Its one of the most underrated drama. I'm loving this drama but don't know why the rating is so low? It deserves…
A lot of people seem to confuse "I don't like how character X is treating character Y in the drama" with "this is a bad drama". If often takes much greater acting skills to portray multi-layered flawed characters than the one-dimensional hero-types but it also requires a bit of maturity on the side of the audience to appreciate this. People seem to be dropping the show just because the ML is not the gallant superhero they were expecting. Even though he has his heroic or romantic moments, he can also be a selfish prick just like any real person.
I’ve been rewatching the 30+ scene over and over, and I didn’t give his eyebrows their due. Going to focus
Yeah, he was the Aragon in my head long before they made the movies, but this heroic role is very different from his usual stuff. My favourites are the two Cronenberg movies "A History of Violence" and "Eastern Promises". In the first one there is a scene where he tries to outpace a Crysler while walking with an injured leg. This scene will haunt me to the end of my days. In "Good" he plays an absolute anti-hero with some very intense acting. If you like something really weird watch "Jauja" it's beautifully filmed, but I have no idea what it's about... "Hidalgo" is a more commercial Disney movie but I like it because of the horses (and he did all the riding scenes himself).

Take a look at some of Viggo Mortesen's stuff. His acting is very similar, subtle and intense at the same time and he almost always plays strange or flawed characters.
Just looking at the episode ratings because I was wondering why the overall rating has gone down (again!) Single episodes have consistently good ratings, so how can the overall score be so low? And how can there already be ratings for episodes 34ff which haven't even aired yet??
IM hating ding ding ding cause she is so reckless, tried to commit suicide and now because of her the innocent…
Between the two of them DingDing is definitely the grown-up. The advice she gave Luo Yan regarding her studies abroad was quite reasonable. I really don't like Luo Yuan. Everybody keeps saying that she's so sweet but I find her clingy, childish and desperately lacking self-esteem. At least DingDing doesn't take sh*t from anyone, be it her boss or her parents.
But at the same time, I feel a bit inconsistency in ZY's character. I mean, I always understand her as introvert,…
I empathise with Zhan Yan's character a lot because she is very close to my own (work) persona. I'm not an outwardly emotional person and usually like to concentrate on the facts. I can confirm from my own experience that if you have been socially awkward from childhood you learn over time to "function" in certain social contexts for as long as it is clear what kind of behaviour is expected.
It is good! It has real characters (not some idealised heros) and takes the time to explore the story of each of these characters. Even though this initially comes across as a rescue drama, the focus (in the 16 episodes that I have seen) is much more on their personal relationships than on dramatic rescue missions. If you expect something like an American-style rescue drama you may be disappointed.
Argh..I can see there are gonna be misunderstandings btw LB and ZY , from the ending song video.....pls !I hope…
That's why I'm watching this very slowly, so that I have a few "buffer episode" in case something terrible (breakup, accident, etc.) happens. I don't want to see this happen in the last available episode and then wait a week or two for it to be resolved.
Yeah, he is like some friends that everyone has. Occasionally annoying, but a good friend when it counts. I'm only on ep. 13 and at the moment the ones that annoy me the most are Dr Cai (he is such a slime-bag!) and Luo Yuan. The way she keeps pursuing a guy who obviously shows no interest could be qualified as stalking and shows a total lack of self-respect. Not the kind of woman I would ever get on with... On the other hand, the supposedly "cold" Zhan Yan I find her perfectly normal.
Arrgh, you're killing me with all these abbreviations!! I get what you're saying. He always chooses challenging and tragic roles, seems he likes to make us cry 😂 Still, I think that while the previous roles that I have seen (did not watch Broker + Lie to Love) were often emotionally challenged people because of their past, none of them had the arrogant abrasiveness of Luo Ben. Even Yuan Shuai, despite his superiority complex was quite charming and probably every mother's favourite son-in-law. This being said, I quite enjoy what he's doing with the role, but then I also enjoy watching a good villain because I admire the acting skills, whereas most people like or dislike the actor for the role that he is playing. Looking forward to Til the End of the Moon... I have yet to read the book, so don't know how evil the Evil Demon King will be 😊
It looks like some people can't cope with the flawed ML... They got too used to LYX playing the white knight graciously floating to everyone's aid. It kind of reminds me of the backlash Viggo Mortensen received for his role as cowardly opportunist in "Good". The film was good and carried a very important message, the acting was brilliant, but it just wasn't what people expected from their "action hero" after seeing him in LOTR and Eastern Promises. It must be very tough for actors to work against be type-cast like this.
Ok I’m officially in grrr mode; you didn’t just lock her in her room! Is she 12? Where’s the frying pan…
Yeah, he really is slap-worthy in quite a few scenes. The way he has to tell everyone how to do their job! Talking to the rescuers "please save my sister", the talking to the doctor "please heal my sister". I mean, what did he think they were going to do? Play chess with her?
I really applaud the writers (and the actor) for giving us such a flawed ML. It makes him all more likable and real in the end.
