He just doesn't seem that Machiavellian, just cowardly... but it would have been a great twist if they hadn't…
I was thinking the exact same thing about XFF. He has a talent for taking down the "best" bachelorette. The princess biting more than she can chew with him.
I'm on ep 18. how did the old neighbours not recognise A'Li?
I think it's more like everyone in the town are permanently pretending to be blind to avoid troubles from the magistrate's many criminal activities. The probably try very hard not to see anything
He just doesn't seem that Machiavellian, just cowardly... but it would have been a great twist if they hadn't…
I'm thinking the princess "discovered" him as she plotted for the mine and Xue family elimination. She was just enjoying corrupting the "upright scholar" with temptation of power and s*x but now she is falling into her own honey trap. In the novel we meet this couple when the pricess is needy and clingy and SYR has the upper hand in the relationship. I love the decision to let us see the relationship power shift- makes a more enjoyable watch
Can someone spoil me from the novel, what's gonna happen in next few episodes? I suppose Ye family will save the…
There's no famine disaster in the novel. They leave Hauxiang and are protected by the Duke's guards [the author doesn't write about the journey]; drama picks up when they reach the capital. So this is new territory for novel readers too
Hate him. Yes the enemies they had were very big but to ruin her rep and murder her!!!!?! For a wife that abandoned…
The actor, the script... the decision to make him so complicated is really a great touch. In the novel he is a 1 dimensional self centered husband 😅 maybe knowing that makes it easy for me to simply hate him
Sheng Yurong and Jiang Li/XFF's moment got me messed up... I don't know whether to hate him/feel sorry for him...…
Hate him. Yes the enemies they had were very big but to ruin her rep and murder her!!!!?! For a wife that abandoned home, and poured all her dowry and talent to your success, he owed her the truth and a chance to escape. He didn't try to give her and her family a way out because he knew it would risk his resulting good fortune of getting her enemies as his backer. Hate him, he's a villain playing victim.
My guess is that it’s embarrassment and shame for her part if she allows her step daughter, Jiang Li to be taken…
For the title of "The Jiang families eldest Di Daughter". As long a Jiang Li is alive and in society, her daughter and herself would always be usurpers: she would be remembered as former concubine turned main wife. But if Jiang Li died after many years of silence, they would be viewed as legitimate nobility.
Me thinking of watching this while having "A Journey to Love" and "The Legend of Shen Li" on hold.Cdrama for me…
A journey to love is honestly a great watch but the ending can make you feel like you wasted your time and energy but it doesn't truly ruin the experience. Just rewrite the ending in your head and it would be great😅. Shen Li is also good; my one critique is that they remove every unnecessary thing from the story that it almost feels bare. The Double is really enjoyable to watch while its airing- its not ending on cliffhangers-so it's easy to wait for next episode; but its also very engaging and satisfying- so you can keep coming back daily for the enjoyment.
Novel readers…..pls spoil mWhen will jianlis identity reveal to everyone..? Will everyone accept her or not
The book is transmigration plot; so no one can "reveal" her identity. Duke Su noticed she could not be an abandoned to a nunnery untrained daughter of the Jiangs but he could only confirm that she was who she said she was but that she had secrets. In the end she admits her identity and transmigration at the end of this trip/arc to pay up the "debts" she had accrued with his frequent rescues. For the most part it never becomes public knowledge in book. So no idea how the series will handle it.
I cant pinpoint how and when XFF emotions were stirred towards Duke😅and then came jealous scene, was it unknowingly…
The whole scene is quite telling: she sees him in a place she shouldn't be, she doesn't hide but calls out to him, walks to him quickly and starts asking about what he's doing and revealing what she is doing unprovoked. When Wu LAN appears, she suddenly realises this man is not her man and even if he were all men are evil especially the two timers. 😅
So far its still pretty faithful with the novel even with many changed... And i like some changes too. Forward…
The changes to the Princess and SYR really make it interesting for book readers because I wonder if they are collapsing villains and villain arcs. They seem to have also changed how his parents died as well and if consort Li is from the former Emperor's generation could she be replacing the Empress dowager story arc. I'm really satisfied with their handling of the story so far and excited to see what comes next.
I think for the sake of her safety and most peoples happiness that only the maid, Xiao Heng and Xue Li's bio family…
He doesn't seem like the sort of person to really care or feel genuine remorse. You know the saying " You can't wake a person that is pretending to be asleep"- that's her father, you can't say that he honestly believed the little girl pushed the grown woman to her "death" with so many people around and then deserved exile for 10 plus years without ever bothering to visit and then wanted her to travel with Concubine Li after she returned. He would likely feel annoyed that if she wasn't the real JL why did she come to rock the boat
Is it me or was Duke a bit cold in today’s episode after the rain scene? I was expecting him to be a bit more…
He was also annoyed with her messing with him on her own terms. She had gotten mad at him for watching plays and then she said they should watch another play after not acknowledging their rain escapade. So I think he was sulking a little.

Duke Su: I'm her savior
