Your review leads me to really consider if I'll give this show a watch yes or no, because of Jung Kyung. I never…
I watched FFI and gave it a 7.5.
I gave OMHE a 9.
I liked OMHE a lot more overall while i found FFI rather boring at times and the romance was lacking in my opinion.
Both dramas are rom-coms. FFI is more classic romance blended with a melo backstory. OMHE had several stories and focused more on the main story and the love triangle.
Jung Kyung Ho was my favourite thing in both of them. I won't say that the 2 dramas are comparable other than both of them being rom coms, but i do believe OMHE is worth checking out. You might not like it as much as me, but it's not bad at all.
Ok, just to set some things straight. The overwhelming amount of hateful comments here will probably scare people off, and while i do agree that this is boring (sometimes overly boring) and i don't see myself giving it anything higher than a 7, it is really enjoyable, funny, light-hearted and feel-good.
No, it doesn't have that big of a plot, or backstory and it isn't dramatic at all. It focuses heavily on comedy and cuteness while it is also high on romance but not in the usual kdrama way (rich guy x poor girl / arrogant male x girl in need / flower boy x super hot lady) but in a more mature way which doesn't appeal to us. People who want to spend a few hours having fun, laughing and smiling without thinking much, i think will really enjoy this immensely. One man's trash is another man's treasure!
Bonus: you get to see Kim Hee Ae's goddess legs a lot! :D
I hope Jin Myung gets a job she wants, becomes super rich, marries that chef or whoever the fuck she wants and becomes happy for life! She deserves at least this much!! :'(
Funny story: I am watching ep4 and my niece walks in the room (she's 16).
-What are you watching?
-A kdrama
-Oh, it looks good
-How old do you think she is?
-Who her? 25? 23? mid 20s.
-She's 49
-WHAT? NO! I'm not gonna sit here and watch a 50 year old who is hotter than i'll ever be *walks out of the room*
Ugh, you're making me wanna pick it up again. I dropped it around episode 16, too boring and slow for me, no matter how much i loved the story and the cast.
Okay I have to say I love this drama, I love how the production team wasn't afraid to talk about topics which…
Every person/character has a trauma/psychological problem. Yina's lovers are more important because they are the consequenses of her problems. She hates herself, and she keeps searching for ways to feel re-assured about herself and feel loved even for a little while. Her lovers do that.
On the other hand EunJae's problem is that she is shy and she can't stand up for herself. A love triangle serves no real purpose other than complicate her story to make it interesting.
I counted all the personal screen time the girls had outside of the house. I only counted the scenes that they were alone and the scenes that helped us get to know them.
Ep 1 (EunJae’s main ep – her scenes, scenes in the house and scenes that aren’t related to their personal story are not counted)
Ye Eun: 24 seconds
Jin Myung: 25 sec
Yina: 20 sec
Ji won: -
This episode featured Eunjae almost solely. The other girls get almost no screen time alone.
Ep 2 (Ye Eun’s main ep)
EunJae: 1 minute 12 seconds
Jin Myung: 2 minutes 49 seconds
Yina: 4 minutes 57 seconds
Ji won: 2 minutes 23 seconds
This episode featured less Eunjae but she got a lot of screen time as she was constantly with Yeeun talking about the rest of the girls.
Ep 3 (Yina’s Main ep)
Eunjae: 8 minutes 30 seconds
Yeeun: 2 minutes 20 seconds
JinMyung: 6 minutes 44 seconds
Jiwon: 5 minutes 30 seconds
The scenes of Eunjae and Jiwon together are counted towards Eunjae as they helped only Eunjae, Jiwon was there for the laughs.
Ep 4 (Jin Myung’s Main ep)
Eunjae: 1minute 40 seconds
Yeeun: 2 minutes
Yina: 4 minutes 4 seconds
Ji Won: -
This episode again had no Ji Won, she was only seen with the rest of the girls chatting/gossiping about Jin Myung and in the house while interviewing for a new housemate.
Overall screen time in non-centric episodes
Eunjae: 11 minutes 12 seconds
Yeeun: 4 minutes 44 seconds
Yina: 9 minutes 24 seconds
Jin Myung: 9 minutes 58 seconds
Ji Won: 4 minutes 54 seconds
The air time outiside their main stories seems pretty fair to me, moreor less. If we count in the minutes we get to see the girls together all actresses get a fair amount of screen time.
Let's all take a moment and appreciate how SMOKING HOT Kim Hee Ae is... She looks better than 70% of 20 year olds.…
Aw, thank you for the compliment :D. Have you watched valid love yet? I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it once you get to watch it! :D
I'll try to watch that episode of running man, i have never watched that variety before, but have heard of it a lot.
Heh, well i'm mostly watching it for the leads since i'm a huge fan of Ji Jin Hee and i like Kim Hee Ae too (isn't it obvious? xD). As of now it is your average rom com but with older people. First 2 episodes were mostly comedic with lots and lots of silly coinsidences. It is enjoyable but nothing extraordinary, at least for now.
Okay I have to say I love this drama, I love how the production team wasn't afraid to talk about topics which…
I still believe we feel that some girls get less air time because we are more interested in their story, but it is not the case.
EunJae doesn't have that much life outside of school and in the house. So what exactly can they show more? This is not a rom com with her as the lead, it is only natural that her love triangle will not get a lot of air time, there's no need to. I think she gets enough air time as it is. We saw her at school, in class, at that trip with the guys, her interaction with the guy who thinks is bullying her are brief but essential for the story to proceed. If they spend more time in her story it would damage the flow of the drama imo.
On the contrary, one can argue that any of the girls get less air time. What about Ye Eun? What have we seen about her? Only her interacting with her boyfriend and bitching about the other girls when they are absent at home. But that is her story, and that is what is essential for her story to proceed.
Maybe some stories need more air time because they are more complicated like Jin Myung. She has a very sad back story that involves family problems that affect and drive her life as it is. Certainly more important than Eun Jae whose problems are natural as she is coming of age.
Also Ji Won, she has yet to have her main episode and what have we seen about her? Drooling over Ye Eun and her relationship, she went on 1 date that failed and she helped EunJae open up a bit (scenes that i count towards EunJae since they continued her story and not Ji Won's).
It all depends on the way you see it. It is natural that you'd want to see more of Eun Jae as she is your favourite, but less screen time is to be expected in dramas that feature 5 leads and are only 12 episodes. Moreover, i doubt they will add more episodes, the drama's viewership is less than 1%, pretty low even by cable standards.
The writer wanted 12 episodes, i'm pretty sure everything will end normally and won't be rushed. 2 centric episodes will be enough for each girl to resolve her problems i think.
Okay I have to say I love this drama, I love how the production team wasn't afraid to talk about topics which…
I understand what you're saying but i believe you are biased because she is your favourite. My favourite is YiNa and i felt like she was ignored in ep4 especially after her main episode in 3. This was not the case however. She just got as much screen time as the rest of them.
About the stories being rushed, considering this is only 12 episodes i worry about it in general. I believe Eun Jae's problems are the easiest to solve so i do believe she'll get her happy ending (considering her "killing" someone isn't as serious as she makes it out to be). Also we can't see her grow from a scared girl to a powerful woman in 2 episodes. These things take time. I am sure she'll get as much time in the spotlight as everyone else.
Okay I have to say I love this drama, I love how the production team wasn't afraid to talk about topics which…
Each episode has a centric character. Ep 1 was Eun Jae ep2 was Ye Eun, ep3 was YiNa and ep4 was Jin Myung. In ep1 Eunjae had the complete focus, everyone else was on the side lines. It is only normal that she will be on the sidelines on other characters' central episodes.
The focus will shift to her again once she gets another central episode. She was the first girl to be introduced but she isn't the main lead. All 5 all the main lead and deserve the same amount of focus and the show is giving them fair screen time in my opinion.

I'm still laughing XD
It all comes down to personal preferences, not gender ones.
Yina's story development though >>>>>>>
*shocked*
Maybe i should retry it at some point.
