Usually people complain about dramas being draggy.... 🙄
For once this one is quite fast paced and now everyone is complaining that they can't follow C'mon, guys.. just a tiny little effort!
Yes, there seem to have been a lot of scenes cut out to reduce the number of episodes (hence the props falling from the sky...), but it's not so bad that it would make the story hard to follow.

More thoughts after watching the first 4 episodes:
I like the FL. Despite being a fairy she neither has a squeaky voice nor does she behave childishly. On the contrary, she tells the guys off for being obsessive or irrational.
Props seem to just fall from the sky... where did that map at the end of ep. 2 come from? Where did the FL get the sword???
Zhu Zan Jin does not disappoint. As obsessive and unhinged as expected and he does it so well!!
This drama needs a 'reverse harem' tag. 😂
In conclusion, unless you expect TBOY and Xiao Se II from this, it's ok to watch.

...probably because it's so ridiculously tacky. However, so far at least, the drama is not as bad as this "music" suggests.

First impressions after watching one episode:
That intro music is incredible tacky and I can't stand it!
Story so far is ok - no problem following it despite having to rely on subtitles.
I cannot say that I found the editing particularly choppy, they just tried to fit a lot of information into this first episode.
That guy with the umbrella gave me a serious TBOY flashback ☂️☂️☂️

Yeah, I know what you mean... too many dramas that follow the same pattern... I usually remember the title of the dramas that I watched, but then I cannot remember what is was about 🤣🤣. This one (Legend of the Phoenix) stood out for me because it has some real, more mature actors in some of the main roles (instead of the interchangeable pretty boys/girls) and also because of that epic last battle sequence.

Yes, this one is criminally underrated (like much of his work)! Have you seen Legend of the Phoenix? I can recommend it!

That is my guess, but I don't know the story so maybe this time he'll surprise us all.
Having said this, he is sooo good at playing the unhinged but clever villain! I really enjoyed the last two times...

If they had been smoking anything they probably would have been a lot more creative than recycling a collection of stereotypical tropes that we've already seen like a thousand times.
I strongly recommend that they should start smoking something!

I think the scriptwriter added a bunch more cliches because there weren't enough in the novel. There was absolutely no need for making the maid extra stupid, she was actually quite ok in the novel.

For the villain, it's more important to be a good actor than to look good.
I'm getting quite bored with the pretty boys who look like a piece of cardboard in any scene that requires actual acting skills.

I'm with you. I quite like it, too.
Yes, there are the usual tropes of obsessive 2nd leads, people not talking to each other, irrational behaviour etc. but they are no worse than in other dramas. The acting is quite solid which is always a plus.

Who said there would be less angst in historicals? I watched Legend of the Phoenix recently and it was full of it!
