I understand what you mean... Tastes are different for everyone and if for some reason you don't like one of the leads it's better not to watch it. It's the reason why I didn't watch Immortal Samsara, despite the story probably being good, I didn't like the leads.

I have a similar problem with The Wind Blows from Longxi. It's the darkness of most scenes that makes it difficult to watch, plus the subtitles flash past so fast sometimes that I had to stop several times and rewind just to be able to understand what was said.

It's sad that some people just can't respect the private life of actors the same way as they would for any other professional. They don't run around asking their banker or their hairdresser what they had for breakfast, either.

The author definitely has a thing for the mutilation of the male body... both in The Blue Whisper and (to an even worse extend) in Heart Protection. I doubt though that the details will make it into the drama version.

The romance is building up gradually. In the beginning both characters are just using each other. There is no love triangle, stupid misunderstandings or other annoying C-drama tropes (I HATE those!) so I hope they will not invent any in the drama version. There is one character in the book where I had a feeling that he might be interested in the FL, but there is never any doubt about her feelings.
The book has a happy ending after a lot of drama (quite a few people are dying in the various battles).

Yes, I read the book (which is called Heart Protection) in the English translation. It's by the same author who wrote The Blue Whisper and between the two I prefer this one.

Maybe December will get an extension this year for all the dramas to air that we were promised for 2022...

Who knows, Immortality might air on 42th December 2022.

It's not so much about taking revenge but more about getting the pieces of his body back (his true form is a dragon...) In the book he feels more pain and disappointment than anger against the person who mistreated him.

I don't think it's the actress. This role was written this way to portray an emotionally unavailable person. This also makes it very hard to create visible chemistry between the leads, but I think they had a few very good moments. They were a lot more subtle than many romantic C-dramas because this isn't a romance drama.

I think he lied about his parents because he was ashamed of them. As the mother was selling flowers on the street I would assume that they were quite poor, so not "presentable" enought for an ambitious doctor. Another reason could be the mothers dementia (family members with disabilities are often hidden from the rest of the world).
It's not really made very clear in the drama, but I think he gave up his career to look after the parents because he felt very guilty. His look when his mother thinks LB is her son speaks volumes.

I'm a bit hesitant to start as the translation is still on-going. I got stranded on a few others where the translation suddenly got dropped and reading the MTL version seems just too complicated when it comes to xianxia novels.
