I’m seeing a lot of Korean posts saying it’s mistranslated
This was said hours ago, but people here just won't accept the fact. Literally, no one in S. Korea has issue with the scene and it isn't trending on Naver/X/Insta (which it totally would if it was like everyone is saying) and it isn't because Koreans are ignorant on this matter, but because it was clear as day that the news statement branded Ismael as the bad country. Y'all rather believe ChatGP than real speaking Korean people at this point, so there is literally no hope.
I swear when I finish my thesis I will upload it here, 'cause y'all don't believe anything, or even than you're gonna say that the uploaded file was AI made LOL. I would actually burst in tears if u said that....I spend too much on it, to be branded as AI!
U literally didn't see the scene or the drama itself, so with 0 information u brand someone a Zionist....What…
I want to see them, actually, because the ones I saw were not Koreans and there were only like....few accounts posting in Korean regarding this. I wasn't on Naver for a while because of work, but when I woke up I didn't see anything on Naver regarding this, and when I asked my friend who literally lives in S. Korea she also said that she hasn't spotted any hate coming from Koreans. What I can see though is, is the backlash from international fans, but even the Instagram is like....quiet. When I am going through Korean comments I don't see anyone mentioning the scene or anything.
I think the reason is simple - just like I said constantly today - in Korean, the whole speech simply doesn't sound bad. It has clear formation and clear meaning. Yes, Korean can be vague, but news are direct and to the point. I deal with truly ''messy'' texts so I can compare it. This is nothing compared to Classics of poetry LOL. I rather translated whole drama correctly, than peak into Classics of poetry.
Romance??!??No romance tag or they just going add later??
Errrr....well....I don't think I would be happy if they changed the history and changed Yi Yung into some romantic man - on the contrary I would be furious, because this man turned the whole Joseon upside down and had so many bloody purges that it is unbelievable.
If this sageuk once again turns into some mushy unrealistic poop, I might faint actually . I get that he was a ''gisaeng orabi'' and incredibly handsome, but still...once a psychopath, always a psychopath ehm...

....I am literally getting my phd degree in Korean history, which means my whole studies were taught in Korean, so no, I am not a native Korean, but I have TOPIK II level 6 in order to even enter my studying programme, so sorry if I sound like I am bragging, but I think I do deserve some credit for my extensive studying and future work as an actual scholar.
BUT if you truly think that only native speakers can answer this problem, there was literal a link posted here where a native speaker explained the speech word by word and even pointed out what word meant what and it is clear that Izmael kidnapped the hostages and P country airstriked as a defense, thus it was clear that Izmael was branded as the bad country (even the map freaking says it behind the news anchor).
I literally commented this hours ago, it is true. The fictional P country attack country I becauae I kidnapped…
NF makes bad subtitles constantly, but ppl dont know this. Yeah, ENG grammar might be fine and the subs might look polished, but oftentimes words are missing or are added when they are not there. Basically, NF isnt doing direct translation, but more of a paraphrasing...
Anyone fluent in Korean here who could confirm if this is true? https://x.com/VenomousLassie/status/1875811439354728520?t=l9wCJcez3fyyfWc7dCmnMg&s=19Basically,…

Give it a go. They didn't understand the subs well.
If I could advice you, nowdays Viki makes quite good subs. I worked for them in the past and had issues with them, but since I left I guess many things changed, since when I compare the subs, Viki subs are usually better :)

Yeah, they change context a lot, or add words that arent there.... It's bad, like the subs might look polished and spotless in terms of English grammar maybe, but if we talk about translation, it is vague and paraphrasing in lot of instances.
Plus, gossiping about it with my friends actually, who are like, ''huh''? :D
The topic isn't trending for this actually, the Insta in terms of Koreans is booming with congratulations because they won an award.

어떤 고려 왕후 아니면 왕을 좋아해요?
오이가 없어.
Peace out....

계속할까, 이년아?
Wait, lemme laugh some more, 'cause damn, this one hit so good.
Honestly, EP1 is very work focused, but with EP2 it picked on the romance part as it shoulddddddd!
