On episode 4 now. My thoughts on Toh still haven't changed, tbh it just keeps on getting worse. (spoiler ahead…
"It's like Toh is in a world of his own and doesn't register the reality happening around him." Yeah, that's the point! He already said he's just the "side character" supposed to be in the shadows. He doesn't believe he can be loved back, specially by someone like Nuea. He doesn't think he's good enough.

Well at the end of the day it's a matter of taste. But this is a camp over the top comedy, so if you are watching it as anything other than that you might not get that all the crazy is intended to be just like that and not to be taken seriously. What I like about the show is that they mix (in my opinion of course) the comedy with heartfelt moments and also many important social issues.

the biggest plothole of this show is why aren't the cops looking into who assaulted Black. If someone is unconscious…
You have to much faith in the police!! Contrary to what copaganda movies and tv shows tell us the police mostly doesn't care about people at all and don't go looking even for missing people let alone follow crimes like the one Black was a victim of.

Title Not Me
I live for the fact this drama doesn't have a "gay romance" subgenre. bc outside of there being multiple couples…
But this is indeed a BL, which makes sense because as with any genre it's not stuck in time but changes and evolves.

Embarrassing...for whom? and how?
Yeah, you are just a xenophobic and racist little shit lol that's why we shouldn't interact or give a chance to people like you. And yes, you are a entitled american like so many of your fellow citizens and that's why people react like they did in this comment "oh, just saw you're american, never mind, that explains everything". The truth is your little entitled self must watch content made by developing countries and they won't cater to your racist xenophobic tastes of what they should be and there's nothing you can do besides ranting on this site. You project a lot of your feelings of shame about your country onto other people and also seems to relate to the world based on again, racist and xenopohobic cliches of it (seems you eat up american media more than you let on since your view of Brazil comes largely from it lol)
But rant on my friend while we enjoy BLs and you wait for that one that perfect one that will never come.
Cheers and bye!

I'm Brazilian, I have no shame in saying it....but at least we don't act like other countries own us anything. That's the only problem. If you like or dislike a piece of media, that's up to you, a matter of taste. But your comments sound not only entitled but also xenophobic, now maybe you don't even realize that, but it's what you are doing in the way you are talking about Thailand. That's also the reason all the other comments came strong for you. Now, I do not accept crumbs that's why I've gone beyond what western media gives queer people. You are right that people think the US is a paradise for gay people and it's far from the truth, the same about Thailand but maybe if you took the time to understand history and the context of the country you would also understand better why the end of Love of Siam is not crap for the time and place it was made. One of the benefits of watching media from all over the world is the opportunity to have our views of the world challenged, learn how people live, think and act differently than what we thought was the only possible way.

Supposedly uniforms help to "not bring up class/income difference" but this is not what happens at all. Believe…
Sometimes it's hard to get these thing when we don't have the context! I think a lot of the issues discussed in The Eclipse are direct references to the social and political moment in Thailand even though I think people around the world can also connect with them.
Now, about schools (like we have today) looking more like a prison it's interesting that they both follow the same model and where created at the same time. There's this book called Punishment and Discipline (Michel Foucault) that goes in depth about how our modern society is built around systems of control and discipline with the school system being one of the main contributors for creating these "docile bodies" (think the music video for Pink Floyd's The Wall). So you are spot on and I think this association between school and prison is made intentionally by the show. There's this K-drama called Sound of Magic (netflix) that also takes on this issue and it's pretty good too.

LOL I never said your opinion only matter in relation to where you were born but that as an American there's so much more to feel embarrassed in regards to queer media before you can tell Thai people doing BL they should be embarrassed. Also I'm not generalizing, thankfully not all Americans are like that but you are such a cliche, it's peak American entitlement behavior.
Now, you just said America is a socialist country since the 30s so I won't engage anymore. Hope you can find BLs to your taste or better yet since you are so passionate about the issue demand for more mainstream queer media to be made in America.

American movies from the 2000s to be fair. Hollywood wasn't giving gays happy endings that soon, Brokeback Mountain was just some couple years before Love of Siam.

"Simply tell about some gay young men dealing with being gay in an unaccepting Society." lol that definitely sounds very original and never made before!!! I think it's far more embarrassing for an American and America that they don't even have a genre of queer media the size of Asian BL to talk about. So their citizens have to come acting like their entitled selves demanding to be catered for. Also it's kind of funny how you want stories about gay young men living in an unaccepting society but you hate Love of Siam....lol

Oh sure, the logic is there but the reality is different, so that's why their protest makes sense. At least to me it does, maybe it depends from each person experience but I know in Thailand this uniform issue is a pretty hot topic since trans/nonbinary people are legally mandated to wear the uniforms (which include hair and other presentations) of their assigned at birth gender even when they have transitioned.

Supposedly uniforms help to "not bring up class/income difference" but this is not what happens at all. Believe me even wearing the same thing it's completely clear to everyone who is poor, who is rich and those who are struggling even more than the poor ones. In the end uniforms only serve to make people to comply with social expectations and breed conformity.

Oh I agree with you, In fact I think a lot of people don't appreciate how hard it is to portray a character like Toh for example. I think they all did a great job as actors in SCOY.

Oh I think it gets better with each episode so if you got over the first two episodes I think you are good to go hehe I think Toh is a very interesting character, the more we get to know him the better we can understand why he acts like that.

Well, liking it or not I'm sure that SCOY won't make you bored lol I think the show is pretty good, fun and also with many heartwarming moments. You just have to know going in that it's an over the top camp comedy, every cringe and absurd moment is intentional and intended to be seen that way.

Look at the end of the day a lot of what you said just boils down to personal taste. I'm not even following Love in the Air yet but in my opinion KinnPorsche is very overrated to be honest. Look, I really enjoyed watching it but after episodes 9/10 it just went all to hell lol Now I do think the actors did a pretty good job and their intimate scenes where good but from what I've seem Boss and Noeul were also amazing. And isn't this great? Media is not a zero-sum game and the more the better specially because in this case everyone can find something they like to watch!

LOL I really don't mind the "cringe" (when it's done on purpose like in SCOY) but I did have to skip one scene in the beggining when Toh puts the tissue paper in his mouth when Nuea is in his house choosing the photos. Now that I couldn't take haha

the ending is so bad that I think 8.0 is fair enough
Really? Why? Genuine question? Because to me the ending made perfect sense with the whole narrative journey and it was quite obvious it was going to end like that many episodes before the ending itself.
