Looks like the grandfather is still alive and in communication with ML. So likely staged but doesn’t change the fact the plot is beyond ridiculous and frustrating. Fast forward through all episodes so far.

Someone had previously posted mid way through drama that:
* Jin An will lose his memory once Jade linglong is removed but as Prince Anan he will fall in love with her again which proves his love was not due to the Jade
* empress kidnap FL. ML and FL’s father fight together against Empress where the father dies (not because of ML)
* FL leaves ML and once return to her kingdom fakes her death
* ML thought FL died and goes crazy, takes back Jade to get revenge. This is when drama follows the last few
chapters of novel , and if so it will be a happy ending.

Based on previews and snippets it looks like whomever posted this ending was correct.

Novel is pretty short and is mostly focused on ML with amnesia it’s not until the last couple of chapters that he regains his memory of both before and after he lost his memory. He distance himself from FL and plans to return to his kingdom but never treats her badly and is thankful to her. However when he is leaving he hears news that she had died and that’s when he realised that his love for FL is true and not because of a blood bond / gu. He returns seeking revenge but finds out she faked her death and his identity is exposed . In the novel he killed 2 of his generals so he would not be able to return to his kingdom which he didn’t want to anyway. Happy ending with both of them travelling, FL no longer a general and ML no longer a prince. So anything can happen in the drama once ML regains his memory especially since the drama has FL kill his general at episode 10 which will allow ML to return to his kingdom without serious consequences.

Wow this is unexpectedly so good for a mini drama! Given the short episodes the editing and pace is very well done. Up to episode 13 and the romantic lantern scene is the best I’ve seen. Love a smart, badass FL and the ML has the cutest smile.

I enjoyed the drama for what it was but have to say the novel was much better and highly recommend now that drama has ended. There are a lot of chapters but each chapter is relatively short. The characters are much more developed and plot is tight. You know why the ML was in love with FL early on something that was not explained in the drama. FL is decisive and shows no mercy to those who wronged her. Aman (who knows martial arts) and ErNu are awesome. ML is absolutely shameless and ruthless to anyone who mistreats / bully FL. For example, when the lady falsely accused FL cosmetics as defective, ML threw a pebble at her mouth to shut her up, causing her teeth to fall out 🤣 His only goal in life is to love and protect FL but knows she is capable and admires FL’s plotting and machinations. Both are smart, always one step ahead and in sync with each other. Novel was still entertaining even when they were officially a couple at mid point of the novel. The emperor was clever, fair and compassionate unlike in the drama, which did him dirty. He was hilarious, favoured the ML and had a secret passion for
romance novels. The villains got what they
deserved, no stupid redemption.

Emperor dumb and useless till the end. Princess Rong yang tells emperor she will be regent yet emperor thinks it’s not her that wants to rebel but the marquise. 🤦‍♀️Princes R died too easily, emperor covering up her treason 🤦‍♀️ appreciate most of episode 40 spent giving everyone a happy ending , instead of unnecessary last minute killing spree of favourite characters like many c dramas .

I cannot wait till the arc of evil princess Mingyue wanting to marry Yu Qi end! So repetitive! Still not resolved according to teaser for episode 32 where Emperor enforcing a marriage between them with FL and Princess as equal wives😬 I’m enjoying the drama but this obsession is dragging, it’s frustrating. Looks like I will keep having to use the FF button for these scenes. There is so much good material in the novel yet script writers focus on this. Is this what they think audience enjoy? They better make the princess and mother suffer a terrible death after the torture they put us through.

In the novel ML recognises FL as girl from childhood in second timeline. Don’t know if this will be shown in drama but would be silly if they don’t given ML immediate crush on FL. Also when he saved her from drowning his response to his subordinate question was “I want her to recognise me” implies there is a connection.

If drama follows novel then they have a childhood connection where ML recognise FL as the girl that saved him. So he already has a crush on FL since then. Flaw in drama in not showing why ML suddenly in love with FL . Left viewers wondering how 🤔

She is in prison once her identity is revealed for supposedly killing her father. Not identity theft.
