I'm concerned because of the way she acts based on emotions or easily distrusts Yunxi. I hope as the synopsis says she finds joy in Yunxi's family with her prejudices that family is only by blood. She'll see what's it's like to have a family without blood despite her mother loving her as her own.

I can understand why the Ml is hard to read since he gives nothing way.

I mean we saw her acting like this when it came to Chai Jing before why are people surprised?? It's frustrating to watch our leads act this way but it's not out of her character. That's why Yunxi is there for her to fill her weakness. I just love the couples strength.

I'm not sure what's the reason but it looks like heirloom. I hope the drama address it or there's something hidden the ring?

They are tired of the trusts issues on this drama. Some fluffy romance scene could fix 🤣🤣🤣

I noticed it too. I think, it's a family heirloom ring for the Fu's family.

From my perspective, the female lead lacked love, family and protection. She thinks that going home will bring her the family she is seeking. Her obsession started when she heard stuff about how her mother was well known woman in the capital.

Her acting ridiculous at times it because she is afraid of losing her family or picture of family. So selfishly, she does what she wants to give her that picture of family she seeks. She didn't care for anything as long as her mother is alive. At this point, her lacking of warmth of parents makes her do things to protect them. That's her few flaws that Shiyang uses to manipulate her and want her away from her mother so he can use her easily.

It's frustrating to watch. One of her flaws someone can help her. Her flaws and his flaws are compensated on each other

One of her WEAKNESSES can be fulfilled by Yunxi for strength when it comes to being rationale and not act on emotions.

I feel like I'm one of the fews that are enjoying this since we have finally get to see the males leads background story. Each episode we learn something new. Plus the dialogues were written good. They give us insight or inspirations of life if people go through hardships.

This is not the first time since this ratings drops or this happening.

The plot is simple but rather complicated to whom to trust and whom is the enemy. So to expect it to move smoothly its not what I expected. The main plot is her family, becoming a noble lady and solving the Pei Dafu's case to appease the Emperor.

They work together but they don't trust each other. Its complicated really. The other one ruins the others plans. There's few romantic scenes: umbrella scene, accidentally kiss & kite scene... The romance here has its own dynamic due to the fact that the male leads good at hiding his expressions. It's hard to tell if he likes her or not since his calculative. There's tension on some of their scenes in the start.

Which "her whole family " they aren't just evil for the sake of it.

They've shown why they are driven to do what they do. After all, power, reputation and influence are still important in this modern world.

They might be not justified or little things to some people but they are important to this characters.

The concubine doesn't like Hanyan being the lineal daughter. Her daughter is undermined. Official wife holds power and title. I believe Ms. Zhou has been used by Shiyang because of her affection for him. Her envy and jealous makes sense. She knows Shiyang loves Xiwen more than her. Despite him favoring her in some situations.

Shiyang is cruel and calculated because of his grandfather and learned to live on power to be respected. That's why his obsessed with eliminating everyone who knows his secrets to survive.

The grandmother probably knows her son killed her husband but is laying low so, she doesn't join her husband. That's the reason for her being a coward.

I'm not justifying their evil intentions as something good or other characters deserved those evilness from them.

The son and daughter are obsessed and spoilt. One is driven by obsession for Yunxi and the other is like their father depending on title to be respected.

This might sound like a review but it's not really. It's my admiration for the leads characters.

Episode 19 was a shocker for me especially the ending scene.

Each episode has kept me on edge and unpredictable. This is so far my favorite drama of 2025.

I don't care much about the romance - I want my couple to trust each other. I'm glad to see Yunxi bit by bit tell Hanyan some of his secrets. A man of few expression but his actions are what makes me like him. His true to his character. Never show or give himself out away that's why Mr Pei Dafu wanted to use his skills.

Hanyan and Yunxi their characters compliment each other. Places where Hanyan lacks. Yunxi is her support or should I say strength? Where Yunxi almost lost his composure is where Hanyan was his strength.

I understand why in the start Yunxi wasn't fully trusting Hanyan with his secrets concerning Pei Dafu!!

I have a feeling that in Danzhou where the funds might be. It's Hanyan, who knows the location since she knows that place ins and outs.

I loved how he comforted Hanyan when she blamed herself for not, letting her mother's plans pass. He saw her that she was at her lowest but reminded her that she had given her mother some happiness in that short time. Also happy to see character that has self awareness of themselves.

I wish more dramas written characters like this. So realistic. I can understand both sides of the characters and why they do what they do. I don't get mad much since I understand their characters.

Yunxi is one of my favorite male leads so far this year.
Hanyan is my favorite too. I get her character why she does what she does.

People want romance or for him to act out of his character so they can adore him.

there's subtle expressions but I don't understand why people don't see his actions intend show his love more.

Some men are like that. I'm no longer bothered by criticism of the male lead acting. If you've a understanding to his character then him being expressive. That's not something we'll get.

I'm glad, we've a male character that's been the same from the start to until now who hasn't changed since developing feelings for the female lead. That's what some dramas do and people intent to romanticize it. He is on a mission then love will come later when there's peace. No time for romance or else he'll lose focus. There's a lot at stake.

Did we watch the same episode because all this was explained.

1. He entered as a spy his not, evil adopted son. It was explained his reason.

2. What was he suppose to do? If he fails to help him then the emperor will serve him punishment. His powerless when it comes to the emperor. Even if he reported it the Emperor would've dismissed the case since the task Shiyang has is more important. We've never seen the Emperor of this drama do any good. Why get high hopes on him?

The male lead is smart to me... That's why he advised Hanyan not, to act based on her emotions and wait for the right time to strike. To get her revenge unless you want him to act like Hanyan with no plan.

I like his scenes with his daughter and female lead. That's why his talented skills were sought by Mr Pei. He gives nothing away. It makes his job more realistic to him. It matches him.

That's why most of the times he survived its because he gives away nothing. That's what I'm reading into his stoic, firm and cold character. That's why Mr Pei wanted him for his talent. I like that he doesn't show his feelings. You can see his actions are more louder than his words or expressions.

It's not out of her character. Remember when she found out that Cai Jing took blame for her how she was emotional and not thinking straight? When it comes to people she cares about she gets emotional foolish and makes mistakes. This is to highlight how manipulative Shiyang is. He used Hanyan's weakness to ruin the united font they had.

They did say that the description matched of a man in their 40ties but what Hanyan learned is that again Yunxi never told her the additional news after their conversation earlier. That's what makes her act like that. She doesn't trust Yunxi since he isn't disclosing everything to her. That's what doubt does. She knows her father's character but still can't fully trust Yunxi.

I thought the same thing after the episode aired that she was sent there since Yunxi didn't want to marry at that time. They are revealing little bits of Yunxi's story. I'm curious about it. I don't understand why his family were pushing him to marry when he didn't want too.

That's what I understand from their characters too. I think people want the male lead to be expressive which is out of his character as his supposed to be "cold" the director or direction of this approach is, to me more realistic. I can't be having a character be told to be cold character and act all simp towards the female lead suddenly that's out of character. I like that the male lead character hasn't changed after meeting the female lead. Also the female lead hasn't changed too. This is why it's hard for their relationship to progress further more since Yunxi isn't telling her everything and she still has trust issues with the male lead.

I loved today's episode. It was progress between the leads but now we are back to square one 😭

why do I have a feeling that Shiyang is the one behind the death of Pei Dafu? also Yunxi's father? It could be that Pei Dafu prepared that banquet for Yunxi to tell him something about Shiyang. Shiyang is smart minded. He knows how to cover his tracks.

I hope it won't be another case that Pei Dafu was used by Shiyang to accumulated all the wealth and he was innocent!

At this POINT, with all the push and pull between this two. I don't expect a sweet sailing boat romance. When the male lead fully trusts Hanyan that's when we'll see it. As for now, his delulu with accepting his feelings 🤣🤣
