In the novel, there was an uncle at the border and a half brother in the capital; both of then had political and military strength and opposed the emperor; who was the adopted son of the former Empress (she lost her own son in the crown prince battle and could only rely on the current emperor to remain relevant to become Empress dowager). The palace landscape was more complex in the novel and Wanning's power was from powerful allies and no real responsibilities. In the drama: they seem to be giving Wanning the empress dowager and her mother consort's powers, arcs and madnesses and they might also collapse 3 male villains into King Cheng (So far character is king cheng and location and work is the other villains).

In the novel she is not related to the Jiangs in any way and their paths never cross till transmigration. What they do with the drama is another matter. But if they make Fang fei a Jiang and Aunt Hu her mother it would really ruin the redemption of Jiang li story arc. 😒

1. In the novel, Ji shuran felt like JL overhead her talking about her affair and bastard pregnancy but at the time JL was a child and really didn't hear or understood even if she heard.
2. In the drama, Ji Shuran claims she started coverting the Zhou yanbang marriage for her daughter.
3. The title of eldest di daughter with title of most talented lady is a big deal to these capital officials/scholar wives and daughters
4. She is a FULL psycho; if they use more of the novel reveals, she is even darker than murdering her lover post coitus, aborting her baby and framing a child.

If they stick to the novel: a Jiang concubine and mother of the 1st Jiand daughter

Gonna feel a little bad for the step mother for putting out to her resurrected ex-lover when everything goes to waste. I imagine this plot won't even get 2 episodes

To be honest he's the same. They really brought him to life. The first time he appears, I bursted out laughing because it was exactly how i imagined him and was giddy to see him: the beautiful man in red looking at the world with mocking smile.

Burying alive and burning to death. They really try to give their loved ones the best

If she admits to knowing so much about Fang fei's final moments, it begs the question why she didn't report any of it and also draws her closer to the possibility of a switch and reason why JL's maid who couldn't protect her mistress would lie. Staying above it and just making it seem ridiculous is the best move.

SYR makes me so angry; the actor is doing such a good job with him.

All things being equal we should be getting the final episodes next week friday. Considering I'm going to binge the whole thing again I'm not even sad😅😅😅
