Not really. Really good directors cannot be bothered with bad actors who waste everyone’s valuable time. Good directors expect their actors to be on point and bring ideas to the table that will help to realise their vision. Many directors actually work better with strong personalities in their cast.
Maybe read a few interviews with serious directors to get some idea of their job.

Totally agree. It’s manly the screenwriters who are to blame for replacing any original ideas from the novel with the same worn out cliches and even invent love triangles were there weren’t any.

There is a difference between not following every detail of the novel and totally ruining the vibe of the original material. For me Unchained Love is the perfect example of how not to do a novel adaptation: they took a dark novel (that was highly critical of the situation of women) and turned it into a f*cking comedy with shallow humour in all the wrong places.

I agree with you that the voice is annoying and as a woman I find it somewhat degrading that women are made to speak that way to indicate that they are young/innocent/etc. as if there were no other means (like acting skills) to bring that point across. No guy, no matter how childish or naive is ever given a little boys voice.
That being said, after a while watching the drama you start to get used to it and can ignore it. So far it’s been a good drama and it would be a pity to miss it because of such a small detail. As long as the acting is decent and the plot is interesting I can overlook it.

Yes, I agree. I don’t mind if they have to change some things, but I hate it when they mess up a good novel. However, sometimes trailers can also be deceptive and completely misrepresent a drama.
Unchained Love is the perfect example for both cases. The trailer promised something intense and dark (in line with the original novel) but the end result was a ridiculously tame drama with totally misplaced attempts of humour which completely lost the vibe of the original material.
Let’s just hope this one will positively surprise us.
