i really hope the screenwriter can change a few things:the ending near the novel’s end, someone says: “会摇橹吗?可愿渡我一程”…
Well, that’s MDL for you. All they want here is pretty faces and fluffy romance. Decent acting skills or engaging plot lines are neither recognised nor valued, You just need to look at the dramas that get high ratings to know what the priorities are.
im just not gonna mess with the cast list bc every website i go to the casting is different...with different names…
The original announcement made on the official Weibo page of the drama should prevail. A translation of it was posted on this page on 25/01, so if you scroll a bit further down you will find it. You can see the original announcement on Weibo here: https://m.weibo.cn/status/5259100109932101 Generally, I find DramaWiki reliable, but I cannot say if it’s the case for this drama as well.

I hope you are right and his opinion carries enough weight. I think generally the people who can act prefer complex roles instead of the cutesy stuff, but platforms like to focus on romance because it is easy marketing. I’ve seen it happen just recently with Whispers of Fate (a drama without romance) where they still cut certain scenes in the trailers in a way that would create expectations.

This will be exactly the tough choice that the production team has to make. If they want something that is sure to top the ratings, get a high rating on Douban (provided some of the trolls don’t interfere) and gain a lot of the younger viewership, then there has to be an increased focus on romance, with added “cute scenes” and a happy ending. If they want to make an authentic drama about the fate of individuals in troubled times and raise some of the philosophical questions from the novel, they will have to be prepared to lose a large part of the audience who just hunger for more sugar water and get bored by too much political intrigue. Personally, I hope that they will have the courage to go for the latter.

I'm not sure why, either, as I had him as supporting in my submission, and some of those people listed in supporting…
Hmh, so much for strictly going by the official announcement. Someone must have thrown your submission into the mixer and new names came up 😉 and they are definitely biased against Jeremy!
Why on earth is Xu Zhengxi listed as a “guest role”? In the announcement he was listed in the same line as Zhao Zhaoyi, Yin Haoyu, and Cao Jun. I thought MDL only accept “official” documents as backup documentation, but this is clearly from the land of fantasy.
I think it's a melodrama. Maybe the writer may have some silly things 🤷🏻♀️...but the novel is very…
Oh, I hope not! I hate it when the writers are trying to “lighten the mood” by adding silly characters. It hardly ever works. At least this isn’t a Xianxia so they can’t add “cute CGI animals”.
This isn’t his official styling for the drama, just a fan impression of what Xiahou Jun could look like. (The image is actually Pei Yan from Love of Nirvana)
My impression is that both leads are gray characters, with flaws.
Same here. Wherever possible, I read the novel beforehand. Without that,, how could I rant about the darn scriptwriters killing off any original idea, dumbing down the plot lines and whitewashing all the interesting characters, once the drama airs 😂😂😂 Let’s just hope this time around the scriptwriter has an epiphany 🙏
