Usually for these close-up shots they use a hobby-horse (with ears and a bit of fur...), but him not moving at all makes it look so fake. Was the BTS that you saw of them riding together on the same horse or something else?
The FL is incredible. smart and empathetic . and not dumbed down like the majority of FLs the ML being this emotionally…
Have you ever met people who actually fought in a hands-on bloody war (I'm not talking about pressing a button to release drones)? They all come back somewhat emotionally damaged. In this sense, I think the ML portrayal of the general is very believable.

I guess this was meant to indicate that that it is made-up history. For the Chinese censorship it is very important to distinguish historical facts from made-up historical characters, hence the "this is fiction" warning before each episode. Other than the exaggerated medical and martial arts skills, I don't think there will be any "fantasy" elements.

Legend of the Phoenix had a happy ending and so did Legend of Fuyao and The Legend of Anle... It's more important to look at who the director is (after two disasters I'll avoid the one who did Yunxi in the future). Legend of Yunxi is a classic example of a drama that has a totally inflated rating on MDL due to the presence of some idol boys in the cast.
