So no one else was bothered by the fact that HSY didn't tell SX about what was happening with her mother? I was very icked out that she ended up apologizing for her reaction to her entire family and BF keeping this info from her after telling her 5 episodes back that she needs to tell them about what's happening in her life when it came to her breakup with YH. No wonder she is so emotionally repressed. I can understand her forgiving HSY for doing what he needed to do as a doctor but to jump back into immediate trust.... to me it seems this drama should have taken a more angsty turn.
Why did you watch something that is painful to you. Other people really appreciate the show! Who care about your…
Excellent review. I dropped the drama after episode 9 because I couldn't stand all the inconsistency and lack of character growth. I absolutely would have been livid about watching the remaining 3 episodes only for it to turn out that way.
One thing about the drama that still struggle with is the ML being characterized as a green flag. IMO he is not a greenflag (at least in his adult years). My reasoning for believing so is he was willing to keep using Yun Nan U to shield Ji Kang Hee, throwing someone else under a bus to protect the FL is not greenflag behavior. Also, his mother was regularly and routinely rude to the FL but most of the time he just sits there and lets his mom say whatever about her (even if we know he feels differently) his lack of action in addressing this behavior by his mother removes him from the greenflag label for me.
My favorite character in this drama was the SL up until the proposal scene (he was the reason I even kept bothering to watch episodes). The proposal scene felt so inauthentic for him to rush a grand/public proposal without even having a conversation with JKH, especially knowing their relationship was a fake one. Why would he do this? The writers really p*ssed me off with that scene.
I started this show thinking the FL was the problem but it only took a few episodes to realize *everyone* in this show is unlikeable. Instead of just talking to one another they deflect, steamroll, gaslight, stay in denial or just ignore whatever is going on.
I can't believe so much marketing went in to promoting this drama because it was irritating to watch grown adults be so devoid of self reflection/growth (how many times do we have to watch the FL tell the ML to leave her alone??)
In the novel does he stalk her SM? Does he make the creepy doll?
I already like that version so much better.... one more question, was he already leader of Team 1 when he asked her to marry him or did that also come later in the book?
I'm honestly shocked to see this article state that public opinion is not on Zhao Lusi's side....why would the public support any company treating its employee's health and well being like this? Her schedule is jam packed with 30+ episode dramas, for the last few years. If the company really wanted to do right by her they would limit how many show/appearances she is scheduled for, allow her to rest, and eat.
I have to disagree with your take on the ML character. As most young men and women in these cdramas, they don't…
First, I don't like your insinuation that I haven't watched dramas enough to know what the common tropes are, you can review my watchlist if you want more info on my background with C/KDrama's.
Second, you purposely ignored my comment about the doll he made and held on to for 11 years. That on its own is creepy af. But coupled with the idea that he has been stalking her on SM for 11 years in addition to showing up at her home and school without any previous indication from her that she would be open to his advances is very scary. As far as coercion, he arranges a meeting with her parents to have *them persuade her* to give him a chance, he discloses to THEM that he has long had feelings for her but neglects to share the same information with the FL. He immediately starts calling her parent's 'Mom & Dad' even when she voices her uncertainty about it. On the night, she said she would eat with her parents, he shows up uninvited so she doesn't have a moment to rethink what he's been doing. In fact, when the FL specifically states that if she knew he had long standing feelings she would be less inclined to date or marry him because she wants to be on equal footing with her partner, he lies, he pretends that they are on the same playing field while he is 1. her boss 2. makes her responsible for household finances both of these things together make her unnecessarily indebted to him under the guise of an equal give and take relationship. Moreover he stood outside of her BF house hiding in the bushes all night... THIS IS CREEPY.
I think there was a better way to tell this story, which would include the ML having *NOT* been stalking FL for 11 years (and def get rid of the doll), he (as a 4 dimensional character) should have been able to date someone previously (Sidebar: I'm tired of 30 year old gorgeous virgin tropes it's very unrealistic) and their first meeting at the matchmaking event should have been a serendipitous event (i.e. not something that happens because he's been stalking her SM). He should have been setup as the Dept 1. manager before she got moved to the team. This gives her agency, her character knows he's her boss before she agrees (and I would have had her wait way longer to agree e.g. after she becomes perm and he moves to a different team).
Miles is an attractive ML but lbr... his character in this drama is an incel who has been stalking the FL for 11 years. There comes a point -in the flashbacks- where his behavior no longer seems endearing and def crosses the line into creep behavior. If the ML was less attractive it would be more evident that his actions are actually pretty scary. I wish they would have let his character have at least one previous relationship or something to show he hasn't just spent 11 years stalking the FL before coercing her family into helping him trick her into a relationship. Also whoever put the doll in storyline as a plot point needs to be demoted. What a creepy thing to make and hold on to for 11 years. Absolute insanity.
PLEASE DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN EPS 15 / 16(not spoiler tagging bcus i want to see what others think…
I've said this in several other post but JuWon's problem is she lacks agency.
She doesn't have a single thought/motivation or action that someone else did't put there first. Her love confession/realization seemed flat because nothing in the story we were told showed that JW couldn't live without SanHa. She seemed to adjust perfectly to his absence from what we were shown and yet strangely we are meant to believe he's her person. I still wanna know who she was about to go out on a date with lol
Imo the problem is with the writing in general. There are so many plot holes, weird cuts and characters that aren't…
Okay so we are def being robbed of crucial plot in FBC. I will add the original drama to my watchlist because I have a feeling I will be left unsatisfied at the end of this one.
It's also affirming that in the original JW's character is an artist, I was wondering why they didn't make her a photographer instead of a baker. She seems like the type of character who would want to take/create precious memories and that could have nicely tied into the plot.

Ju Won has no agency.
There is not a single action she has taken on her own. As a child she was told her dad could do anything even give her a brother so that is what she wished for. As a teen her first crush isn't someone she liked on her own, she only liked him because he liked her. She wanted to work at the restaurant with her dad because it was easy but he wanted her to try something on her own so she opened a bakery. She even (seemingly) only likes San Ha because he liked her.
The list goes on and on.
It's so easy to dislike her character because she only exists to drive the men's plots. Honestly watching this is making me want to re-watch Extra-Ordinary You because she is absolutely trapped in a story where she is NOT the main character.
This show would be greatly improved if the female characters had been given agency.
The FL can't act to save her life and the male lead looks 30+ af he needs to stop playing much younger characters…
She can. Her character is just written poorly. She has no agency, she doesn't get to be mad or upset for long, she just gets to pout and stomp her feet a bit so she comes off as very one dimensional but that's because she's only there to fit into SH's story.
SH get's the growth and the layers to his character.
If she had agency we would have seen her getting to go to baking school, find job, making friends, setting up her business, moving out on her own/with Dal. Instead we got a montage of her celebrating her BDay at home waiting for her "brother's" to call. Her father only has time to give her 'brother's' heart to heart's. He only worries about showing the boys love.
It's unfair to blame the FL when it's clear the story really isn't about her.
This show has a problem with its female characters.
I can't count how many times we've seen the male characters get to express a full gamut of emotions while the ladies all end up ... lacking agency. Hae Jun's mother single handedly raised him, ended up in prison (for god knows why) and her character comes off almost passive about wanting her son back but its very clear that since before he was even born she always prioritized him. So why does the director not give us more of that ? Even HJ's aunt was a young college student struggling to make her grades pay her bills, and take care of a child she never planned on having to be the sole primary caretaker of and yet the director makes us question her intentions rather than sympathize with her struggle. Even San Ha's mother is depicted as cold, mean spirited, down right vindictive and cruel when it comes to him, very little time is spent on what looks like postpartum/depression/mental health issues that she is clearly exhibiting. Instead we are made to sympathize with the husband who doesn't spend much time emotionally connecting to either his young son or his wife.
And then there is Ju Won's character who I would think is the central lead and yet all the men around her all seem to invalidate her and ignore her. She didn't seem to have any girl friends prior to Dal's introduction. She has no women to look up to except the one Auntie who is depicted as a busy body and keeps reinforcing outdated stereotypes. Her father regularly cooks her 'brothers' favorite meals but she has to beg him to cook hers? Her father regularly has heart to heart's with her 'brothers" but hasn't had a single one with her. Her "brothers" ignored her for years then show up again randomly and without warning and she is expected to "just go with it?" ... ' be in love with SH?"
And then there is Dal, who is sweet, funny, and kind, and smart and beautiful, and the ideal in almost every way a human can be IDEAL and somehow she is sidelined??? HOW?? Not to mention her mother is very degrading to her despite all of her perfection. I don't think there is a single female character in this show that is not maligned especially if they make the mistake of wanting something for themselves.
I am hoping the last 2 episodes do better but this has been such a wild ride to watch.

Josephine told Elvis she had a 5 year plan and that this was her 4th year when they went on their first real date...
At the end when he shows up he says "its year 5... what's next?"

Even the setup of the chosen careers relating back to the love they each had for each other is inspiring, I see why the Cdrama has a greater appeal.
