I think in reality it was quite common Joseon women (noble girls) were married off to sickly men. Those men's…
If we talk about real Joseon, than marriages among nobles were done because of status for female leads, and for males, having an heir and also status (like marrying a minister's daughter or someone other from court) If a noble woman was sent to a sickly fellow noble man, it meant that something is wrong on some side. Either the female was a very lowclass noble, or the sickly noble man had a fortune. Noble Joseon women were not married off to sickly men as if it was a norm :)
I'm so curious how their story will develop considering their social class difference. I can see the FL helping…
I felt the romance since EP1 and EP2 was very romantic in my eyes hahaha. The way they thought about each other and how the officer just keeps her belongings :)
Yeah, I also feel that it will happen that way.
Female lead will probably move away and have new identity, but how will that happen is what's making me so curious. What about her in-laws? She can't just...leave!
I hope there's no noona romance tho? are there signs?
we don't really know if it's really a noona romance, since no age has been mentioned, plus the female lead may be a widow for 15 years, but she was married at like 15...

Such relationships were not unheard of in Joseon, but had strict rules. Nobles couldn't marry a commoner, nor a slave, but they could have sexual relations with them or take them as lower class concubines, and have children even, but the children were considered as illegimitate and did not have any yangban (higher class) rights. In other words, a child born to a slave, would remain slave as their mother.
Since this drama is set in a fictional Joseon, keeping only hierarchy and class system, it is very hard to tell what will the drama show. For now, they seem to be strictly following real Confucian rules, which makes me think if there even will be a reform. Remember, even the main couple has an issue - The Gabo reform happened at around 1894, but since here we have fictional king and it is not 1890's it is hard to tell, if the drama will have some new reform for widows remarriage.
Hmm, so this drama has a fictional king which makes me think if they will show Gabo Reform and allow widows to remarry.
If they won't include it, I hope they will show other reform for widows, otherwise there is no way this drama will have happy ending in terms of romance.
Honestly, I wouldn't blame anyone for being anti-Japanese because the horrors commited by some Japanese individuals from historical point of view happened only few years ago. I am not Korean myself, but I feel sensitive talking about the topic and once I visited the real locations of the horrific acts, I couldn't help, but cry.
For full on historical dramas you can check out Cdramas, there are very good ones out there
I am embarrassed to say this, but not really? I made article about it, years ago, but usually Cdramas are confusing and have bad CGI. The only director/scriptwriter which I respect and have watched all his work is Edward Guo. He recently made drama called ''My journey to you'' and that is like my TOP historical Cdrama. I did try other dramas, but I had to force myself to finish them, because of the things I mentioned above....

Leads are already curious about each other just from the two first episodes.

She has his fan and he has her shoe!
Imagine having somewhat ordinary husband and here comes a sexy model looking snakeu. Was that the first historical divorce LOL
It is topping MBC's charts so no, it is not accurate.
They married veeeeeeeeeery young back then...
