I think in the earlier episodes YY knew about YD taking out her original form to make the dream about the lotus pond but he was not sure about YD cutting out her heart to save him.
This is because when YY woke up Zhixi was injured so was YD but everyone in the heavens pointed out that Zhixi dug out her heart plus things escalated with YD being thrown into prison subsequently jumping of the bridge and YY going into a coma for over 800 years. He did not investigate thoroughly about the events that occurred while at the hut and was sent to the mortal realm to go through trials.

Am assuming that Lu Ming told YY about 'his friend' who suffered a great some what injustice thus Lu Ming planted the evidence in the pond for YY to find when he returned from his trials.
