As a horse rider I pay special attention to these things (and I watch a lot of historical dramas) therefore I can confirm that in this drama the scenes of people violently yanking on the reins to steer the horse are far more frequent than in other dramas that show people on horses.
It feels as if the director wanted to express some special kind of urgency or determination through this gesture, completely ignoring the pain that this causes to the horses.

Sadly the drama director isn’t one of them. Otherwise why would they abuse horses in every single episode by violently yanking on the reins to stop or turn the horse around.
This isn’t normal horse riding but amateurish abuse. My horse would buck you off in no time.

I didn’t even manage to get that far into TTEOTM despite liking both main actors. These stories of people abusing each other in all sorts of ways and then calling it love are just not for me.
SOKP was quite different, at least they had a grown up relationship and didn’t manipulate or torture each other. The forehead kiss didn’t bother me because in the situation it was a genuine expression of affection, not an obsessive gesture.

Yes, I do the same. That’s why it’s so frustrating that those stupid script writers kill any fresh ideas that were in the novel to replace them with some worn-out tropes and even add love triangles that weren’t in the novel.

The parts when it is good, it is really good! Sadly, in between there are some really boring fillers.
Nonetheless, what makes this drama special is that the brought in some fresh ideas instead of the usual formulaic tropes and that the main couple have a grown up relationship.

So true! For me the worst, obsessive ML was the one in Ashes of Love. Any sane person would have shot the stalker of his brother’s fiancée, I couldn’t see how this was romantic at all!
However I get why the FL is cruel to LTG, she wants him to snap out of his craze by being disappointed with her, but this would only work on a sane person.

Yeah, those script writers have a fixed set of elements that they just mix up and decorate with fresh faces for every new drama. I really love the xianxia genre but it would definitely need a few fresh ideas instead of the same old boring tropes like
- love triangle with obsessive, delusional third party
- misunderstandings due to not talking to each other
- antagonists with no motivation other than being evil/hating the FL or ML for no reason whatsoever.
…and many, many more.

I liked SOKP a lot. The two dramas are very different. SOKP had more focus on palace politics and was dialogue-heavy with a faster pace of the overall plot
This one is more action-oriented, but I found some parts of it more boring than than SOKP. There is more romance in it early on, but the endless sequences of the gazing at each other while the theme song plays feel like boring fillers to me.

He doesn’t seem to fit the current “pretty boy” standard for popular dramas. To me they all look a bit the same while his looks are unique.
C-netizens always need stuff to complain about. If his look is unique, they’ll complain and if he had plastic surgery (like so many actors) they would complain about that.
Tastes are different anyway and much more important than looks is the fact that he has charisma and he can act.

There is a third option, the dramas where they get an ML role are just shit productions with a shit script.

For me this is what I love about LTG (and this drama in general): it is unpredictable. The baddies aren’t ugly idiots who are all thoroughly evil for no other reason than “the script says so”, but all have their own motivation. It’s only the circumstances that turn people into adversaries.

Yeah, his pairing with these girlie would-be actresses is really frustrating. With this one (and his 2ML role in Love of Nirvana) I guess he is trying to steer away from these roles.
If Allen Feng joins the team we will have a real power-trio. I cannot wait to see how this works out!

We don’t know yet when he will start filming. By the looks of it shooting will take a few months but the side characters will probably have a lot of their scenes grouped together, so that they don’t need to be there all the time…

I always found him a very boring ML, but he is really good in A Journey to Love!!! I feel this type of cheeky character suits him perfectly.

No, I won’t force myself to watch this, no worries. I will give it a try and if it turns out as silly as the trailer suggests (not that trailers can always be trusted 😏) I will drop it.
I quite like ZLS as an actress and enjoyed watching her in LLTG, therefore it would be disappointing to see her cast as silly girlie in some cliched production.

Isn’t she dubbed? If so it’s the director’s choice what kind of voice they give her. I had hoped that with her recent success she would towards a more mature style…
And yes, a new-born beast may be naive but doesn’t necessarily have to speak in a baby-voice to bring that message across.

The child-like voice of the FL, the silly humour, the glittery special effects and pastel colours… all this screams teenage romance drama.
I had this on my list to watch, but after seeing the trailer I’m not so sure anymore.
