I agree with you for the last point, I think exactly the same. I don't disrespect the original because I give credit to the wholesome plot. It's the execution of it that I did not like, and it's not only me.

In my opinion, 5 episodes watched, it's at the same level in terms of acting skills, but it has overcome the original in terms of conveying the message and layered characters

I give more importance to how the drama portrays and conveys the message, rather than having the fangirl or fanboy attitude. Whatever the drama portrays in the good way, I praise it. In My mister I have never felt moved one single time, it was too monodimensional, no real teaching. I would have never act like those characters in my life.
This remake makes me think the opposite.
If people would watch cdramas in a better light, not acting like 11yo fangirls, it would be very better, since the drama is not only actors and it's boring to talk about them only

i have never watched a good kdrama because they have either of a bland happy ending with no tears, or forced happy ending, or either a suppose tragic ending with comedy relief or issued by nonsense.
On the contrary, never watched an imperfect cdrama since 2014, my lowest rating is 9.5

it's up to you. Mostly cdrama fans are not limited to romance, there is a wide range of no-romance series which are successful in China. But i stopped watching kdramas because of it, and because of boring forced happy ending in each of them... cdramas are more realistic in portrayal, no fairytales

There is no romantic plot both in the original and in this remake, and I don't think it can be considered even platonic. It's more like similar souls with different generational ideas but similar in destiny, in a certain way. I'm 10000% preferring this remake in the way it is portraying the plot and depicting the characters. You want to root for them, cheer for them and taking them as an example to follow. They are a very souce of inspiration, the things i have never felt in the original. This remake has a wide range of messages in every detail and every frame and I'm glad.

Finished it now with better subs. How much I cried and I am still convinced people are too sleeping on this drama with such a low rating.
The last 4 episodes are the most meaningful, the most connected piece by piece by present times. This drama should not represent hatred, but due to the new fuel of militarism in Japan, this drama should help to understand that if things will continue along this path, this atrocities can maybe happen to each of us, unfortunately. People watching it should spread the word and help to preserve peace.
Ending is heartbreaking, with a ray of hope, a message to everyone, but sorrow for those characters we all grew to cherish. I loved all the main characters and I'm glad about their choice, but mostly I'm glad that Yukio's characters show how the devil can corrode your sould to the point of lying to yourself even more. Kudos to Jiang Qiling, Zhang Yu and Ying Zheng for their portrayal, and to their little cutie of Lan Xiya.
This will be one of the most cherished drama I will bring with me from 2025.

The remake is doing on point in every points, even this. I have to say, I think the opposite. I prefer their acting over the original, they are equal in being proper actors particularly ML but I think they are better conveying than the originals

Comparison is necessary, but it should be done in every kind of aspects, so acting, portrayal, character development, settings and conveying the message. I like My mister plot in general but this remake is moving me more in the portrayal of the characters and the message conveyed. I see better the whole idea, the whole deep meaning and teaching the original has glimpses of it.

That's why I am saying the drama did not portray the message in the right way. Koreans are always over the top and IU and Lee were not the exception. I couldn't feel moved, I did not perceive any teaching from their characters, and this is the ONLY AIM a drama HAS TO portray. If the drama is made to TEACH the importance of living through difficulties, I want THIS. And My mister did not conveyed this message at all. Maybe YOU are the kind of people trying to cheery up people at funerals, but I would consider it disrespectful. There is a moment for everything, and My mister does not teach you to be cheerful but to be a warrior in life. A dead soul can ever be a warrior? That's what the drama fails.

Well it's not only me that could not feel anything from my mister. For me, it happened to lovely runner too. It's the way portraying those scenes that matters the most. Yes, anticlimatic because the laught makes you forget the "never give up" message because you are too invested in laughing than struggling. The characters never stop to struggle any moment of their life, they don't forget to struggle and fight for their lives, and those exagerrated way in the original totally cut off the mood. Even Ji-An in the original is like a zombie, I like IU but where was she fighting? in her fish-looking way of looking at others? Here You'An is quiet, aloof but her mood shifts, because he wants to live. This message is very bad conveyed in IU's acting, and I like her but I see her flaws.
I watched My Mister, I rated it 3.5 because I like the plot and the main leads' acting, but nothing more. I was not moved, I did not cry, I did not emphatise with them because of those cringe moments ruining the mood. This is a slice of life, that's why there is no romance. It's a slice of life meant to teach people the importance of life no matter what. Some people here in the comments said the original did not work for them, but for me I was disappointed exactly by this. The way of teaching was very very bad, it's like you are at a funeral and you start laughing nonsense and repeatedly, that was my perception of the drama. No mood, no empathy, nothing. A message so important DOES need the right and appropriate way to be conveyed.
Laughing is not so important compared to what they need to teach.
The remake is moving me more because it does exactly what they MANDATORY NEED to do : using the actors and the plot to teach and convey a message. I am mesmerised by Jiang Jiaqi the way I never was with Park, because I can feel the right way his mood shifting, his sorrow, his integrity. Same goes for Zhou Yu'an compared to Ji-An.
Ji-An is not exactly someone wanting to fight for her life or someone that wants to rise after a fall, she does not matter at all. It's not a poker face, it's lacking emotions and it's not what the drama teaches.
I'm sorry if you did not notice all of this in the drama, but I noticed.
Do you know the meaning of "spoling the mood"? That's what was My Mister not for me only, and personally i can't feel moved if you totally ruin the mood destroying the sorrowful and grief atmosphere which is teaching me something, how to fight in life is important.

I love the pace, the setting, the atmosphere. Everything is melancholic and heavy at the perfect point, and yes, it's poignant. Jiang Jiaqi is so serious but too good and charismatic he's perfect. He's our 大叔 (dàshū) : "我的大叔" (Wǒ de dàshū). Zhao Youting was the right choice in age, charisma and acting range.
I like You'An resolution, aloofness but good heart. She is not someone act lightly but she has morale, when she can due to the situation. I can't dislike no character at this point and I'm happy with everything. They are conveying the right message at the right time with the right pace.
Perfect cast and it's still growing in chemistry despite the lack of love story, no one needs it.
honorable mention to my boy Zhang Xincheng in his bad boy era and I still love him.
