Even though he’s not the main lead, it’s another performance where Jang Seung Jo impresses. He’s a good, versatile actor. Would love to see him as a lead actor more often.
I commented a few months ago that I hoped Yoon Park wasn’t a third wheel in a love triangle and rather had his own love interest. I hope that’s still true even though it’s confirmed he’s playing PMY’s ex bf in the drama.
Just caught up with the drama. It isn’t perfect but it’s very enjoyable. The music and production values are great, the cast is good and the story is intriguing. Lee Jin Wook is well cast as the stoic and brooding hero, which allows Lee Joon to steal the show with his charismatic and cool villain.
Gong Seung Yeon has largely been in the background so far but she makes quite the impression and I’m curious where they go with her character. Nara is fine as the female lead, her character is not written that well but I think she’s done a decent job with what they’ve written for her. Her chemistry with the ML is decent. I think SFL and ML have barely interacted but they have better chemistry. Only complaint I have with the show is the writing and how some characters reach a conclusion.
Okay I just started this and it’s great. I’m only bummed that Lee Joon Hyuk is just a guest star and not like the second male lead. He’s so great in this small part, would love to see him in his own drama like this cause he can definitely play lead roles.
Jang Ki Yong is pretty hit or miss when with comes to choosing projects as a romance lead. Both this and Born Again were underwhelming. I guess My Roommate is a Gumiho was decent. He should do something again like My Mister or Kill It where he is a bit more of a darker, bad guy. He should not do a romance melodrama for a while cause it’s not his forte.
None per se but I thought the chemistry between the younger male lead and Tae Joo as well as Soo Yeon was great. Wasn’t really romance but more sexual tension though some may disagree with me.
I have no idea how they wrote that ending thinking that people will like or appreciate it. It is so needlessly bleak. Not even super dark shows like Save Me, The Guest or Hometown go that route. This drama went that far just for shock value and it seriously damaged what was an otherwise good drama. The cast was great and I loved the chemistry of the two leads. I have no idea how the studio let the writer get away with this ending.
This drama reminds of Her Private Life in that I was a bit bored after the main leads started dating. Enjoyed the first half more than the second half. I’m definitely in the minority though.
It took me a few months to finish this but I’m glad I completed it. It’s honestly better if you don’t binge this because it’s purposefully slow. Loved the ML here. He was the standout. I do think overall though, the second leads should have actually been the main couple because their dynamic was more interesting to me but that’s just my opinion.
Worth watching if you want a chill and laid back drama about characters just living life with their own personal sometimes mundane struggles. I think the MDL rating is accurate. Solid 8.5/10; better than a typical romcom.
I hope we get more Kdrama’s like this that can have romance in the action/thriller genre. The romance progresses naturally and adds to the overall story in a meaningful way.
Another good one like this was the drama “Train” but that romance was even more subtle.
A romance melodrama set in this time period makes me think this will be pretty sad/tragic in terms of the ending. This is a contentious time in recent Korean History so I’ll be curious how it ends.
With this drama ending this week, I gotta say maybe I had too many expectations. This isn’t a bad drama at all, but not the one I was expecting and hoping it would be. The whole killer story is so draggy, it frustrates me.
