just released like Doulou Continent, Rebel Princess, Wolf, etc
The ending provided some hope for Season 2. Although there were unnecessary and draggy parts btw eps. 30-34, however the ending in ep. 36 explained everything so the loopholes were somewhat covered. I'd say when you all reach ep. 30, just jump to ep. 35 because there were many flashbacks and watch the last episode 36 to finish the entire drama!
Yay!! i completed this drama although i will only score this at 8 points.
I like how this drama pays attention to details. In the end if ep.7 , the small jetty that Princess Shanyang waited for 3rd Prince to elope with was so beautiful in daylight.
This is what i mean by high quality production because just for a short few minutes of scenes the details in lanterns, steps, the clear river water at the small jetty was truly a captivating view.
The thought of a 68-episode series usually makes me tired just thinking about it but I can't help myself. REBEL…
TQVM for writing and summing up all the thoughts and expectations of the silent majority. Audience should look at the BIGGER picture.
I have nothing against idol dramas, just that these type of audience may be less appreciative of overall good quality production and pinpointing at weaknesses that are actually bearable.
The story pacing are quite fast. Up to ep. 12 and the main characters have already fought wars, upgraded their cultivation, declare their love to each other, repeated betrayals, important supporting characters died then revenge, etc.
No waste time and not even one moment was unimportant to the story telling including scenes with Fan Cheng Cheng and Cheng Xiao.
Decent xinxia drama to start for 2021! I mean don't expect Game of Thrones CGI with hundreds of millions USD budget y'all!!
Its good enough and you can tell that its considered high budget production for a Cdrama. Although most leads are rookie actors but they are bearable bcos the story telling and pacing are ok so far up ep. 10. Fan Cheng Cheng's xinxia acting debut is considered acceptable and serious as there was no intentional slow-mo to showcase his handsome face or what not.
I'm surprised because I didn't expect Fan Cheng Cheng to act that well. He's really natural imo like all the expressions…
Agree! Putting Fan Cheng Cheng together with other rookie actors like FL- Cheng Xiao, he's xinxia acting debut drama is considered better than expected.
I also like the directing of the drama where every scene mainly about telling the story with good CGI. Nowadays many idol wuxia/xinxia like to emphasize in slow motion of main leads handsome/beautiful faces to waste time. None so far in this drama after watching ep. 10 so far!!
My impression is that the producers just borrowed the backstory of the novel/webtoon and expanded it to a psychological thriller of 40 episodes long drama.
I am trying to watch this drama as an independent drama to bring down the expectation.
If this is a kdrama, the best Korean actor to play ML Feng Shiao Sheng will be Lee Soo Hyuk, the actor who played the evil vampire in The Scholar Who Walks The Night. The villian is cold blooded and to match the webtoon or manhua drawing, the actor playing should be someone I imagine white/fairer complexion and longer hair length??.....
This just gets better as it progress. Can't wait for ep.9!! I just love to watch how much love and concern the Eonni Senior Counters have for So Hun. Not sure if the producer that really wrap up the story with 7 episodes to go.
Ohya! Same screenwriter and 8 common actors in both dramas including Sean Xiao Zhan.
