Plot no matter what. I like romance, but only when it's done well. I this case, I think their chemistry works really well whether as workplace gangster allies/friends/lovers. Plot first, however. The problem with a lot of romance is that they tend to think romance drama becomes the plot, but it just becomes drama. So most importantly, romance shouldn't affect the plot. In this case, it hasn't. (I like the Babel plot a lot, but I don't think the villains are putting in all their brains together rn)

I highly recommend The Legend of the Condor Heroes (1983) to anyone who's interested in wuxia. It's the quintessential…
Agreed, I started with that one too.

8 and 16, haha. Multiples of 4? I got hooked on 4, first favourite ending was 8, and then 16, (12 was eh though), and now we have 20 up (which means it depends on a good ending).

I definitely agree with you! Vincenzo tries to make out as a dark comedy but, in my opinion, it's difficult to…
I've heard that ratings are really important in Korea. Either way, like you said, for the genres of tv in Korea they like to do often, they do it very well. For the step into a darker theme, I think Vincenzo has been pretty successful. Of course, it could be better, but I'd say it's been an enjoyable ride overall. I would be lying if I said that I hoped there wouldn't be romance at first, but Jeon Yeo Been's character grew on me and I think that their work/friendship/mutual understanding is a very good basis for their relationship as well as good chemistry (plus it's not full center-I think the main point is that it doesn't take away from the plot). I haven't watched that many K-Dramas yet so I can't comment on the 'crooked perspective on life' thing, but I think her character developed well when her quirky self was mexplained more. I understand your opinion on the chef. When Vincenzo enjoyed his cooking, I thought that was cute, too. But I think his facial expressions of nervousness towards Vincenzo are sometimes too overexaggerated. However, the Geumga Cast has become more endearing.

I understand what you mean. Vincenzo was also supposed to be my after-effects drama, but then I actually got hooked on it. It took me four episodes to get in, and I see why you mean it took you 8 episodes to love it- I think the eighth episode's ending is one of the best of this series.

I was still shaking from the intensity of it all well after the show ended. It was that impactful
Same, I think it was even better because the fear and expecting it will happen due to the cliche set up, and being proven wrong, was very satisfying. I think it was the most impactful moment of the entire show.

by chance, I'm the only one who doesn't care about the villain??? he doesn't find him interesting because of taecyeon's…
If the brother's character goes bad that's a really interesting turn. Agree that the villain is not being made use of as well as he could be. Hopefully, he one-ups Vincenzo soon as that shows his power.
The cool moments are made of unexpectedness and a turn after bad things happen, so I think that since most feel that they won't be able to harm Vincenzo much, revenge won't be so sweet. It's always the unknown that keeps people waiting.

Just finished the 16th episode. And damnnn.I have chills. Woww. My brain can't process this.Choi Myunghee better…
I think she has to live until 20 since she's the actual brain behind the operation and Jang Jun-Woo is the face.
Wow, you saved it up for today to watch it! Impressed at your self-control.
Like your username, btw-caught me off guard for a second.

By the way, why did you all start watching Vincenzo?
For me, there were two reasons:
1. It was Number 1 on Netflix for ages, and SJK's poster (also Vincenzo's thumbnail) starie kept unnerving me when I scrolled past him so I said, heck, don't blame me if it's bad
2. I actually was already looking for some cool people in suits doing action. I watched a bit of a similar genre'd-K-Drama on Netflix, but the romance elements were not done well and actually off-put the plot, so as Vincenzo didn't start out with romance, I was more inclined to continue it.
3. Not only was the poster unnerving, but I always saw SJK as one of the most liked K-Actors on posts, so I was wondering how it was to see him act.

*By the way, the other name listed for this show is Binsenjo. I've picked up that there's no 'zih' Z in Korean, so does that mean there isn't a pronunciation for 'V' either? Or are B and V the same?

Hope I'm not replying too much-waiting for this next episode has been a century.

He ordered it? I thought the show only mentioned they were killed and that he knew about the gold, but not that…
Ah, I did forget about that quote!
Well, there is a lot of comedy, sometimes overturning the dark parts, so it's easy to see both. It depends on the audience. Is his character redeemable overall? For his type of set-up, I expect a dark ending. However, from the way the other plot elements work, I expect a 'cool' moment and then an unrealistic, comedic ending to round off what will probably be a very dramatic and dark moment in the last episode.
Previously, I predicted that he would sail away on Bye Bye Balloon, because that kind of rounds off both comedy and explains all the Bye Bye Ballon gang set up.

Glad to see you agree. I agree, dark comedy is hard to pull off and I definitely haven't seen many works of this kind. I think it leaves you with a bitter laugh and an uneasiness when you watch dark comedy. Perhaps the writer did think that-to me, I also cannot see these two elements together, especially within a short distance of time. Like you said with the Geumga cast, this completely threw me off in the first episode after 15 minutes of Italy and boom, boom, fire, pow~
It was a k-drama, and almost all k-dramas I have watched have this type of comedy to it. It fits well with romance, slice-of-life, and office spaces alright. I did not like the comedy elements in the first few episodes, because I felt that even though I know comedy balances out gore, and comedy gives people a break, but here instead of being a plot-how do I say it-rest? Plot rest? It's dissolves Vincenzo's character elements. I only started going along with the flow, even appreciating some of it, with the clapping at the opera and when the Geumga had some interesting backstory. Still, there are many scenes I find unnecessary. Though I have come to appreciate An Gi-Seok and definitely their third-in-command (forgot his name), I still don't exactly like the pseudo-Italian chef. (Also, personal opinion, but sometimes the comedy felt forced so I couldn't clap it back in with the scene). Anyways, it's not that much of an eyesore to me now and I think it's gotten better. Plus, I do know K-Dramas have their own stylistic choices, and I accepted it when I realized Vincenzo didn't really take itself that seriously either.
Casual Action works. I'd still put revenge in there though.
(Btw, At first, seeing he was there for gold, I thought it was going to become a comedic heist movie haha)
But I still believe the golden moments and non-comedic parts displaces my complaints. Though I do think sometimes the Geumga cast is a nbit over-the-top and unrealistic, I do really appreciate Hong-Cha-Young now (I think she was written a lot better after her tragedic loss)

I understand what you mean. IO wouldn't say disappointed, but instead I think it's better left unsaid as creating…
I can see your point. To me, it's better for him to be left as a villain, and be explained by the audiences themselves. In a way, it removes the mysterious element from him. So I did ask this question to the thread a few days ago, and what the answers we used to round the corners was:
We know he likes to do things for fun- therefore, he could also be amusing himself by 'liking' Cha-Young.
*Still, in one scene his crew took a photo of the prosecutor in talks with Vincenzo and Cha-Young, and he zoomed-in on Cha-Young and sighed. (There was an intentional camera-focus, too)
That's the only explanation I can think of. Some people have pointed out he is doing it as a cover. However, no one suspects him and the only person who picks up his closeness with Cha-Young is Vincenzo- (plus he keeps this act up before Vincenzo comes into the picture).
I know this plotline was to throw off suspicion from the audience towards him, which gives it a much bigger 'ohhh' factor. Still-just barely can it get through to me.
(That's why I thought it makes sense if they call him a sociopath)
Another point given was that he probably is less harsh on her because of Cha-Young's parenthood backstory similarities with his-(father). I didn't think he would go so far to save her because of this though.
However, one thing that makes it more believable was when he tried to burn up Geumga plaza a couple? episodes ago. Cha-Young was in there too, and he didn't think of saving her. I think this shows that since the blood-pouring event, he has completely given up on any sort of kindness between them.
What do you think?

I really, really hope Lee Man Ho doesn't stick around for long-I'm super on my toes right now, the way he laughs and replies in his tone of voice makes me feel so unnerved.
I like how it's going but I agree with the time skip parts. I'm not annoyed about any of the characters - I get that some of it is to lead the audience in thinking what's happening and they're just students, eh.
Sometimes, Joon-Hwi's stares the camera focuses on and his facial expressions bring me out of what's happening- I feel like I still can't understand exactly what his attitude is supposed to be and I think it's a bit over sometimes.
Moveeeee out of that district.
(Also, is it based on a real event? I remember that the Korean news was talking about the release of such a criminal only JUST a few months ago, down to the crime and reactions of people and house prices dropping. That also means this script wasn't written too long ago, then)

Vincenzo’s genre on google is dark comedy. I think it can be dark, and has a lot of comedy-but the two don’t mix- I’m pretty sure the comedy is just normal kdrama type comedy, far from being dark, and that there’s a lot more comedy than the grittier parts, though of course that’s what we wait for. What’s Vincenzo’s main genre? Revenge?

Choi Myung Hee, Choi Myung Hee next season the tile will be changed to Choi Myung Hee,P.S Ppl need to stop acting…
He ordered it? I thought the show only mentioned they were killed and that he knew about the gold, but not that he ordered it.
I’m pretty sure no one believes he’s an angel, though-they had this shot of a teddy bear in a blood stained car when he killed people in Italy (his mission montages) insinuating he had killed children before.

I'm just happy it's four days now because it was horrible a while back when it said 11.
In the break time, I think I fared better than some in the comments as I watched an entire show and scattered episodes to fend off my impatience.
Actually, it's a good tactic.

I understand what you mean. IO wouldn't say disappointed, but instead I think it's better left unsaid as creating an explanation actually sometimes loosens the hold over the bundle. I can see what you mean by development-but he serves as a charismatic and horrific villain. I also agree that he seems more a sociopath, but there are some arguments for the other and if you want to hear them, you know, anytime.
