Hopefully! I am reading the novel just now and that Wanyan Jun… urgh!
It will probably be some power play with a tragic love-line. As long as there are opportunities for him to do some real acting, I’m happy.

Making this drama a big success will be a well-deserved slap in the face of whoever is trying to stir up trouble. There have been too many instances recently of decent and successful actors being targeted.

The role is Xiahou Jun. It’s Wanyan Jun from the novel in a “new dress”, that’s why they changed the name.
I thing Wang Jinsong would be the best choice for the uncle.
Edit: Apparently they had to change the name because they cannot have the name of a historical figure in a fictional drama.

Yes, it’s the material created by a fan working group. They used some images from his previous role as Pei Yan in Love of Nirvana (because they thought his new role should have braids) and changed the background.

I don’t know where the info for the uploaded cast list came from. MDL aren’t too consistent in their approach. They keep telling people only official sources are accepted ( even rejecting Douban info) but then stuff based on rumours still appears.

Yes, I think the historical character was Wanyan Zhongwang.
As far as I understood, it is still the same Wanyan Jun character from the novel, but they presumably changed quite a bit of that character in the script (to make him more palatable) and therefore they also gave him a new name,

According to usually well-informed fans, Xu Zhengxi’s character name has been changed to 夏侯骏 (Xia Hou Jun).

120 days is the standard duration for a costume drama. Especially action scenes and wire work are very time-consuming.
I know Dacheng is a pro, but the stuntmen might not be able to keep up 😂
We can be thankful they aren’t filming over the summer months when it is 40’ C in Hengdian.
