This is the best costume drama ZLH got so far, in terms of script, cast, crew, post-production … I’m still waiting for his next promising one which can compare to it 🥹

Happy 1 year anniversary! I still remember those difficulties this drama got through before it really aired successfully on 2023. 11. 7. It should aired in May, but so many things happened, rumors flew everywhere.

For many novel readers, they were so happy to see the filming reuters made the characters walking from the book, and the couple's chemistry in the variety show. Thanks to the actors, crew and production company, didn't ruin the novel, everything in this drama is great! (regardless some plots changed to pass the censorship). It's always enjoyable to rewatch such a masterpiece.

It's also the best role ZLH got so far. The complex layers of the role gives him the space to show his actings. And he adds more charms and deep understandings to Xie Wei, compared to the novel. It's so lucky for ZLH and XW to meet each other at the most suitable time.

For Bai Lu, personally I think it's the role most suits her so far. She is Jiang Xue Ning, Jiang Xue Ning is her. I can't think of other actresses who could replace her in this role.

Overall, looking forward to the leads to bring more good-quality dramas next year. ZLH drama: The Best Thing, Our Generation. Bai Lu: Lament of the River Immortal, Moonlight Mystique.

Hi, thank you for the recommendation of kdramas. Those two are on my watchlist too! Joy of Life is a male centric drama, so I would recommend you drop it if it's not your taste. It's long and slow paced comparing to kdramas. And the political intrigues and humor are hidden behind the dialogues, so I would not recommend it to cdrama beginners.

Since you just moved from kdrama to cdrama, I would recommend you to start from fast paced cdramas first, like Story of Kunning Palace, The Double, New Life Begins, The Blood of Youth, My Journey to You. Their episodes are within 40 episodes. Most dramas before 2020 are around 50-70 eps.
