JoL has a sequel. It has been delayed in the making but the production team (same one thankfully) will start filming next year. I was thinking to wait JoL2 before, but I just don't have patience so I watched it, the ending is a cliffhanger if you don't mind watching it, but the final according to the novel is HE (I read the ending of the novel, lol). Go Ahead is a very good slice of life drama, outstanding directing, script, and acting nothing else :D

I'll think about it, but the thing is with Cmovies are the subs. Cmovies don't get much attention as Cdramas do because Cdramas get more money from international audience. You need to be iQiyi or Tencent members to be able to watch Cmovies cos they're locked.

I am also a generous rater, normally I rate a little above final rate. But I have a montly ritual to go back and review my ratings and change it if necessary. I mean sometimes I got too emotional when the dramas end and rated them based on feelings, lol

My beginning with C-historical actually is kinda odd. First I watched the light-hearted romcom ones (my first is The Eternal Love not Eternal Love), it was 2 years ago, but I was afraid to watch the serious ones. Then when I watched the popular modern Cdrama Meteor Garden I was quite smitten with the F4 boys and want to follow their future works. I saw Dylan Wang would acted in Ever Night 2. The prequel Ever Night is a serious historical Cdrama. So I already set to watch him when it his drama came out. When I watched Arsenal Military Academy I read the leads already played together in The Legends, another serious historical. So I watched The Legends. The rest is history. I think you should try with the actors whom you watched before and really like. It's definitely a strong motivation to watch a historical drama ;D

There are a lot of historical dramas with good endings (at least open with indication to good ending) but the drag -telling a life journey- and many names and characters indeed are a turned-offs. I see you are a fan of the non-fantasy historical. I have yet to watch The Story of Minglan it's in my PTW since last year. But when I heard they got divorced I was pretty upset. It was the same with in the beginning of my dramaland I wanted to watch DOTS but then the couple got divorced, it took me one year that I finally was able to watch it. I guess I am an emotional watcher, lol!

Lol... I went through my custom lists to figure out why I don't like the drama only to realize I watched it in 2020. I found out I even watched the Red Flame. My custom lists have positive/negative highlights it's like condensed review cos I don't write reviews anymore: (-) confusing body swap; (-) low budget production: costume, etc; (-) editing; (-) CGI. I initially watched it for Chen Zhe Yuan
