I think there is a difference between people getting there nose or some other feature changed at the beginning of their career and those who plastify their face to the point of being unable to move it. The latter impedes their job as actors, the former doesn’t.

The big conspiracy makes up a good deal of the novel. It would be great if they kept this part in the drama rather than just concentrating on the romance.

Yes, that bit was in the novel. I’m glad they kept that in. Only in the novel she was much cleverer and went to several shops to buy parts of the herbal formula, but she still got busted in the end.

Not very. The synopsis is based on the novel, but they changed quite a few things…
For instance there no longer is a younger brother and it’s the elder sister who successfully runs a cosmetics shop. And of course as the squeaky clean ML of a C-drama Lu Yan can no longer lure her into an affair and set her up as his mistress either 😂 He is now offering her shelter in a very platonic way.

For me the two prime examples of how and how not to age are the great French divas Catherine Deneuve and Jeanne Moreau. One started looking like a distorted copy of herself, the other one aged gracefully.

Not true. There are quite a few high profile western actors who haven’t messed with their faces. People like Virgo Mortensen or Diana Rigg spring to mind, but there are many more. I think there is a lot more tolerance towards actors naturally having facial lines and the so-called character actors are allowed to age.

Interesting, I’ve never seen any of his stuff. I tend to stay away from slapstick comedy and the stupid voices are one reason for it.
