Thanks for pointing this out. So for the script-writers "adapting a novel" seems to mean replacing any original idea with the same old tropes (misunderstandings, wardobe failure, etc. etc.) that we've already seen a thousand times. And why do they feel the need to make all the characters look stupid? Isn't that clown make-up already bad enough?
It is normal that writing for the screen has to be different from a novel and if they toned down certain aspects of the novel it would be understandable, but they seem to take all the original material and turn it into something completely different!
The same happened with Unchained Love where they tried to turn a rather dark novel into a stupid comedy.
Forget about annoying SFLs, those screen-writers are at the top of my "must-be-sent-to-the- underworld list"!

I just stopped and watched that passage with the Qi court again. I couldn't read the subtitles as fast as they were flashing past 😅

I know, it's all part of the fun!! It would be boring if we could guess it all after a few episodes.

Either people complain the pace is slow or they complain that there's too much information thrown at them in a short time. You can't please them all...

I think he is only nice to his little brother because little bro has no interest/ambitions in politics. He's definitely up to something and I wouldn't be all astonished if he was even plotting with the opposition in Qi. The murder of those ambassadors was very suspicious!

It seems that C-dramas still have a blind spot for the stalker-type obsessive guys.

Whenever there is a SFL obsessively chasing the ML everyone hates her, but guys with this kind of behaviour can even become ML (like that horrible one in Ashes of Love, who shamelessly chased his brother's fiancé even when there was zero interest from her).
There is a fine line between being eager and being a pest and some guys just miss it.

Well... nobody forces you to watch all available episode in one go 😉

Yes, it is a very good drama! When I look at the intense hatred that some of the supporting cast have generated, I have to conclude that the actors did a very good job in their roles.
Please just all remember to separate the actor from the role and appreciate their hard work making us hate their drama characters so much.

Am I the only one thinking that Wen Ying isn't as nice as he appears to be? I'm getting some serious duplicitous vibes from him... wouldn't be astonished if he was the one stirring up the Qian-Qi conflict behind the scenes.

The ML is travelling incognito, so of course his outfit cannot be too flashy. I kind of like the dishevelled hair... it suits the actor...

They have to suspend the airing, otherwise all those shrivelled-up old men would be watching instead of concentrating on their conference.

I'm loving this so much!! That umbrella fight scene in episode 6 was fun to watch. Innovative and filmed in an artistically pleasing manner!

That's what it means to be an actor! It takes a bit more than just a pretty face...

My favourite drama with him is The Legend of the Phoenix. The battle scene towards the end is out of this world! It also has some very good acting from the side-characters.
