Still rated 10/10 despite being disappointed with the ending, but no drama is really perfect, there will be inevitable…
Wang Xing Yue- ML: Scent of Time (Historical); and First Love(Youth Modern) SML: Story of Kunning Palace (Historical[WXY and Bai Lu reunite here]); Amidst a Snowstorm of Love (Modern). I've watched all of these and he was wonderful. I never watched One and only though, I guess I should add it to my plan to watch list.
This drama is INSANE! The DETAILS omg. Anyone else notice when JL is coming out of the prison, and the duke takes…
The characters are constantly able to smell things. It makes me so happy when they enter a room and sniff it. Their hair and clothes get messed up in different situations and the try to straighten it out. I mean they looked gorgeous in every scene but they got dirty, tired, rumpled, sweaty and smelly. Big cheers to wadrobe department: costume, hair and make-up.
i always get confused with the politics of drama and i have some questions 1. how is eldest princess wanning related…
1. PW is the Emperor's half sister. 2. She was sent as a "hostage" in a marriage alliance. And the Dai Emperor disrespected and abused her 3. Lord Cheng is her full brother(same father and mother) and he wants to usurp the throne since he was overlooked for the position by their father the late Emperor. 4. Cheng was still young and was unwilling to risk his life to save Wang City during a war. He abandoned the city but General Xiao jnr, stayed back with his battalion to defend the city and let the residents flee. Lord Cheng wanted to maintain his reputation and not let it be known he abandoned a city plus he wanted revenge on General Xiao for stopping his first attempt at usurping the throne. So he caused Xiao to die in battle and framed him for disobeying military order to fight a losing battle that led to the death of his battalion for fame and arrogance. 5. He was old and sick and chose a very young Hong to be his successor over the older with military experience Cheng; and was murdered by Princess Wanning who resented him for her sufferings in Dai Country.
I feel like this was more violent and graphic then other C dramas I've seen. Did anyone else notice that?
The source material "Marriage of the Di Daughter" is more violent and graphic than the drama but is the least violent and graphic of the author's works that follow this betrayed by family and murdered by lover rebirth revenge storyline (Rebith of a malicious empress of military lineage, Rebith of an ill-fated consort). Another of the author's work Rebirth of a female star general is being made; that one is more war/battle violence, than backyard violence but the author for sure likes bloodlust in her story.
This was a very good drama and deserves it's ratings and accolades. That said, the last episode is pretty much…
If the "happy ending" add-on had alluded to the final battle at all, it would have seemed more real: Mourn JiJi and say if the backup had come a little earlier.... or show that he was overcoming trauma for being captured alive and then we can guess that he was rescued or traded back. But I think the rider on the white horse is not definitely "fantasy" and is an extremely well done "open to interpretation" scene. Like the end of the movie: Inception.
A transplanted shrub, depending on how big and how fast it grows, takes about one to five years to bloom. In the…
5years of seperation and 3years together= 8years. The director loved his villains too much. He gave SYR so much attention and his death was fleshed out so much, even giving him backstory of father's death, which was absent in the novel, and irrelevant to the drama. That being said I loved the story he told and I respect his choices in the story he wanted to tell because even if there are things I don't like he is responsible for the many things I do like in The Double.
SYR telling XFF to kill XH, then they can live happily ever after is sending me…like the guy has truly lost…
I liked that she asked him " Even if we excused everything else, why did you kill me with your own hands and bury her alive?". And then he was silent. Like my dude, catch a clue
I did not understant Shen Yurong . He is the mastermind behind Wanning. Indeed, they harmed a lot of people. But…
How I see him, SYR is a conman who sometimes goes so deep in his con he can't tell what is real or fake anymore. I feel he attached himself to a young Fang Fei because she was the best girl but also her family was the "richest" most prestigious in the county. He probably expected a lot more dowry from her but when that didn't come (because her father had already gave away almost all they had in his benevolence), he quietly manipulates her to sell off her belongings to fund his house and education whilst they are in the capital. He targets spoilt Princess Wanning who everyone else is avoiding and has never experienced "courtship" to climb up in his carrier and becomes the brains in her camp and her obsession. At this time, he is used to/in love with HIS possession Xue Fang Fei but to move up and make Wanning feel his devotion and pity him for his loss, gives her up and manipulates PW to kill off the Xues and gain the gold mine. I believe he did this but he might have hesitated on Fang fei because she belongs to him. However, he doesn't give up the chance to "save her" from captivity and tell her he is being pressured and none of it is his fault or doing and still kills her with his own hands. I believe he has to do this so his performance of victim in front of Wanning would be impeccable. You can see him put on a show for Jiang Li at his dinner party, trying to manipulate her to turn on Wanning and spare him any responsibility; now that she is in an uplifted position in society. When the manipulation fails he moves on to sexual violence. If he had succeeded, she would be forced to marry him or kill herself. He performs a similar drama for Wanning to the same aim and she bends over backwards to save him from prison after he attempted to cheat on her and she uses precious pawns to get him back the wife, he had made her believe she was the one that wanted her dead. And it was never really love with XFF, because he only suddenly had to have her back once he saw her going to Duke Su. He did the same thing with Wanning; warning her that Li first son couldn't love her like he does. Then in the next breath he starts freaking out that Wanning doesn't want to let him go. Like he said "He no longer knows the words that come out of his mouth, which ones are true and which ones are false"
What is interesting about the balcony scene; In the screenplay it's love at first sight for Duke Su and then he finds out she's married, so he lets it go; that is why he is giving SYR the evil eye during the funeral procession, knowing he killed her and why he immediately starts flirting with her when he meets her at Zhenny Hall. Then compare that balcony scene with the balcony scene in the finale. Shen Yu Rong who described Duke Su as cruel and arrogant, being cruel and arrogant because he had the fish talisman
You know, the more I think about it.....While I understand that the Emperor had to see the bigger picture.....he…
I doubt he thinks a woman able to survive in the palace is an innocent dove and he didn't care about Jiang Li's life or death outside of how it affected Xiao Heng. P.S. JL herself was able to move on from the incident, why would he care? The country was facing internal and external threats, as long as she wasn't becoming "rampant" he probably wouldn't bat an eye.
