My thoughts too on what the original viewers back 2007 thought when it first released. Cold ML stereotype seem to be a rage in those parts then and even now...but ML didnt have enough screen time for us to fall in love with his character..where as SML has so.much screen time to steal our hearts with his goofy grin and act 😂😂

Ep3: one moment the wei family is brimming with happiness and florishing, and next moment most of them dead ,, feel really really sad - esp when one of the sons sacrifices himself to protect the father , and another to protect the youngest - but still that was not enough to save anyone , all dead except the youngest , ... to think your family's most innovative invention to be treacherously stolen and handed to enemies to be used to kill your entire family -.General wei and his family must have posed serious risk to someone's plans that they had to be killed in such a dastardly manner . such low level creatures... hope wei yun survives the incernment and fights for justice for his family
Ep3: Poor Emperor , he not only got a useless son(crown prince) , but also his most trusted and loyal generals killed treacherously. He wanted to know the truth .he cant be blamed for not investigating , but he is surrounded with such deep treachery that the truth of how he is left without a brave and loyal general surviving will not be known to him - but 2 strong military families falling within a year should have raised his suspicions .. Unless the emperor stands up and protects the remaining generals ,he and his country are totally lost, and the throne will land in Duke's lap.
the crownprince - even if he is totally lost , can he not understand atleast that ensuring death of such loyal generals and such huge army will eventually lead to his own and his family's death and ensure enemies , enemy countries win. what kind duffer is this crown prince
Why the rating so low? This is one of tge well executed , well scripted , well acted series.. everyone is so good looking and have acted so well - main leads , villians , minor characters . .. you feel bad even for villians love story.. 🤦♀️... Fl is so beautiful , and such a wonderful actress . She should be given good opportunities in mainstream series.. and FL has jeremy tsui vibes.. he brings in the intensity that jeremy tsui projects.. really enjoyed watching him though he doesnt have much screen time

watching the drama for the 2nd time. hated the FL when i watched it first time. (this was my 1st karlina zhang series ! -) , its only after watching shinging for one thing, i could tolerate her more now yes, i thought she was bland in her delivery- also, it seemed to me ML was doing everything - and she didnt do anything from her side for him- he works in a senior position (at same age as her), high stress job too, manages some fragile egos at office, trying to achieve some impossible profits for his new group, takes care of his mother, manages his inlaws , takes cares of FL's needs and COOKS FOR HER TOO, what does she do other than work her job, NOTHING. but pokes her nose into his style of management at office. he is obviously successful for a reason (doesnt come across as particularly mean, he is very considerate person too) - if he acts a certain way there must be a reason . she gets insecure for no reason , criticises his working style like someone who understands leadership skills and gives him cold vibes.. ML must love her excessively to tolerate all her antics...with all the advantages he had, he wanted to be with her. and that little brain of hers doesnt fathom this, doesnt even attempt to bring more to the relationship.
dont know if it is the FL style of delivery or the the way the role is written , it does annoy the viewer a lot. nevetheless i like the drama , mainly for Miles Wei. this drama had a huge potential, they could have written FL better, or should have taken a FL who could bring atleast a better chemistry with ML. 2nd time round, i could tolerate FL better because i loved shining for one thing, and she didnt annoy me there much!!

what an idiotic FL's father is - grannie tries to tell her in many ways to let main wife take charge of house , he pretends not to understand, she gives up- tries another way, to take responsibility for FL, and asks to keep her by her side , still he doesnt give in - wants his fav concubines daughter to be cared by then- smart grannie knows what will make him care and give in- his own official position - and smartly hints unless FL is under her care , there are chances of him being blamed for death of minglans mom... idiot only responds when his own position is in peril
Ep4: it seems FL's mother is from a good family, well read . sad to see she was sold off so that her family of 8 gets to survive. someone like that had to lead a pitiable life is really sad. she is mature and smarter than main wife and husband. just her own lack of courage and cunningness caused her death.
Hmm why didnt ML question FL and her family how they knew his past and secrets...isnt that obvious question, since knowing that information would put his life in danger .and their earlier excuse was FL is his fiancee ...and knowing his past by them is reasonable excuse ...but they confessed they arent related to him by betrothal..so..why isnt ML questioning.. is this oversight by writers ? Or something else??

they may have lost the plot , see he was willing to believe anything in the past, as he loved her and her family, they could have come clean fully - timetravel, and need to befriend him(his house is portal to travel back!) - and why she cannot be with him (ancestor) -- now the sequence is all wrong- she told him she lied about their engagement. he knows they are capable of lying - and now if they talk of time travel and being his descendents , will he believe ???? there is a sequence to explaining - which changed with her confession. he will only look at them as liars.

FL is not lacking courage, its their supposed connection , ancient-descendent , that is stopping her.. am sure the moment that part is cleared , she would rush to confess.. she is modern girl after all, not lady from that era who needs to follow proper female etiquettes
